Crane Carpentry did a deleading project for us two months ago. And it's taken me that entire two months to cool down enough to write a reasonably civil review. When they stripped the paint from the windowsills, they sanded very unevenly, leaving the surfaces gouged beyond repair. They couldn't have used masking tape or drop cloths, because there are speckles of paint on the floors and halos of blotchy paint surrounding each windowsill. And I can only assume they skipped the primer as well, because every door and doorjamb they painted already has a couple of chips in the paint. Also, they painted right over the door latches, so now all the doors stick. The fact that they initially told us the more-than-$500 lead inspection would be included in the quoted price, but then left us to pay for that on top of the quoted price, was just the icing on the cake. The only good news is that they did the bare minimum, so many of the surfaces that I had assumed would be repainted or at least touched up were entirely left alone. The most charitable interpretation is that they assumed we were only interested in getting a tax write off rather than a job well done. The problem is that doing the bare minimum, slap-dash job required to check boxes on an inspection cost us $8.5k and left us with exactly as much work needed as we started with, plus irreparably damaged woodwork. read more

Phenomenal work. Wander and his crew did a huge lead-abatement project on our 100 year old home. The exterior work was complicated (with architectural detail work we didn't want to lose) but they knocked it out in a couple of weeks and it looks exactly as it would have looked when the house was built. Anything they weren't happy with, they redid without us even having to ask. They worked on weekends too, which in our experience, was unheard of. We hired Wander and his team to delead an apartment. But we asked him to remove and replace all of the trim with lead paint this included the stair case. They did an unbelievable job. Since we couldn't get onto apartment to supervise, we had to trust , and Wander and team was so conscientious, they took great care and treated it like it was their own home. We had Crane Carpentry perform our lead abatement for our 1700 square foot, 3 bedroom, 1 bath house in Medford. The job was done in 12 days. Wander Oliviera and his crew are great. The work was done quickly and for a very reasonable price, and with an attention to detail that exceeded my expectations. They made sure to match the new frames and baseboards to the existing room, kept the original look of our porch while covering the problematic areas, and we returned to a spotlessly clean home. He also performed a few extra jobs for us in the process - namely replastering outdated, popcorn-y walls in a few rooms and knocking down a poorly done closet from the previous owner. Crane Carpentry was hired to de-lead my elderly mother's 3 family home in Somerville and they did a great job. They de-leaded the entire exterior of the building and portions of the second floor unit. The crew was very professional and friendly and competed the job in 2 1/2 days. We used Crane Carpentry for second time to have an LVL support beam installed on the first floor of our home and Wander did an amazing job. He came quickly to see the job, gave us a fair price and came in with his crew to install it as scheduled.
