Overall a so-so experience. It started out great. We purchased a certified vehicle. The very first time we took it in for a oil change after we bought it (to the dealer Dewey) they said a shock needs replaced, the engine is leaking oil, battery is testing low, and suggested an alignment since tires are wearing uneven. We purchased a $4000+ warranty with the vehicle but the only item they will cover is the oil leak. Not sure how I feel about the "certified" vehicle any longer. I feel they should have taken care of the shocks within such a short amount of miles driven? Live and learn. On a high note the staff is very nice and friendly. I am hoping the financing/sales team with set this straight with the shock. Seems it is out of the hands of service team. The Expedition is in the shop at this time. They did fix some items on this vehicle a few days after we purchased it after we pointed them out so that was good. Best of luck if you purchase a certified vehicle. I suggest you take it to another shop within 3 months to have everything looked over and catch these things early. We didn't and are now paying the price. Maybe you will have better luck. read more

My estimate started around $8464 and ended at $13600, adding insult to injury it took around 6 weeks (more on this below). After they 'disassembled' the vehicle, they found the other $50000+ in damages. I'm no body repair person but come on, I guess they employ low skill estimators or possibly they are just dishonest. This was by in far the worst repair experience of my life. No possible way would I refer a single person here. When I approved the estimate, they called me to let me know I could bring it in so they could start repairs. One of the most obvious things that needed to be replaced was the grill, we had hit a deer, oddly enough the grill was on backorder and was the last thing they were waiting on to complete the repairs. read more

Turned out it needed a whole new Transmission and new electrical modules in the dash/ taking over a month to repair. With the help from my attorney i was able to get a full refund of $31,036.76. Today Aug. 6th I see its back on DEWEY FORDS lot for sale at $25,732 This has to be the most corrupt DEALERSHIP. I emailed tsaenz@deweyford.com a month ago on 12/15/26 and Teri cannot be bothered to respond, so don't let them fool you into thinking they care about their customers**** I would give this dealership negative stars if I could. I bought my car in February, and the salesperson Amber, misinformed me and lied about capabilities of the car, and then AFTER I signed the papers told me the actual information, so that was cool HOWEVER, now that it is getting cold, my "auto" button on the control panel doesn't work. I understand what an auto button does. It maintains the temperature in the car... So if its on high, it will adjust automatically to keep that temp. However, mine does not do that. After warming up for 15 minutes, when you drive, its still cold in the car, and it doesn't kick on or kick out heat. I can make my entire 20 minute drive to work after the 15 minute warm up and it doesnt get toasty in my car. So I placed a warranty repair. I took the car to Dewey and was called later and told that there was nothing wrong, and that the mechanic had paperwork for me to understand the function of the "auto" button. So basically the mechanic treated me like I was dumb. I get my car and head straight to my 2nd job. It was getting dark. The next morning, I go out to my car, and see there is paperwork on the dash. they gave me paperwork when I was there, but this one had a sticky note on it. It was shoved in the front corner of the windshield so no one saw it. I took it and looked at it and was utterly disgusted by what the mechanic wrong. On this sticky note, he wrote "Sorry in advance (insert straight line mouth face here per the drawing), See me for more info on this sh*tbox of a ticket - FYI vehicle has been here overnight apparently more frequent in the am" Not sure if it was the service advisor or the mechanic that wrote this BUT AT THE END of the note, there was a drawing of a gun shooting a smiley face in the head, and then the smiley face dead. so that is the professionalism of this place. The tell you lies to get you to buy the car, and then treat you like garbage and like you are a inconvenience for asking them to do what they are paid to do. After this experience, I will NEVER go to this dealership again. My husband wanted to buy a new Ford truck, and he will not be going here either. This place treats customers like they are a bother, and the service department is crude, lacks tact and professionalism. The GM keeps their head in the sand and doesn't respond. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I want to think that they're understaffed, but I don't believe that's the case since I see mechanics everywhere when I drop off my van. They need to do one little job on it. It's always a huge inconvenience and they keep telling me that it only take a few hours so I let him keep holding onto my van because I want the job done. Last visit they told me it would take 48 hours tops 48 and when I called them after 48 hours, I kept getting voicemail and getting sent to the same phone even though I told the service receptionist that it would go to voicemail. When I could get a hold of the person who I was working with she kept telling me it would just take a few hours so four days total, all they got done was my oil change in my tire rotation. They told me that my window switches were the wrong parts even though they replaced them three months ago so they should know the exact parts they get and that's why they kept telling me to hold on a few more hours. so I just let them keep holding on my van, they also said that they were splicing the wires going to my back up camera doesn't work and they never did that either when I went to pick up my van and they said it was ready to go. I went to shut my door when I got in the van and part of my door panel was missing and also my back door panel where my back up camera wasn't put back the other when I told the lady she had the mechanic come out and he was trying to push it back together and then he had to go back to get a screwdriver because he didnt even bring his tools with him so I was even later for work. Terrible Pricing and Poor Customer-Focused Policies - Avoid Dewey Ford! I recently took my 2018 Ford Explorer to Dewey Ford for a few issues: my navigation system, my passenger side mirror, and my driver's seat heater that wasn't working. I also made it clear that I had a Route 66 warranty to cover the repairs. Right away, I was hit with an outrageous diagnostic fee of nearly $600--just for them to look at the issues! I understand charging a diagnostic fee, but that price is completely unreasonable. It gets worse: Dewey told me that while Route 66 would cover parts and labor, they wouldn't cover diagnostic fees, shop supplies, or taxes on parts--so I was still looking at a $600 bill before they even started working on anything. Because of this ridiculous upfront charge, I told them to only look at my navigation system. Even after limiting the work, I was still left with a nearly $500 bill for just one repair, which I had to pay completely out of pocket. What really baffles me is why Dewey doesn't apply the diagnostic fee toward the actual repair if they know the work is guaranteed. Any reasonable business would either roll part of the fee into the repair cost or at least cut it in half. Instead, they chose to take advantage of the customer, which ultimately cost them more business--I will now take my other repairs elsewhere to a shop that doesn't gouge customers with excessive fees. Dewey Ford lost out on three more repairs and my future business, all because of their greed. This is exactly why dealership service centers are going downhill--they overcharge and drive customers away with unfair pricing. I have to say I have mixed feelings about this dealership. The salesmen are great. Very friendly and did a great job getting me in a vehicle that I thoroughly enjoy at an affordable price. However, the lack of support their service department provides is mind blowing. I've had a couple of repairs on my vehicle since I bought it back in September of last year. Each time, the diagnosis alone takes 2-3 business days with no rental vehicle or loaner vehicle. My first repair, I had to reach out to the general manager about my displeasure with the lack of loaners/help with a vehicle while my car was diagnosed and repaired. She got ahold of me and was able to find a loaner, but I could not go over so many miles as it was a brand new vehicle they gave me. My most recent repair requires 2.5 weeks to repair, and although Dewey gave me an extended warranty that makes this repair much cheaper than if I had to pay for it outright, they told me they could only cover 5 days' worth of a rental for me. They claim they don't have any loaner vehicles either. I've already paid for 3 days' worth of a rental to cover the diagnosis stage. After those 5 days, I still have to pay for 9 days' worth of a rental at roughly $50 a day or more. With the $285 diagnosis/repair cost, and the rental cost, I'm paying nearly $900 for this and waiting 2.5 weeks for my vehicle. Again, I cannot complain considering my transmission needs repaired and that's a very expensive repair otherwise. They seem to not take care of their customers that buy a vehicle from them, offer them an extended warranty which essentially forces customers to use them as a service provider, and then the customer's vehicle actually needs a repair on a used vehicle THEY sold the customer. They buy a lot of used vehicles and they don't have loaners for customers who have vehicles who are going to be repaired over an extended period of time? People have jobs they need to be able to drive to and renting a vehicle is an expensive cost especially for 2.5 weeks. If a dealership can't help with a loaner or the rental, it's extremely frustrating. read more

Once I arrived at my scheduled time I was told that all the repairs were not in stock and some were not even made for the recall. I was told that due to the work being a recalll that I would be offered a rental or another vehicle to be used while my vehicle was being repaired. When I arrived I was told that they do not offer that service to any one. Well if your other employees are saying that this service is available then why am I being told no once you get there. Dear Dewey Ford: I have bought every brand new car through you. My Dad always came with me as he originally new Dewey. I purchased a new car every 2-3 years. One year I bought a clutch and had no idea how to drive and my dad's patience was a little low so he drove it home and I taught myself. The last car I was able to pay in cash. But unfortunately things have changed since then. My Dad was killed on Christmas Eve in a car accident. And in my now senior years am disabled having had over 30 surgeries. In the last year alone I had to have 3 major shoulder surgeries and almost had to have my arm amputated. The car I paid cash for is now 23 years old. The outside is almost perfect and the inside is. When I drove home from the store there was a horrendous noise in the back it sounded like a bunch of rocks rolling around in a bucket it scared me to death! I took it in immediately...turns out the rear struts were nearly split in two due to rust. Being as old as it was they didn't recommend spending the 3-4 thousand dollars to repair it due to extensive rust under the car. They said due to the rust I'd probably continue to have problems. The car has approximately 95,000 thousand miles. But as you know in IA that covers a great deal of snow, ice, cold and hot temperatures and don't forget pot holes. So what I'm going to ask is going to sound absolutely ridiculous and knowing my lack of ANY luck I should know it's stupid to ask... but on disability I only make very close to 2 thousand dollars a month. My house takes half of that I already know my standards have to go down because I've only bought brand new cars...all 2 doors of course. I can barely get in SUV's. So hears my question...I've bought every new car from you with my Dad. It pains me greatly that he won't be there to get my next car if I can figure out how to get one. I really desperately need a huge amount of help in getting my next car. They were so nice (not) and said they would give $300 dollars to scrap it. And yes I cried when I hung up. We had to make an emergency pit stop at Dewey service center yesterday after getting a huge bolt in our tire and driving back to Ankeny on a spare. Our service provider Dave was above and beyond awesome! He worked so hard to get us a tire right before their warehouse closed, which was only 30 minutes after we got there. We were in and out with our new tire in just over an hour! Their service department has had such great improvement lately! We will keep coming back. There was some mandatory crap they made us take such as etched vin numbers "because it was already done" The real crappy part about this place is the fact that, 5 years later we still get calls from them at least a dozen times a year begging us to bring our car up and trade it in. After purchasing a used Mazda cx-5 from Dewey, the rear reflector became loose. We reported the problem to our salesman and the service department WITHIN the 30-day warranty timeline. We were told the part was ordered and would be contacted about fixing it once the part came in. Found out 3 weeks later the part was never ordered! Called back 5 times and continually got the runaround about service men, advisors, managers calling me back and it never happened. I even requested to speak to manager multiple times and got directed to voicemail rather than a person with NO call back. I have dates and people I spoke to documented over a 2 month period of time. Completely ridiculous and a poor excuse for a company after spending thousands of dollars on a car. I understand we bought a Mazda and this is a Ford dealership...however they should NOT be selling other makes and models if they can't hold up their 30day warranty. read more

The car prices can be competitive with other dealers around the DSM area. But as far as trade-ins go, do not bring them in to Dewey. Their offers for trade-ins are far far less then what you will get at other reputable dealers in the DSM area. While discussing my trade-in value, and I am not joking around. The person giving me the numbers said he can not go up any more in value of the trade-in cause the car is at bottom dollar already. First and most, dealers never look at a the price point this way for any car they take in, whether they auction it off or spruce it up to put back on the lot. It is only compared in price against what other cars like it are going for in the surrounding area. This is a very shady trade-in tactic that I thought only small used dealers try on people. As to to the price they offered on my trade-in, what did they offer me as compared to KBB as well as other dealers? Only 25% of it's current value. Keep in mind dealers will go over 15 to 20% over current value just to make a profit and if this is put on their lot? Given the current economic climate for cars? It will go even higher then that. Not a bad place to buy a car, but their sales tactics are a little shady to say the least. Not sure which was worse the body work or the attitudes of the staff! We picked Dewey as they were a select service center with our insurance so figured the repair would be easy and stress free, well its far from any of that! After 3 times of having our vehicle in the collision center it's still not fixed correctly. The manager did all he could to talk down our insurance company while arguing with us that the damage was not done from the accident. He refused to even look at the damage still on the vehicle and told us they did not touch that part of the vehicle, but it was included on the estimate. PATHETIC is the word that comes to mind when giving a review for Dewey Ford Service Dept. My Ford Edge needed a factory warranty rear axle repair. When I stopped to make an appointment to have it fixed, a service advisor told me they were 2 weeks out to get it in the shop. After a 2 week wait, when I dropped the Edge off, he told me it was a 2 day process. First day was to diagnose the problem and order parts and the 2nd day was for doing the repair. After no call for 4 days, I called and the advisor told me it wasn't done and he "didn't like the way work orders were assigned to the technicians." That made me consider if they put "warranty" work off, for other cash vehicle repairs. I called 3 days later and was told my service advisor was no longer with the company and new parts had been ordered the day before. After 13 days, I finally got my Edge back, warranty repaired, no charge, but no explanation on the delay. I assume Ford won't pay their shop rate, so cash repairs are done first. 13 days for a 2 day repair... Unacceptable to say the very least. read more

Went in today before closing to test drive 2 vehicles to compare. The sales guy was nice, friendly, knew that I was in the market and I had done my research. He went in to get keys at 5:43 and his sales manager told him "We are about to close, so she can't test drive anything." I wanted to take it out on the freeway to corporate drive and back. What kind of horrible customer service! I understand that it's Friday afternoon, but absolutely no reason to turn away a customer who tells you that they are pre approved.... oh yea, and I am looking to buy. The sales guy tried to get me to come tomorrow...sorry I can't, I have to work all day, hence why I raced up there, dealt with traffic from an accident, and was going to try n make a purchase next week. Dropped my Bronco Badlands off on July 25th, 2023. The engine had failed and needed replaced (6837 miles at that time). It was abrupt and luckily I was close to drop it off. Things started out iffy with the dealer to start, they heard the noise acknowledge something was really off, and told me to take my car home and come back tomorrow. Obviously I did not take this car home. Jump ahead two/three days later and yes the engine needed replaced. Fine, that's what warranties are for. They did get me a car, which was nice, but here's when the wheels fell off the rails. They had my Bronco for 5wks, very little communication, only when I emailed or called did I get an update. They also left the car dirty, there are pen marks and grease prints on the door inside, and they left no gas, literally I had 9miles left to empty on the vehicle to get to a gas station when I picked it up. The car was dropped off with over 3/4 tank, (I have gas receipt to prove date of gas purchase 7/25) they indicated that they drove the vehicle, my paperwork indicates 7 miles is all they drove to test a new engine in the vehicle? 7 miles did the engine even have time to fully perform? I asked for proof of new engine not a refurbished one, they gave me paper work with a generic Ford Engine Part Number and said that was my proof. I asked for explanation on what warranty is going to be, they said it would be indicated on paperwork, and there is nothing. I have reached back out for the Engine Serial number to verify its validity as a new one, and have requested in writing the warranty info. Hope they can at least do that much. Customer Service is not the strong suit here obviously. read more

We were told the might be able to come down a bit on price by the salesman but inside the next gentleman told us their prices are already the lowest. Not true if salesman said something else. I checked on Kelly blue book and the sale price for same vehicle with same mileage was 1000 dollars less. My wife wanted it and we needed it by Monday so we bought. The next person had us sign papers. He offered a 3 year insurance that covered everything. Piece of mind for 3 years so we got it. Very soon like 100 miles or so it was getting hot and shut down. Towed to closest dealership and was told it was a coolant hose that was not covered by insurance. Cost us 450 dollars or so. We called them and they said they would get back to us but didn't. A while later I got a letter from a loan company saying credit denied for lack of equity in my vehicle. They did not tell us this and must have simply found a different lender. Now a couple months later it stopped running and I had it towed again to the closest dealership. They just called stating it might be the fuel pump but he has to do some more digging. He wanted my permission as I would have to pay for this if not covered by the insurance. Go elsewhere as they only got one star from me because I had too. read more

I bought my used Mazda from Dewey last year. My fiancee also purchased her car here just a month before hand. I found the sales folks here to be upfront, kind and honest when trying to find a price that was agreeable. I tip my hat the sales team here. They were very easy to work with. Dewey employs a rather odd system of passing customers between employees. Dewey does try to tack on a lot of additional services in the form of after-market paint and floor mats, and extended warranties. The only disappointment here was the additional amount of time I had to kindly decline the after-market sales, and extended warranties. They will push these fairly persistently. Do NOT take your car in for servicing. I'd say worst service ever, but that would imply I received any service. Nobody ever answers the phone in the service department so I had to drive there. Took 6 days for them to make an appointment to look at my car. Then they keep my car for 3 days with no phone calls. So I called them. They didn't answer. Again. I had to leave a voice message. When they finally called back the guy literally said he had no idea when they would even look at my car. Not fix it, just no time table to even look at it. To recap, they gave me an appointment, had me drop off my car, and then they expect me to just leave it there until who knows when. No, I think I'll just go anywhere else. My experience last year was not so great with this dealership. Communication with the salesman was great from the start and they worked very hard to know what I wanted in a vehicle and found the one I wanted on their lot after some searching of the inventory. Took the vehicle for a test drive and decided that I wanted to pursue the vehicle. Unfortunately this is when my experience took a bad turn. I wanted to lease the vehicle through Ford Motor Credit and I had done a lot of research on what the payments and terms would be with Ford. I was confident going in that I knew approximately what the payment situation would be. The finance guy gave me a lease payment a lot higher that what I thought it should be. When I questioned him about this and let him know the leg work I had already done with Ford Motor Credit he gave me excuses about why his amounts were higher. In the end I walked away and went to another Ford Dealer who gave me the lease amount I was expecting from Ford and actually did a dealer trade to get me the vehicle I wanted at Dewey Ford so that I would not have to order the vehicle and wait. read more

In terms of dealership-based body shops, Dewey Ford is about as good as it gets. I worked in dealerships for years and I can tell you this shop is well-managed and focused on customer service. Here's what I liked: 1. Jamie, the shop manager, might be the most competent individual I've worked with in the body shop business. Polished, professional, and awfully helpful, it's hard to think of anyone I've worked with in the past that had as much talent. 2. The shop is CLEAN. A clean shop is a good shop - always. Clean shops indicate attention to detail - an important trait in the repair business. 3. Everyone is helpful. A lot of times body shops have one person that is great to talk to and 10 that you would never want to see again. This shop is great from the friendly receptionist, to the courtesy van drivers, to the porter, to the detailer, to the big boss himself. 4. They have a nice facility. Again, I worked in dealerships for a while, so I know a good one when I see one. The facility is top-notch. I'm not sure that they're the least expensive option in Ankeny, but they gave me a very fair deal for a general touch-up and some paint-less dent repair.
