Coupon in the mail, I did not know I should make an appointment. I was just taking a chance mid day on a Friday. I arrived about 2 and he said I could get in about half an hour or at 3. I happily took the 3 oclock and then ran other errands. Excellent service, personable and kind people working there. I arrived back just before 3, he checked me in, took my information and my keys. They have a nice clean waiting area. Lots of chairs and free water and coffee. The TV was on and they were watching Judge Judy. There was just a couple people in the waiting room and we all got to chuckling at the TV show with the Midas gentleman behind the counter. I was offered a scratch off ticket for a chance to win money off on my next oil change. I did win $20.00 off my next change. Which is what I paid for this one, so I am curious what their normal charge is. While I was waiting the were a few other people who came and went. They each were offered a chance to take a look at something else other than what they had ordered for their vehicles. For example when my time came to be done, they brought in my air filter and asked if I wanted it replaced. It was kind of dirty, but I am sure we have one at home, so I declined. Midas - Auto Repair Near Me - Ankeny, Iowa

I had an appointment at 2pm for an oil change and to check a tire that was leaking air. When I got there I was told it would be about 30min before they could get it in. I left and came back within the 30 min and still waited another 20 before it was pulled into the bay. The assistant manager shoed me the price for the oil change which was $100, had i not been on time crunch and needed the tire looked at i would've left. I was told that they would not be able to patch my tire as it was damaged too close to the side which was fine and I opted to go ahead and get new tires since I already knew I would need to soon. I noticed on the estimate where she showed me the tire price that it was recommended for my serpentine belt to be changed, at this point I was already there for an hour and I told her if that need done then I guess do it since I was leaving for Tennessee the next day. She stated it would be another 2 hours and I took a walk and came back after 20min and I said something about my windshield washer fluid and she said oh yeah mechanic said it's cracked and I said no the pump pops out, I asked if they actually looked to see if it was cracked and was told no. I was told my oil was empty and my power steering fluid was low. I asked if everything was topped off and was told yes. As I'm sitting there and she told me that they got the wrong size belt and then got another wrong size and then she needed to order it from Omaha. She said she would call me when it came in. I was there for 3.5 hours for basically an oil change and new tires. As I was leaving my trailblazer was whining which I knew my power steering fluid was empty. When I got home my son on law and I were changing the bushing for my washer fluid and noticed that my belt is still in good condition. I was charged $300 for the belt to be changed. We returned to Midas this morning so I could get a refund and to have my power steering fluid to be filled since that had not been done. We asked why it was recommended that my belt to be changed and the manager said he did not know and he was going to follow up. I asked him if he looked at the belt and he said no, did you want me too? I told him nevermind. I told him I never had an issue when Rich worked there, Rich was always honest with me. I have an odd car, it's a Chevy Cruze Turbo Diesel. My check engine light is on, ran codes, it's a turbo boost issue and an exhaust temp. I just had the alternator replaced and DEF tank replaced at Bob Brown Chevrolet. Wouldn't you know it, it's the alternator and the turbo. I really appreciated Josh and the technician who were just honest with me, time to say goodbye to my beloved car. The cost of replacing the turbo, plus the fight I have to go through with Bob Brown isn't worth it. I hate dealerships, but had no choice for the first repairs, finding a mechanic to work on this car, besides the dealership has been hard. I will bring every car I own to this Midas. 10/10 read more

These guys are criminals! They told me they couldn't rotate my tires because my lug nuts would be damaged. But they would sell me new lug nuts for $400! The last place I got my car serviced had no trouble with my lug nuts. read more

Took 3 hours to change oil and replace a couple tires and charged up the ass. They made sure they got my money before finishing the work and once they got paid they took their sweet time finishing. Five people got their cars fixed in the time i was there and got the run around. Never coming back again. read more

Great service when my husband needed an new oil gasket before taking a trip back home (250 miles one way) and our normal shop was busy. He was able to get in and get out in a reasonable time and they didn't talk him into parts he didn't need and even gave us the rear gasket that came in the pack to hold onto if we needed it later. Staff was friendly and did not over charge! Would highly recommend if you need tires, oil changes, or repairs! read more

First bad experience starter when my car wouldn't start. Midas charged me almost $600 for a new starter in my small, 2003 Toyota Corolla. Then charged me $350 for a muffler problem. I found out the parts were SO MUCH cheaper online, so I bought my own brake pads and rotors and changed them myself for $30. I understand that they need to make money, but because of the simple fact that Midas has overcharged me, I've spent hours on you tube learning how to change my wheel barring and spark plugs so I don't have to go to this terribly overpriced place. You won't be seeing me again, instead I will be performing all my own car repairs simply because you ignited a fire in me to never get scammed again. read more

I was pulled in with a coupon for an oil change and a tire rotation. Made my appointment online and even mentioned the coupon I was gonna use. In addition I filled in the blanks as the type of vehicle to be serviced. Was told I'd get a call in an hour to give me a better idea of when during the window I chose. Never got the call. So I called and spoke with service mgr. This would have been a perfect time to tell me my vehicle didn't fall under the coupon I wanted to use. Instead I made no other oil change appointment elsewhere. Showed up and was told it would be $100 instead of what the coupon said. Wasted time and prolonged me getting my oil change done. I have a 2014 beloved Jeep Wrangler sport 2 door that I take to Rich & the guys at this Midas on Oralabor in Ankeny-I have my oil changed/tire rotation done here-last year I wanted tires-So-these guys are seriously tire experts-talk to them and tell them what you want your vehicle to do-I wanted to be able to drive in snow and be able to stop-They showed me different kinds/brands and I got what I wanted. About 6 months ago I had my Jeep in for regular service-oil change/tire rotation-I was driving on a straight road but started to pull to the right-so I took it back and had it aligned-which is when they found I had a oil leak. I brought my Nissan Sentra in to my local Midas after looking up reviews online for the best shop to take my car. I usually do work on my own car to save money, but something else usually goes wrong when i do. :) I had an issue with a rusted out spot on my exhaust. About a year ago I decided to cut it clean out with a saw zaw, and put a piece of flex pipe in with clamps as a temporary fix. With time however, the cheap flange i put in rusted through as well, and i figured it was time to get it done the right way. I submitted a quote inquiry online and received a call within minutes. I took it in that afternoon, and they quoted me for an hour of labor and scheduled the work for the next day. I dropped it off around 8:30 AM and was asked what time i needed it done. I had no preference as long as it was back later that day. They had a few other vehicles in front of me, so they prioritized me for later in the day. I had a call from Rich around 4:00 PM to come pick it up, and was in and out quickly. I checked the new piece of pipe they had welded in and it looked amazing. I won't be having to replace it again for a few years, and left feeling very satisfied. The overall price was $129.00 ($115.00 for one hour of labor, the rest for the pipe). The price was very accurate for what i was quoted, the work was great, and the customer service was very friendly.
