I was due for an oil change so thought it could be related to that so I got my oil changed here. I was told by one of the mechanics that I had metal in my oil and to see a full mechanic shop. So I take my car to a mechanic a few days later and they inform me that my oil and oil filter were in fact not changed and doesn't look like it had been changed for awhile even though I got my "oil changed" here regularly. Clearly they didn't finish the job. Also, they are waaay over priced. I called another service after the fact and found Dis-Honest Wrenches was overcharging by $600. There are many places in Des Moines for better auto service.

THIS PLACE IS THE WORST SERVICE CENTER…read more Firstly we went in and paid over $1000 for 4 tires and an oil change. Mind you this price was during their "Tire sale" Cut to a day later, our car is spewing loads of smoke out the back and into the interior cabin. Call them, they claim they did nothing wrong to the car and didnt mess with anything other than the tires and oil change. Upon closer inspection the canister purge valve had been knocked loose and there was clearly greasy fingerprints from where someone had tried to force it back into place improperly. Shady practices from something clearly tampered with. Cut to a couple months later, our tires are leaking air. search for holes, objects, anything. No signs of anything so i call them up as i am well within my warranty time and mileage. I am rudely talked AT on the phone and told that the warranty only covers "things that were their fault" and seems very accusatory basically insinuating that i did something to the tire. Bring it in, low and behold, it was an improper seal around the tire, being their fault. The thing that irritated me the most from this visit though is the fact im currently waiting for a motor for my drivers side window. it was up, i would have gladly told them not to roll it down, if i thought for a second that my going in for tires warranted that information in any way. to make a long story short they rolled it down, and were unable to get it back up and basically told us that they weren't going to try to get it back up, and that it wasn't their problem as its their "policy" to roll the window down. i have since taken photos of the inside of the building, checked their websites, looked up any bit of information i can and i havent seen this "policy" posted anywhere for a customer to be able to see. otherwise i would have informed them, hey maybe roll one of the other 3 windows down since i had to go to a COMPETENT service center now and pay $87 just to get the window back up because you messed it up out of sheer stupidity. Not to mention he refused to offer the slightest bit of help on getting the window up that he lowered, forcing us to drive home with our 5mo old in his carseat in the cold. The service center is garbage. The customer service is trash. They will lie and say what they need to, in efforts to cover their own asses when they mess up. Their management is a joke. They just need to shut down and let a worth while service center go in that location.

After having AAA Motor Club come and puff up my tires, I drove here to get the tires checked. They didn't find any problems, I was told they maybe did some "resealing" (whatever that is....) and my valve extenders were ok, and they didn't charge me a thing! I argued and said, "I must pay you for your time" and they said "no." Ok, so if the manager is reading this, I DID go hunt down a bank so I could get some extra cash and I came back and gave your employee a "tip" for all the work done. My tires seem fine so far! I'm crossing my fingers! Ok one caveat if you are in a motorhome: They can only work on tires with up to 20 inch rims. My Class C motorhome seemed workable to them. Based on what they said, if you are in a Class A, you may have to go elsewhere. If you bring your motorhome here, you will have to park at Menard's next door as there is no good place to park an RV in their lot. When you bring your motorhome over to their working area bay, DO NOT use the Menard's "cut through." Right after the "cut through," there is a dip that you will get hung up on with low clearance in the RV. What you need to do is go out, and go BEHIND the Chili's next door (and pray for not many cars in the Chili's parking lot....). Do NOT go in front of the Chili's. If you do that, there is a "hump" that may hang up your RV with the low clearance. When I brought my RV over, I did go through the Menard's "cut through" but I made an immediate right turn through the Big O parking lot. Well, don't try that either! I scraped bottom on the initial part of the "dip" trying to make the right turn. Just go out of the Menard's lot and drive behind Chili's. When you are done, do the same thing, go out behind the Chili's.

The assistant manager shoed me the price for the oil change which was $100, had i not been on time crunch and needed the tire looked at i would've left. I was told that they would not be able to patch my tire as it was damaged too close to the side which was fine and I opted to go ahead and get new tires since I already knew I would need to soon. I noticed on the estimate where she showed me the tire price that it was recommended for my serpentine belt to be changed, at this point I was already there for an hour and I told her if that need done then I guess do it since I was leaving for Tennessee the next day. She stated it would be another 2 hours and I took a walk and came back after 20min and I said something about my windshield washer fluid and she said oh yeah mechanic said it's cracked and I said no the pump pops out, I asked if they actually looked to see if it was cracked and was told no. I was told my oil was empty and my power steering fluid was low. I asked if everything was topped off and was told yes. As I'm sitting there and she told me that they got the wrong size belt and then got another wrong size and then she needed to order it from Omaha. She said she would call me when it came in. I was there for 3.5 hours for basically an oil change and new tires. As I was leaving my trailblazer was whining which I knew my power steering fluid was empty. When I got home my son on law and I were changing the bushing for my washer fluid and noticed that my belt is still in good condition. I was charged $300 for the belt to be changed. We returned to Midas this morning so I could get a refund and to have my power steering fluid to be filled since that had not been done. We asked why it was recommended that my belt to be changed and the manager said he did not know and he was going to follow up. I asked him if he looked at the belt and he said no, did you want me too? I told him nevermind. I told him I never had an issue when Rich worked there, Rich was always honest with me. I will never go back.
