I never thought I'd be writing a review for a pawn shop, but I have to write something about Devon Pawn Shop. So, my mom and my grandma passed away in the same year, and I boxed up their things and only recently started looking into them when I moved. I found a bunch of jewelry that's just not my style (think old lady stuff, brooches, and loud costume jewelry), and I had no one to give it to, plus I didn't know if any of it was real and/or valuable. I found Devon Pawn Shop online because it's nearby, called them to ask if they wouldn't mind taking a look at my stuff to see if it's worth anything. The woman on the phone said she would have no problem taking a look for free, and to come on in. When I went there, I could not believe that first, they have street parking right out in front. Second, the place is spotless. Not at all seedy, or dirty, or filled with crappy products for sale at exorbitant prices. It's a small lobby, with windows like a bank. The woman that owns it, Albina, is as sweet as can be. She was honest and very fair with me. She carefully looked over all my pieces, testing them to see if they were indeed real, and letting me know which ones were just costume jewelry and which were real. She then offered me what I thought was an extremely fair price for a few pieces. I went in again today with some more pieces of jewelry I unpacked from my mom's things. Albina recognized and remembered me! She again had no problem looking over my things, again was honest and offered me a great price on the items she was interested in purchasing. I've been to a few other pawn shops over the years and most are run by men who have made me feel very unsafe, were very gruff and rude with me, and gave me pennies for things I know they probably marked up 500% and sold. Albina is beyond friendly, knowledgeable, and very professional. I will continue bringing her my business for years to come. read more
