I had previously bought my vehicle to another Toyota dealership, and they told me that they weren't able to fix the problem. When I pulled into Lia Toyota of Colonie, I was greeted by the service associate Nick. He assured me they would thoroughly troubleshoot the problem. In short order they had diagnosed the problem and assured me they could fix it. They showed me exactly what the problem was, and what caused it. (The problem was caused by another company installing a trailer hitch. They even put that in writing so I could try and recoup some of my repair bill from that other company.) They had to order parts, which wouldn't be there until the next day, but the timetable they gave me for repairs was right on schedule as they promised. They got me into a rental car and they fixed the vehicle in the time frame they promised for the price they quoted. It was a very expensive repair, but they offered financing with monthly payments so that worked out okay. The waiting area was very comfortable and they had complimentary coffee and donuts. Everybody was kind and polite from start to finish. I highly recommend the service department at Lia Toyota of Colonie!

    I first visited this dealership back in 2006. I had a new Toyota, put 5000 miles on it, and came to…read moredo the 5,000 service indicated in the manual. It was an oil change and a tire rotation. I was told that due to the upstate New York location the car is were considered and hazard service and there was more work that had to be done as part of the 5000 mi service. I did not see any value in the additives and additional work that they were proposing and ask them to just do the 5,000 mi service per the manual. This led to a few back and forth exchanges were they informed me that they would place a letter in my permanent file stating that I refused dealer recommended services. I asked them what ramifications such a letter had and they couldn't think of a single one. Needless to say, I did not go back there. 19 years later, I drove my mom's car and there was vibration when I pressed on the brake pedal. Does generally means that the surface of the rotors is rough. I let her know that and she took it to Lia Toyota for a break inspection. The dealership provided the tread depth measurements and the pad thicknesses and said that both the tires and the brakes were good. They then wanted $80 to take the car for a spin to help identify the issue. Thinking that this was strange I took the car to a private shop and asked them to pop the wheels off. There was visible corrosion of the rear rotors as soon as I took the wheels off. Replacing the rotors solved the problem. I already didn't trust this dealership but apparently I failed to underestimate them.

For the past three years, we have been going to New Country Lexus on Rt. 9, a corporation, with our newer car on warranty. However, I am back at Hari's today for a NYS Car Inspection, and I am blown away by the difference in customer service between Hari's and New Country. Hari's-- 1. My appointment time was met, no delays because of over booking! Waited at Lexus 2 hrs 45 min in Jan. 2025 for minor service of tire rotation and fluids. (2 Star review posted) 2. The appt. took 30 min as I was told. 3. The owner Hari took the time to say Hello. He remembered the last name. He asked about my husband. He said he appreciated my business. 4. My car was ready on time for me to get to another appointment. I was told by the worker who makes appts. etc. that you do not have to go to the dealer for maintenance even if you have a warranty. Of course, you must the keep paperwork. I appreciate the convenience of having work done at Hari's in a timely manner.

    I dropped my car off on a Friday stating that the cabin of the car was filling with exhaust. They…read moresaid that the exhaust smell was coming from a leaking oil seal which required the transmission to be removed to fix. 2 weeks later, I picked my car up on a Friday at closing and paid $3,300. Within 2 minutes driving down the road, my cabin was again filled with the same exhaust smell and the car now also had a slight vibration that wasn't there before. I dropped the car back off that night after closing. When I called Saturday morning, I was told that they did not have time to look at it that day. On Monday, I stopped on the way home from work. The owner was in the process of looking under the hood of my car. When I approached and started to discuss the issue with my car he became very aggressive in his demeanor and tone of voice. Never once did I ask for a refund on the work that was done (that didn't fix the problem I brought the car in for) nor did I accuse them making up a problem that didn't exist. I simply wanted the issue I brought the car in for to be done promptly since I was now on week 3 without a car. The owner made me feel very uncomfortable to the point I started to cry so I excused myself and left. The owner followed up a half hour later via phone call, speaking very nicely to me, sharing the great news that the parts needed to fix the original problem would run me around $50 and they had discovered the vibration was due to a loose bolt that was now tightened and fixed. We picked the car up Friday and I was informed they charged me 1/2 the labor bringing this new additional bill to $270 for a total of $3,570. Paying so much when the original issue was under $500 definitely isn't ideal. However, that is not the reason for my low review. For me, I feel they should have checked that the original problem was fixed before giving it back to me the first time. The biggest issue was how I was treated by the owner. I would not want anyone else to have to experience that I had. The other two workers were very polite and respectful.

This is my third time at Monro Muffler in Rotterdam in the past two months. The first two visits were for tires on two different vehicles. They were able to accommodate me on consecutive days, which really helped me out. They gave me a great price on tires, better than other places I checked, and they offered recommendations at different price points without any pressure to go with the most expensive option. I appreciated that. Ed at the front desk was personable, helpful, and professional. I was very pleased with both appointments. Fast forward to this week when I needed my car inspected ASAP. I knew it was coming due, but I had a vacation planned and was going to handle it when I returned. A snowstorm messed up my plans, I could not get back when expected, and I had to cancel my dealership appointment. When I tried to reschedule, they were booked out a few weeks. A couple quick oil change places could not get me in until midweek either. I remembered my previous experiences at Monro on Chrisler Ave and called on my way to work. I told Ed I needed it done as soon as possible. He said he could take care of it that day and told me what time to bring it in. He got me in right away just like he said he would. It was done quickly and effortlessly. No attempt to sell me anything, just exactly what I asked for. Friendly interaction, great service, and consistency all three times. If I need tires, brakes, or mufflers in the future, this is where I am going.
