On a drive from Chicago to New York, we pulled off the highway to get lunch in Pennsylvania, I used the phone app to find a restaurant near by, as we knew we did not want traditional fast food and it led us to Devil's. The cashier who greeted us was very pleasant and explained everything on the menu in such a great way, the only thing that made it hard to decide was that everything was so good. I had the brisket and my daughter had the ribs. It was indeed true southern style barbecue that was so tender the meat easily broke off as you picked it up with the fork, the flavor was perfect. Absolutely lives up to the Hype. Cute little off the beaten path place that is a diamond in the rough of long road trip travel food joints. About 2 minutes off the highway, the place absolutely lived up to the hype of the other reviewers. We consider ourselves a bit of BBQ snobs and everyone in our family devoured these meals with ease and pleasure. Even our 5yr old loved his chicken tenders, and our 8yr old enjoyed her 1/3 of pulled pork so much she got a second for when she got hungry later in our drive. The staff was so nice and accommodating. The place was very clean, with outside and indoor seating. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. Love, love, love this restaurant! The BBQ is delicious. They serve your choice of meat, pulled pork, brisket, or smoked turkey, "naked" and you can top it with your your favorite of several sauces. Love the atmosphere, too. Picnic tables with rolls of paper towels for napkins are complemented by a decor I can only describe as "rustic American backyard." Stopped by for lunch in middle of road trip. Kid 1 loved everything, including the ginger beer. Kid 2 gave the brisket a big thumbs up. Ever since this place has started it has been a great testament to good old fashioned BBQ. From the fair prices to the amazing food and great atmosphere. The owner and his crew are nothing but accommodating and fun and easy going. They make you feel like you are eating at home. Also they work with those on the run. The sauces they have in house are great on all there food items. The sweet bbq sauce and white garlic bbq sauce are heavenly. The pulled pork is succulent and moist with great smoke flavor. The brisket has a great crust on it and you can taste the true delicious beef flavor in it. The smoked Turkey is so good you may want it more the compared to your own mother's Thanksgiving turkey. Then the ribs. So tender they fall right off the bone and the smoke flavor and as stated before the crust on is amazing. The crust is formed by there on house spice blend that is sweet and smoky and has great hints of paprika that it makes you wish you had it in a bottle at home. The sides are in a whole other ballgame. From the seasoned fries to coleslaw to the devil horns (bacon wrapped stuffed jalapenos).
