The shear number of bottles on the bar will keep your eyes moving about and hard to focus on anything else. For food, I had the wagyu meatballs and couscous salad. Both were well sized and utterly delicious. I'll be back here again for sure

This visit marked our third time at OBC Kitchen, and once again, it did not disappoint. This time we experimented with timing and booked an early reservation at 2:45 pm on a Saturday. We crossed over into the dinner menu and discovered something wonderful: the service and ambiance were even better than the busier evening hours after 6 pm. The staff was exceptionally attentive. Every dish and cocktail option was explained thoughtfully, which I appreciate, especially because I enjoy cocktails that come with a bit of theater. When drinks are presented with care, described well, and executed beautifully, the experience becomes part performance, part craft. Here, they delivered perfectly. The food, as always, was superb. We shared several chef selections including Beef Tallow Fries, Southern Grouper, Bacon in a Glass, and the Cola-Braised Short Ribs. Each dish was rich, flavorful, and confidently executed. Dessert continued the celebration with the Churro Cheesecake, and to our delight we were also gifted the Warm Buttermilk Donuts, which felt like a small act of culinary generosity. In a departure from my usual Manhattan and Old Fashioned flights, I tried a Bloody Mary and The Cure, both excellent and beautifully balanced. At this point I can confidently say OBC Kitchen is one of my favorite restaurants in the country. The consistency, creativity, and hospitality make every visit memorable. A special thank you to the team who took care of us on Saturday, March 7th, 2026. You elevated an already wonderful experience and made it even better than usual.

We arrived 30 minutes early and got seated immediately. Our group started with the Fried Green Tomatoes and they were fantastic. I had the Southern Fried Chicken with Southern Green Beans and Heirloom Carrots. My wife had the Beef Medallions with Asparagus, Stewed Tomatoes and Heirloom Carrots. Our friends had the Halibut Special with Stewed Tomatoes and the Iceberg Wedge with a loaded Baked Potato. For cocktails I had the New Old Fashioned. This place has a cool history and I am glad to have experience. Very eclectic decor and vibe. Next time, we would like to enjoy the outside bar/patio area.

Although the corn pudding was a bit off, but I'm a texture person. The wine, phenomenal, the old fashioned? Even better. Everything about this meal was great and just delicious. Didn't feel bloated after, very filling. And the fact that this is a historic property that was established before the Civil War was even cooler. Absolutely breathtaking 100% recommend. It is a bit on the pricier side so just be mindful of that but if you're willing to drop some money on good food, this is the place to do it. The service was wonderful and they were on top of everything. Checking in, making sure we had what we needed. Overall an exceptional dining experience.

The ambiance is the perfect blend of modern sophistication and warm, cozy comfort--you really have to see (and feel) it for yourself. The service was outstanding from start to finish. Every server we encountered was polished, deeply knowledgeable about the menu, and full of spot-on recommendations. We were especially fortunate to have Richard--a manager of the restaurant personally greet us and set the tone for the evening. From the moment we walked in, his genuine warmth and attentiveness made us feel like honored guests rather than just another table. The food was nothing short of spectacular. The Maui ribeye steak--marinated to perfection and cooked exactly as ordered--was tender, juicy, and bursting with that signature sweet-savory island flavor--was one of the best steaks any of us have ever had. Equally impressive was the ahi tuna salad: beautifully seared rare tuna slices over crisp greens, drizzled with just the right amount of citrus-soy vinaigrette, and finished with crunchy wontons and avocado. Light yet completely satisfying, it was the ideal contrast to the richness of the steak. Everything about the evening--the atmosphere, the impeccable service led by Richard, and the flawless execution of dishes like the Maui steak and ahi tuna salad--made our double celebration feel truly special. We left already planning our next visit. J. Alexander's didn't just meet expectations; it exceeded them in every possible way.

They had a fish special, so I decided to give it a try. The portions were generous, but unfortunately, the entire meal was excessively salty.
