I got to the beach around 9:00am. Both of the parking lots were almost completely empty besides a few scattered cars. The beach is clean, quiet, and mostly family oriented. Not a lot of rocks. I would reccomend checking this beach out with the family at some point soon if you haven't been. A bonus is the local community isn't charging the typical $15-$20 they usually do until the end of June. Tip: -Everyone at the beach was social distancing and good about not setting up near each other, so there is no concern there -There is a small kitchen located right on the strip between the two beaches that offers light refreshments and the usual beach-type grub (burgers, etc.) -There are public bathrooms located right at the beach, as well as an area to wash off your feet -In a typical time (outside of Covid) the beach can get fairly busy and you may not find parking after 12pm

Great little beach! Not going to find white sands here, but is clean, plenty of room to throw out a blanket and enjoy the view, mostly families, people very friendly, nice playground for those with kids too! $5 for close, convenient parking and you can come and go if you need to. The walk up restaurant is reasonable with lots of yummy options. Clean bathrooms too! As an out-of-stater I would recommend checking this out and I will be back if I'm ever back in the area!

There was a spot that you could grab food and drinks, a playground for the kiddos, parking for a price (bring cash!), and lifeguards on duty.

It's a wonderful place to go just to "soak it all in" and take some really beautiful photos. I honestly wanted to leave this place 5 stars so bad but the only thing was stopping be was the hike down to the beach area. There's no pathway and you have to climb over slippery rocks and be very careful even when wearing the right shoes. If you are physically able to go down there though, it's definitely worth it.

You'll see a very casual sign nestled between two houses (one is the castle-like private estate the park is named for). To be honest, I was more enthralled with the castle-like home, but alas, it's a private residence and very exclusive, so you can only see a tiny bit of it. It's hard for a coastal park to blow me away because I have some wonderful ones where I live. But, if you're trying to catch some water views while in Marblehead, you should stop by. I noticed a couple climbing down the rocks and foraging the shoreline, but I can't speak to if that is safe or recommended. There's free street parking and it would be a cool place to take a picnic. When we visited, it was totally quiet and private feeling.

I am going to join the previous reviewers who said they had a fantastic experience…read more My husband and I took the intro to kayaking course with Kevin and there were 7 other people in our class. I was grateful because there were several other beginners like me. I'm fairly coordinated, but I've never done this before and didn't want to look like an idiot. Before we even got into the water, Kevin talked to us about the boat, sea conditions, and other important safety facts. His instruction was very informative and his funny, sarcastic side made it very enjoyable and entertaining. The water was pretty wavy and it was fairly windy out, but it was easy to paddle and it was super fun being in the water. Kevin taught us different techniques of kayaking and then at the end a "wet exit" which involved dumping yourself out of the boat and into the water. It was about a 3 hour adventure and well worth the money. My husband and I feel very confident to rent kayaks on our own or take a more advanced course, and we will definitely call Salem Kayak again. Awesome job!

They are passionate about kayaking and have taught it and done it for many years. If you are a beginner at kayaking like I am or if you already know how and want to learn some new maneuvers, Kevin and Gillian can teach you. They also have sunset trips and full moon paddles, both of which I someday will have the courage to do. Go down to Salem Willows and talk to both or either of these people and make new friends in the process. Check out their website for upcoming events at www.rockpaddlesurf.com.
