Took me a while to post this here, but this was my Facebook post from February of 2019. I pay a bit more per gallon than most for my oil, certainly more than anyone who calls for every delivery. I am on a contract, pay a budgeted amount every month, have my burner serviced every year (it's cost is built into the budget amount), and it is so worth it. We woke up this morning with no heat, and an 18 month old on her way over. We called our provider, Arcudi Oil, at about 7:15 this morning and had heat by 9:30. I have been a customer of Arcudi for three years. Although some of the comments here are true regarding initial billing issues and which company you are truly doing business with (Arcudi, Devaney, Patriot etc.) I have never had an issue with customer service or problem resolution. I believe Arcudi owns all the companies mentioned above and that's why both my oil (Arcudi) and propane (Devaney) are billed on my Arcudi account. Each fall we pay upfront for the firm fixed price for the oil which comes with automatic deliveries. I believe their prices are fair for the area and they have good customer service. I wont be changing anytime soon. read more

Thumbs up to Devaney for LP. Built a new house and had an option of going oil or LP. Chose LP for heat as the cooking is on electric. They provided install and lease of the 500 gallon tank. They have been great for service, install and pricing. We initially signed up for will call as needed. We got a call our tank might be low and sure enough we were down to 20%. They estimated based on temp and possible usage. Impressive. We signed up for auto delivery now so there's no chance of running out. read more

After 30+ years of service with furnace and boiler, we needed a pump repair. Serviceman (whom was very great) came and diagnosed the problem and was set to return on a weekday for service. As the day arrived received a phone call from the company that since we hadn't received an oil delivery in a year, they were not able to do the repair. This is the only company that has serviced the furnace at our residence for the last 30 years! read more

HORRIBLE company. We moved in during the summer and had a full oil tank. We had the heat turned off the whole time and then at the end of the summer we got a huge bill and their explanation for how we went through so much oil during the summer was suspect at best. Then the real fun started. Even though they were supposed to be monitoring our oil levels we ran out on one of the coldest days of the year. I will say as a positive that they did work to get us oil pretty quickly once this happened, but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. And we gave specific instructions on where the oil tank was to fill but that didn't get communicated to the driver and we got woken up at 2:00 AM when he arrived. It took several weeks before they got that bill correct though. We just got a new bill yesterday and the price was $100 more than it should be. They are trying to come up with some shady billing practices on how we have a contract but don't have a contract so they changed our rate. Totally outrageous. There are companies that have bad service and those that try to skirt the law and take advantage of people and these guys are definitely the latter. I can't imagine how many poor old women have died from the cold because they didn't get oil or lost all their life savings being scammed by these guys. QUICK UPDATE TO THIS: I had a contract for them to provide oil and my landlord had a separate contract for them to provide maintenance. When my contract to provide oil ran out and I did not renew it, they cancelled the contract with my landlord and refused to provide service as retribution for me not moving forward with them. Again I would totally avoid these scam artists. read more

Stay away. And never give them your credit card unless you want to automatically be charged for oil that is consistently higher priced than the competition. Also, never enter into a service plan agreement unless you want perpetual renewal. Without notice. Even if the price increases. Every year. Without a statement notifying you of the enrollment. I called EVERY year asking to be informed BEFORE I was enrolled in the service contract. Yet every year for THREE years I was automatically enrolled. No warning, no email, no phone call. Nothing. Not even a receipt. Just a phantom credit card charge from "Energy Provider". The onous of responsibility was mine to investigate, follow up and ask questions about a charge I did not authorize. Even after a $30 price increase of the plan. When would a call to the customer be deemed appropriate? Obviously not after a $30 increase. Maybe $50? $75? $300? I guess I shouldn't be too upset. After three years I was offered a coupon for discounted oil (perhaps this would get the price closer to the competitors?). I was also told that "automatic delivery services are all or nothing and that enrollment into the service plan was no exception". My guess is that statement is not true. That would be like getting your car washed and being forced into the undercarriage rinse and hot wax special with no discussion only to be charged without your consent for dollar amount of which you were not made aware. It's petroleum. Not nuclear weapons. This degree of secrecy and back door financial dealing is simply not necessary. And the worst part? I would have enrolled in the service plan if they made good on the promise to call me before being charged. The good news is that we are dealing with heating oil, not some sort of ultra proprietary secret formula with sage, myrrh, and virgin tears. There are many dealers of this mysterious fossil fuel which would love my business and may even call me before enrolling me into additional services at a highly inflated price. Stay away. Stay far away. Stay at least the delivery truck hose length away. read more

I have had nothing but problems with Devaney since I have been in Boston. I have been charged for oil I did not order (which was rectified only after my girlfriend posted a bad yelp review, under the condition she took it down), I have had my oil put in other people's tanks, and now they have promised to deliver oil and it has been 4 days without heat or hot water in my apartment. The customer service over the phone is very unhelpful. They have no useful information regarding deliveries or why deliveries have allegedly failed, and no schedules for when to expect a re-try. 'They are doing their best.' All I want is some oil in my tank so I don't freeze and can take a hot shower. Devaney is not delivering and will not help me understand why they can not or will not deliver so I can not rectify the situation. If they do not deliver tonight as they claim they will I will be needing a new oil company for tomorrow, otherwise this will be my last order with Devaney because I am not going to stand for this level of customer disservice any longer. read more

Beware: having a contract with Devaney Energy for regular fuel delivery service will not guarantee you a peace of your mind. When the strom was coming and with the temperature below zero, they let us run out of fuel and we had no heat. I had no idea that this could happen to a regular customer but I guess it can with Devaney Energy. read more

I have been a customer on auto delivery, auto pay. With locked in price for many years under contract, but this year they claim I didn't sign contract and they are gouging me with high prices. We have used Devaney for many years, and finally our burner is at the end of it's life. We priced gas conversions, and Devaney's price was $3000 more than others. We picked another company and the conversion will happen soon, however we have an issue and need service. Devaney has decided that we are no longer their customer, even though we have a service contract in place, and will not do this service call. This is an obvious breach of contract, and they don't seem to care, and told me as much. There are better options in the area, folks. read more

I signed on with Devaney Energy 8 years ago. They have been totally reliable, efficient and service minded. It starts when you call and deal with their friendly and competent staff. My most recent experience was very telling. My furnace died. I called the office and they said they would have someone over in the afternoon and "when the heat goes out its always same day service". I was amazed with this answer. The serviceman showed up and said I needed a special part which he hoped he could locate in light of the fact that my furnace was quite old. The next morning I got a call from Devaney. They had located my part and would install it in the afternoon. The cold weather/snowstorm was approaching and sure enough, just in the nick of time they installed the part and the heat was on. I can say without any hesitation that Devaney is a quality shop that cares about their customers. read more

I just bought a house that devaney serviced and was told that the heat didn't work. I contacted them to have a service call done and the salesperson told me I was out of oil and had me sign a contract. Hmmm, the real estate agent got wind of this and let me know i had paid $1000 for oil at my closing, and that there was no way I was out of oil. After the oil delivery my heat still didn't work, and 3-4 service calls later I was told I needed a new boiler. Then I get a bill for $1600 and still have no heat in the winter! The sales rep lied to me when I spoke with him, was very rude and told me that I had told him I was out of oil! I was trying to work with them since I have an excellent credit score, always pay my bills and am a responsible person, but these guys are crooks! Don't use them!!! I'm stuck with oil I don't need, worried about freezing pipes and am totally getting a gas system installed. They were not helpful at all and didn't seem to care that I was worried about my house or that I was freezing! DO NOT use this company! read more

Acudi oil prices are competitive. They have been religious filing my tank for years. They only missed once. When I called they said the truck ran out of oil and it was mistakenly reported that my tank was full. They took care it the next day. Also, I just had them tune up my furnace. They arrived on time, did a thorough job and cleaned up after. I could not have asked for more. Based on this I naturally recommend them. read more

We became customers when we moved into our new place last April. The previous owners were very happy with their service and highly recommended them so we took their advice. So far so great....I was going to do a MassEnergy pricing but they gave me a promo deal which by far is a much better deal. During last week's subzero weather, two out of the three zones in our house stopped working. Dave showed up the next morning and immediately diagnosed the issue which of course was the frozen pipes and gave me a quick DIY solution(hair dryers). The second technician that repaired the leak was also very thorough, he labeled the part he replaced with the date he changed it . Both cleaned up after themselves and left the furnace spotless. Recently moved to the area and was left with an empty tank by the previous tenants. I work a lot and and needed to schedule a time for them to come out, fill and prime my tank while I was home to let them in. Scheduling an appointment turned out to be a lot harder than it should have been. They finally gave me a date and time and I took work off to be there to let them in-they were a no show. I called their customer service line (after giving them 2 hours past the scheduled delivery time) and spoke with a short tempered woman who didn't apologize for the delay or give me an ETA on the delivery-just said they are running late. I still have no idea if they are coming but working in management in a customer service based industry-I understand things happen. Though things do happen, manners, courtesy calls when an there will be a service disruption, and even a simple "sorry for the inconvenience "go a long way, none of which I received. read more

Initially, I was paying $2.49/gallon which isn't terrible or great. When the second year came around, I was charged $3.00/gallon. This instantly doubled my heating bills. I should have called to see what my rate was going to be so that's on me. Several years ago, after having several problems getting my furnace tuned up (which ended up being because it is somewhat unique), I had these guys do a tune up and they not only did it perfectly, they wrote all of the specs on the side of a control box so all future techs would get it right! I lost heat this past Monday night (11 p.m.). They sent someone to evaluate at 1:30 a.m. and the final repairman (Art) arrived at 9:30 a.m. My heat was back around 11 a.m. (new circulator and pressure relief valve). Art was knowledgeable, courteous, professional and pleasant, efficient and effective. He did a fantastic job. So far (6 or 7 years, I think) everything they've done has been top notch. read more

This company is a complete rip off. First they charge to have propane set up and then they overcharge for the propane, and to rid yourself of them you have to pay to have the tanks removed. Myself and some of my new neighbors have called several other companies, to learn 1. No charge to set up account. 2. No charge to end account. 3. Propane quoted at $2.69 not at the $3.50 of Devaney Energy. After several calls to Devaney they agreed to lower the delivery to $2.87 per gallon for FUTURE deliveries only. I would prefer my money back. Their answer was no money back. Stay away, any company that needs to gouge customers should be exposed. I will do my part to expose this GREEDY company. I began using Devaney when I purchased my house. It was a new experience for me as I have always had natural gas. I thought "great" one more service I need to have to maintain my home!! Well, the Devaney Team has been very friendly and made it painless. The customer service team has been great, friendly and responsive when I have questions about boiler maintenance or fuel. When they come to do service, it is clear, based on watching them, they are very thorough. Further, they come like clock work and I have never have to call them to fill the tanks..they always show up and I never fear of running out of fuel! read more

Dont walk away, run! Beware! This company is problematic on so many levels, it is hard to detail. They installed defective parts, misdiagnosed "issues", claimed to perform service that was not performed and broke items in our home. Their billing practices are also suspect - they charge "minimum charge" for servicing multiple mechanical devices on one visit (under 1 hour each) rather than aggregating the hours spend on the one visit. They also charged 300% markup for parts and defended the markup as being "reasonable". read more

We are very happy with the services that Devaney provides. They have installed a new furnace, a new water heater, and a mini-duct AC system and the quality of the work has been excellent. They do scheduled maintenance and that has been reliable so that we haven't had any issues with the equipment for many years. I rarely write reviews but this company deserves one. When we closed on our home we were told that we owned our 500 gallon under ground propane tank. Shortly after. Devaney made sure we knew that we not only did not own that tank but had no other choice other than to use their company to fill the tank with them as signed by the prior home owner. Devaney sent us a contract in the mail forcing us to either sign to allow them to come fill our tank (mind you in the middle of February when it was freezing) or have no heat as "no one else was allowed on our property to provide propane." Then moving forward, we requested (and made very specific) that we only wanted 250 gallons the first time and 200 gallons the second time when we called for a refill. Both times the driver came and completely filled the tank and left us a bill for over $1500. When I called to complain stating I could not pay for this immediately and should not have to as they provided a service that was not requested, all they did was say I could pay half now and pay for the other half when we start to get to the halfway point in our tank. Not only does Devaney not listen to the customer's specific requests, attempts to illegally monopolize the propane market stating that no one else is allowed on my property to provide propane in any way even though this agreement was made by a completely different party, but they were also price gouging by charging us well over a $1 per gallon than any other propane company in the state. I have not filled up again with Devaney in over a year and found new means of supplying heat to my home. This shady company decided over the 4th of July weekend, when they would be closed and couldn't be contacted, to randomly mail a bill for $500 with no explanation or service provided. Please do yourself the headache and never agree to use this company. Horrible customer service, horrible morals, and belittles their customers while taking away their legal rights of being allowed to shop the market to find the best service. read more

We had a boiler installed in 2018. We had problems with the install. Then we had to have several major parts replaced on this new boiler since then as well as an issue with an inappropriate employee. Everyone keeps telling us what a great bioler this is and we're the one in a million people who have a particular problem on each part replacement. A couple of days ago we had no heat/hot water. We had Devaney come out and the service tech remarked about how many issues we'd had and all the parts replaced on a new boiler. After investigation he determined the control panel was bad and had to be replaced too. He made no mention of price or not being covered. The service manager came to install the new control panel a few hours later. Again, no mention of price or coverage, just that we'd had an unusual number of problems with this new boiler and this should do the trick. Today 3/4/20 we received a bill for $432.10. When I called, Bob Duffy said that it's not "new" anymore and this is unrelated to all the other issues and not covered under the service plan. He said that no one needed to advise us of charges, that we should know what is covered and what isn't. When he called me back he offered to take off $100 "in good faith". It is unacceptable that a) a company would charge for something without informing a consumer that charges will apply so as to allow an informed decision b) that with all our known issues this isn't covered along with the rest of the problems. Mr. Duffy also says they have no record of more than one service call from us and one cleaning in July 2020. This is false. We have had techs out to look at the blinking numbers and lights that came up during no heat/hot water and because it had resumed normal function before they got to us, they said nothing was wrong. We've called them on the phone simply to tell them it's happened and they have said, well it's working now. This charge is unfair. read more

I called and spoke with Brian at Patriot Liquid Energy Services and ordered a spot delivery of oil, with a plan to order further spot deliveries as needed in the future. I was surprised to see a bill from Arcudi Oil instead, but the price was what I'd been quoted, so I figured it was a letterhead thing. I called to inquire, and was told that Arcudi was the full-service side of Patriot. Which would have been fine, if I wasn't also told that I'd signed up for two years of automatic deliveries at a set price. When I told Brian that he'd never mentioned anything of that sort on the phone, let alone that I was getting oil from a company other than the one I'd called, he told me he was "on the road" and couldn't access his notes from our prior call, and that I should call the office. The office lady (Nadine?) was also nice at first, but took a different tone after I told her for the third time that I wanted to cancel my account, not just switch it to Patriot. She then accused me of lying, as Brian would never not tell a customer that he was with Arcudi, nor that the customer was signing up for multiple years of delivery at a set price. I pointed out that, either way, I hadn't signed any manner of contract, and did not intend to pay more than I had been billed for. This went around for a while, with Nadine trying to get me to pay about 35 cents more per gallon than the price I had been initially quoted (and billed for). I finally gave up and told her that I would pay the bill I had or she could talk to my lawyer about enforcing a non-existant contract. Which worked. I was initially willing to believe it was all a mis-understanding, and may even have stayed with the company, if they hadn't been such aggressive jerks as soon as I started to question what had happened. It smells like bait-and-switch to me, and I wouldn't touch it with a 10ft pole. read more

I called this company in order to get my heater serviced. The person that answered the phone did not ask whether it was an emergency or not (this was in the middle of winter) and transfered me to another department. Upon transfer, I got a voicemail. I left a message and never got a call in return. Since then I have been able to service my heater (by another company). If this first impression is indicative of their customer service (and from reading other reviews, it seems to be), I will not be doing any business with this company at all. read more

Devaney advertizes that they will never let you run out of fuel oil. Well, in the worse blizzard, that is exactly what they did to me. I ran out of oil at 10:00pm. I alwasy pay my bills on time and was an excellent customer, but during the cold spell they left me "high and dry" and very cold. Only an answering service, no on on call at night. Had to wait until the next day to get help. No appology for letting me run out. You really get to learn a lot about your oli company when they screw up and then are no where to be found. read more

What a terrible experience - my fiancé and I just purchased our first home, which runs on oil (heat and hot water). We were left with under a quarter of a tank, so a refill was crucial. After research we called Arcudi immediately, and told them our dilemma. They told us they would be able to come and deliver in "Monday or early Tuesday". On Monday no one came, so Tuesday morning we called to confirm with the company (they said we were all set). By 3 pm Tuesday no one had shown up, so we called back - "oh, someone was supposed to call and tell you we would be down Wednesday". I cancelled on the spot, I could not believe how bad their communication had been, especially with a new customer. I called Medway Oil and they took our situation seriously. Don't use this company! They may seem really frindly at first but become ugly. We confirmed our contract end date in April then received a delivery in July without any notice or approval. We got home and there was a bill for 100+ gallons of oil...in JULY who needs oil in July? This a company who just does what they want and you get to pay. Please go with some one else if you are considering this oil company or you too could have them randomly deliver oil to you house without any notice or your approval/ asking. read more
