I initially saw Kelly and she taught me how to love my curls again and make them healthy after 6-8 years of straightening my hair. After a few times with Kelly, I saw Cierra and we did a BIG cut. My hair had never been that short. She did such a great job and I loved that length. These stylists are trained, kind, and knowledgeable about hair porosity, curl type, hair health, product ingredients, etc. I LOVE the Innersense and Aveda brands that they use as well. Calling all curly hair friends: COME HERE AND GET YOUR HAIR DID!! I walked in today for the first time feeling very nervous, as I had decided a couple weeks ago to switch stylists and salons. Cierra could not have made it any easier. She was kind, confident, and exuded professionalism. She gave me the best curly cut (a dry cut, which I've never experienced before) followed by a clarifying shampoo wash, and an added scalp scrub at her recommendation. It was tingly but felt refreshing afterwards. She gave me tips on how to diffuse the right way for my type of curl. Apparently there are many many types of curl patterns and most people have more than one. What!?!? I'm really happy with the results and maybe now I'll appreciate my curls more. If you're looking for a curly hair salon, where they ONLY work with curly hair, I was told, don't hesitate to make an appointment. Omg, I am truly happy for the first time in my life with my hair cut and the way my beautiful hair looks! I am so glad I stumbled across this salon and had my hair done by this wonderful owner, Erik. I am extremely impressed with his expertise in curly hair. He is nice and down to earth. I was very nervous when I got to my appointment. I was scared and not sure if there was such a thing as a curl stylist. He proved me wrong. I sat in the chair, he looked at my hair, made some suggestions, and went away with his cutting and hair caring magic. He talked me through everything that he was doing to my hair. At the end, I looked in the mirror and couldn't believe the curly hair on my head. I never ever saw my curls look like this ever. I never saw how beautiful my curls were. I almost cried because I was so happy with my hair and that I felt like I was a totally different person. I loved my hair and myself. It was an awesome and moving moment for me. I came in with my wife, not only had to wait 15 minutes after our appointment, I watched the stylist use the same clips used on the prior client, on my wife, without sterilizing. Erik came highly recommended and I was excited to see a subject matter expert on curly hair. I was very happy with the cut, but the rest of the experience was very disappointing. Erik doubled booked himself and left me with another stylist to finish styling my hair. For what I paid, this is very unprofessional, especially for a first time customer. The second stylist had me blow drying my own hair and I left the salon putting my hair in a ponytail and redoing it when I got home. My advice to Erik is to be present with his clients and not double book himself, especially with first time clients. read more

Don't Question it Just GO!!! Erik is a artist. He perfectly sculpted my curls so I no longer have "Hey Arnold" hair. Im from New Jersey and have never trusted anyone to cut my hair curly, Erik was the first. Luckily it was not a decision made in haste. He also did a amazing job shaping my daughters hair. She was extremely nervous to chop off her hair and even shed a few tears when she saw the end result. He perfectly executed the picture of the desired cut and checked in with her to make sure she was ok. All she wanted for her 15th birthday which ironically happened to be the same day as our appointment was to have curly hair and he gave it to her... THANK YOU ERIK!!! A really great go-to spot for those with curly hair! Erik is an excellent haircutter and framed my curls around my face in a way that was super flattering and easy to manage! I have dark skin and dark hair and got my hair colored for the first time, with Erik..I wanted something fairly subtle and "natural" looking..no blond, more chocolatey brown. I wasn't totally satisfied with the end result initially, but Erik was super gracious and scheduled another appointment for me, to add more brown to the ends of my hair. He didn't charge extra when I came back in, and was kind, understanding and professional. He did exactly what I wanted and I loved how my hair looked by the end of it! I had never had a haircut by a DevaCurl stylist before so I went to Erik's salon after reading all of the raving reviews and let me tell you, I don't plan to get a "regular" haircut ever again! I am so impressed with how Erik cut my hair to allow for my natural curls to come through and bounce. I am not one to write reviews ever but I thought I would share my experience with Erik at Devana Salon. First off, I have extremely thick and textured curly hair so when I had been looking for a stylist who knew how to manage them, it took a while for me to build up the guts to go. When I got to Devana, it was a typical Salon experience, customer service didn't blow me away nor disappoint. What unfortunately made me give this salon 2 stars is what transpired after the appointment... While I liked the cut, the color was nothing as I asked for. I had made it very clear at the beginning that I wanted a drastic change and for the highlights to be abundant. When I expressed my disappointment in the result, Erik simply said "I'm sorry you are disappointed."He then proceeded to tell me that I "should've showed him pictures prior to the appointment and that it will take multiple sessions to achieve the color I wanted." None of this was said to me prior, but of course it is nearly $400 later? Absolutely ridiculous. As a stylist, let alone a business owner, if a customer blatantly expresses their dissatisfaction with their services and you do absolutely nothing to show any remorse or urgency to make it right for them then I do not have respect for you. Additionally, the next day I was so upset that I left the salon with that reaction and nothing done to make it right, I reached out to Erik expressing my disappointment with him and my hair and asking for him to please contact me. He never responded ladies. I simply just wanted more highlights done as I asked. This was the first time I have ever spent this amount of money on my hair and actually had a full service on my hair. Unfortunately, even though I wanted the search to be over so I could finally have "my place," I will not return nor recommend. I do not like to leave reviews that are not complementary. But I feel I must. After reading Eric website I thought he could help my curly hair I am older. 65. My visit was not a good experience Eric didn't pay much attention to my hair and when I got home I found it was cut a different length one both sides. He cut it so that it was flat on top and made me look older did not discuss with me what styles would be more flattering. Most of the work was done by his assistant. He had the audacity to charge me $100 which I knew ahead of time for this haircut. No color no extensions nothing. I was very surprised at how uncomfortable the situation was with his assistant spending the bulk of time with me putting in product then curling it and all this stuff that I did not want. I just wanted a good cut that I could have every day. I honestly did not feel listened to or valued or like he was a real person with me. If I would have read this review I would have avoided a very big mistake. Shortly after I had to go to someone else to fix the cut. As it grew it was more obvious how one side was cut different length than the other. I wish him well. Pretty full of himself though and for no good reason in my eyes. He spent 5 minutes cutting my hair and then passed me off to a student on her second day. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Girl go. I moved to CO from NC, and I was really struggling to find a hair stylist that I trusted with my curly hair. I'll be moving to FL in a few months, and I'll be flying back here just to get my hair done. Eric spent 30 minutes with me discussing exactly what I wanted my hair to look like. I got a Deva Cut and Pintera highlights. He took into account my face shape, my skin tone, how I normally wore my hair, what my hair routine was, and asked for pictures of exactly what I wanted.
