Lousy customer service. Can't get warranty work done without leaving the car for 2 days. No communication with customer.

This is my go to auto parts store near down town Albany NY. There are many on Central avenue, of…read morewhich all I have shopped, but this one is the best. Why? They seem to be the only one that always have parts for my classic 1999 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. Today it helped a lot. My Jeep was sitting in the Albany Garage for a year and a half. It did not start. Knew it had to be the battery. Picked one up at this store. Grabbed my tools. Pulled the old one and replaced with new. BOOM! She started with just a little hesitation. Amazing vehicle and great auto parts store.

would give 0 stars, if I could. Place is terrible…read more I walked in and 1 associate was on a phone call assisting another customer and so I walked to the 2nd register. A female associate, Love, was sitting there. I smiled and said hello. She didn't move, greet me, or change facial expressions at all. I was going to compliment her that I liked her name... She didn't say hello or how can I help or anything. OK fine. I give my year, make, and model of my vehicle and explain that I'm looking to get a replacement front light bulb. She types a few things in the computer and says we don't have that. Didn't look. Didn't double check anything. Didn't ask anyone else for help. didn't offer any options. Didn't tell me that autozone was next door or pep boys was across the street. I'm not mad that they didn't have it in stock, but it was clear she was lazy, miserable, and doesn't care about anything or anyone. So I drove home. On my way home, I decided to stop at another location (it was on the way home), the advance auto parts on Deleware ave. I walked in, 2 associates greeted me right away and one hopped up to the register/computer and asked what I needed. I gave my year, make, and model and he immediately showed me several choices of replacement bulbs. $10, $25, and up, depending on quality, LED, etc. I asked about the $10 dollar one and he looked and explained they didn't have it in stock, but without me asking, checked other stores and said the central ave location shows 57 of them in stock! I wasn't mad at him, but it was clear the 1st location didn't even try or care. So I stepped outside and called that shop back. I wasn't going to make it by closing time, since its about 20 mins away. The phone rang over 20 times before the person picked up. go barely a hello, and I knew and could tell it was the same person I interacted with. So I called her by her name and explained I was the customer that was in there 20 mins before looking for a bulb. She said our inventory is F'd up so we don't have it. (she didn't even look). This place is horrible and it is the worst customer service I've experienced in over 30 years. Listen, I know working in customer service is hard, or can be tough, and maybe you don't like your job, but try to at least fake it. Try to smile, try to make it a good day. This person was miserable and really shouldnt' be talking to customers. 0 stars. Horrible

I've gone to Keith, Bill, Jason, and the rest for everything from brakes to inspections and I laugh at people that even remotely think that their time is somehow more valuable than those they are entrusting with their safety as well as the safety of their family members. If you take 5 mins to run through my inspection I may actually be sort of a skeptic of whether or not any of the work you were supposed to do was actually ever performed. Oh, you need time to pull the wheels to inspect my brakes? OK Oh, you're checking to make sure the wipers that keep my windshield clean are working properly? OK Wait, this isn't fast food and I am going to wait to get proper service? OK I actually understand and comprehend that all these things take time and those trained to do this job are the safe net that ensures that as I travel from A to B that I not only get there safely, but they are not or have never sold me something I did not actually need... How can you say that and be sure of that statement, Carmine? Well, I'm glad you asked! I had a Grand Am that was my baby as most that know me know, great car, nearing classic in age...and over the years as I needed work done, I went to the boys. I thought I needed rear brake work done since I had previously had my front everything worked on; pads, rotors, calipers, blah blah blah... So anyway I brought my baby in and was under the assumption I was going to need about $300+ worth of rear work done. I told Bill to do what needed to be done and to give me a call when they were done. I no sooner got back to my house when my phone rang and Bill told me that if I wanted to that I could come pick up my car anytime. I was surprised with how soon they had called and he told me that it needed a simple brake tuneup that would cost me less than $30 instead of the $300 or so that I thought I was going to spend. Yeah, this is why I go to this particular Pep Boys, because the guys here have always taken care of my needs and have never gouged me on a repair I did not need. I just brought a friend of mine there with a 1997 Town Car Limited Edition...beautiful car with some rare and discontinued parts (the thing apparently has multiple cables in the emergency brakes alone), the boys had to hunt and search and are still seeking out one cable that Lazare Lincoln can't even get because now they must search salvage and used parts to be able to complete the inspection...these guys are currently on the hunt to complete a job and to make it right. THAT is a quality work ethic...trust me, I could save time and distance going elsewhere but I'm willing to travel a little to ensure it's getting done right.

Worst experience at a shop by far. Failed inspection a vehicle in working order for "rust on the…read morerotor" and said the vehicle would need all new brakes and rotors. Failed a second vehicle with 12k miles for a tiny line of rust on the back rotor. When questioned, the service advisor's excuse was "it's up to the inspectors discretion", a corporate translation of "We decide if we want to fail you to scam you on unnecessary repairs". Don't fall for their bullcrap and certainly do not bring your vehicle here. Someone really ought to do the hidden camera exposure on this place where a mechanic runs through the vehicle and then exposes all the scammed upsells!
