If I could give them a lower rating, I sure would! These "control-freaks" just fined me $1000 for leaving my business card with "retired" written on it! I placed it under the wiper blade of "Der Fuhrer" our AOAO President. I don't think he likes me very much & religion might very well be his problem. DMI has become more of a "correctional facility" type of condo management with egos & arrogance not fitting for the "land of Aloha". If you are in the decision-making process in selecting great property Management & guidance, please go elsewhere! Hawaiiana was at one time a great partner. THIS IS THE WORST MANAGEMENT COMPANY EVER!!!! If you want to be IGNORED this is the place!!! Emails go unanimous! DMI was recently contracted to handle billing and payment processing of our HoA quarterly maintenance and monthly water bills. They seem completely incapable of timely processing or proper fee application. They're somewhat proficient at sending emails saying your payments are late...two weeks after they've been mailed. Payments take 2 weeks to process and are then applied to the wrong bill. Maintenance fees applied to water bills and vice versa...at this point I can't recommend these folks. read more

As a business partner in a condo where Destination Maui is the Mgmt company, it has been the WORST experience ever. Rena refuses to answer us on important building issues, we're on day 28 and she's talking in circles but no answers, gives excuses or no communication. Simply Google all the reviews and complaints and lawsuits and RICO complaints. They illegally debited over $2300 without authorization from our account while we were litigating their illegal fines and illegal collaboration with the new board. I am stuck with this company because the condo association hired them. Just as all of the reviews below state, they do not return phone calls or emails. I rent my condo on a third party website and virtually all complaints that we receive are a result of bad management by Destination Maui. For example they do not enforce the parking policies in our complex. I am not sure what the terms are between Destination Maui and the condo association but they must be pretty favorable to Destination Maui they way they talk people on the phone. I am not in the habit of writing negative reviews, but in this situation, I feel it wouldn't be right if I didn't tell you about my experience with Destination Maui. Destination Maui is the worst management company I have ever experienced as a homeowner. We made the mistake of hiring them 5 months ago on a 1 year contract to oversee the management of our 118 unit condominium complex in Kihei. Since then, it has been nothing but disorganization, poor customer service, unaddressed problems, and lots of unnecessary aggravation. Destination Maui has not kept our financials up to date (currently they are 2 months behind); they have insisted they sent letters and emails when they hadn't; they have lost numerous homeowners' monthly payments; they forgot to pay our onsite manager's cell phone bill causing his work phone to be turned off for days (luckily none of the homeowners had an emergency during that time); they don't return phone calls; they don't always respond to emails in a timely manner and if they do, they pick and choose which of your questions they want to answer so you have to keep track of and subsequently resend all of your unanswered questions again and again; they use an out of state, "third party company" for all of their mailings so important letters to homeowners are received 30-45 days after they were written/"promised". Basically, dealing with Destination Maui has been frustrating to me due to their unprofessional performance and lack of follow through. It has been one disappointment after another and lots of broken promises in the last 5 months. In addition, I have never seen them onsite at our complex once. Whenever I have tried to address their lack of performance, they are either "out of the office" or "on vacation" (this happened 4 times in 5 months), their voicemail is full, they simply just don't respond, or they make up excuses. I even have had an automated email response saying that our assigned person was "on vacation" and to contact a secondary individual, and when I immediately (within minutes) sent the secondary person the original email, I received the same automated email response that the secondary person was also "on vacation" except this time, there wasn't a third person to contact. Chalk it up to lots of wasted time and constant "dead ends" that leave one feeling very frustrated. At this point, I hope and pray we cut our losses and move on because in my opinion, we are far worse off with them being in charge of the management of our complex. If you are thinking about hiring Destination Maui, please take the time to find out what others have to say about their performance. I recommend talking to as many people from as many complexes as possible: homeowners, onsite managers, board members, etc., also read their online reviews on both Google and Yelp sites so that you can make the best decision for your particular scenario. Terrible company to deal with. I am a homeowner and this company was hired by the association to manage the property. They send threatening letters, then when I respond via email, and certified mail, multiple times- I get NO RESPONSE. How can you call yourself a professional business when you take NO ACCOUNTABILITY by not responding to valid concerns. I hope the association fires this company. Clearly you're not equipped to handle properly management. Homeowners should be considered customers as we pay an outrageous fee, yet you only support the association. Terrible. read more

If I could give this company a negative star I would. They hide behind "protocols", which is another way of saying jumping through hoops. When you do follow them; email requests, get notarized affidavits, fill out forms, they then ignore you. I have sent first requests, second requests, third requests. And then one of their agents forwarded me internal communications which said I was "relentless". This is an exceptionally unprofessional "service provider". If you ever see a listing by Marnel Lozano, I would just keep looking. We paid $35 each for an application fee ($70 total) once our credit was approved, we were able to see the unit. This is a no pet unit, but we have a cat in the unit I live in currently which is 2 doors down from the place we were looking to rent. Marnel calls me a couple days after she said we were good to go, that the apartment was ours, and tells me that I didn't tell her we had a cat. That the property manager told her about it. That she didn't know if she could trust me not to bring the cat once she rented us the unit. I told her that I had mentioned in the application that we had a cat, but that the cat would be staying there. Not moving with me. She said she didn't have the energy to deal with this at the moment and that she couldn't trust me. Told me she'd get back to me in a few days. Which she did, and she told me that she "didn't feel comfortable renting us this unit". Luckily I found another 1 bedroom apartment for about $400 cheaper than what she was asking for. read more

We own different properties in different complexes. Unfortunately two of our properties have DMI as the management company. This is the worst management company we've ever dealt with. Reasons we are very disappointed with DMI are: They never answer emails. Every time you ring the person you need to talk to is, "just going into a meeting" no matter what time of day it is. If you leave a message for them to ring you back, forget it, it won't happen. When we have been lucky enough to receive information from them, it is quite often incorrect. DMI need to realize that we, as customers, help pay their wages and keep them afloat as a company. read more

This is the worst management company anyone can even imagine. I would not be able to list here the amount of problems that we have had with them, since they took over our previous company (Asset Management). Our complex only has 10 units and we only have 6 bills to pay. They don't do anything else, only financials. And even this simple task, they can't do it. They let the bills unpaid for 3 months, and then can't even get it straight. Our Association has been paying late fees to our vendors, constantly, due to their not doing their simple job of paying 6 recurring bills. How hard can this be? The financials sent to the Board do not include ANY documentation, for verification, and we have reasons to believe that our funds are not intact. Our insurance was not paid on time, and even after State Farm sent a notification that the policy would be cancelled, they still didn't pay it. So our insurance lapsed for a while. We do have a pool, and god forbid if there had been an accident with owners or guests, we were not even covered for any liability. Such irresponsibility and unprofessionalism, I have never seen. This is not a problem of only one employees or two. It appears that everyone that works there acts the same way: they never respond to any emails, when we call, we are transferred to desks where everyone is always away. We leave voice mails asking for a call back, NOBODY ever , ever calls you back. With the exception of Kai, who answers the phone very politely and tries to help, and obviously feels terribly embarrassed for how they treat us, but unfortunately, cant do much more than apologizing. But with the exception of Kai, everyone else who answers the phone is VERY rude, and if you call a second time, they wont even answer the phone again. Today we went there in person, and we still couldnt get anyone to give us any answers. We have terminated our services with them, and we want our funds and our documents, including financials, for a thorough audit, and they are not cooperating. No answers, they hide, and ignore all our requests. It is so unbelievable, there are no words to even describe this. We reached a point where, if they do not give us a strict answer tomorrow, regarding giving us a check with our funds and all our financial records, we have no choices left but filing a complaint with the State Attorney General for fraud, the only way to get our money and our documents from them. This company needs to lose their license and has to be barred from exercising. I just read all the other reviews, and the same happens with every single Association they are managing. At what point does their "mistakes" which all seemed to go in their favor become intentional theft? They took over the rental of my condos when their company purchased the business of my previous agent. In reviewing their monthly statements, I found almost $1,000 in errors, which seemed to benefit destination maui. I terminated their services and have repeatedly contacted them both by e-mail and direct visits. The e-mails get ignored and the direct visits are met with "he's on vacation off island". Taking someone else's money through errors and returning it when the mistakes are detected are honest mistakes. Taking it and keeping it even after the mistakes have been presented in writing numerous times is fraud and theft. And since the monthly statements wer mailed to me (which contained the "errors") that constitutes mail fraud. If you want to do business with them... caveat emptor. read more
