What a disturbing start to a holiday. we checked into Unit 412 at Kihei Surfside which was represented as a NEW, beautiful condo. 180 degree beautiful view of the ocean. Fabulous building adjacent to another complex with a high end new restaurant. All the amenities. Such lies and misrepresentations. We found nothing of the sort. And what view there was had filth caked on the windows. The unit was small. The bedroom had a slit of windows up near the ceiling facing the common hallway so as you are in the bedroom you hear everyone walking by. And the list goes on. We stayed 30 minutes and then booked our vacation at a beautiful hotel in Wailea getting the last room available. Complained to CB Vacation Rentals and was blown off multiple times. Jeremiah, Manager, was a joke! So we have now filed formal complaints with multiple jurisdictions and have demanded a full refund from VRBO and CB Rentals. Consumer misrepresentation is a crime and we will not sit back and be victimized by either party. If you see CB Vacation Rentals as a host - RUN away as fast as your feet will carry you. We are seasoned global travelers and have never experienced anything remotely like this. And we travel 1/2 the year to remote places where even in remote Patagonia, India, Mongolia, the Mekong...have never experienced such lies. read more

We booked through VRBO which led us to CB Island vacations. Prior to our arrival, we received a phone call regarding a repair being made in the condo at Palms of Wailea. I appreciated the heads up. The issue was resolved to completion. We were offered another location and was able to view the property. We decided to stay since our entire family was at The Palms. CB Island vacations followed up many times via email and phone calls. I was very happy with the notifications and their attention to make sure we were satisfied. I did see the other 1-star reviews, however, they are older dates. Maybe management has changed. I was very pleased. We are reserving vacation condo with CB Island vacations again next year. read more

We have been with CB Island Vacations for eight years, they are family. They are more and more wonderful over the years. The team we have in Jeramia, Ruby, Linda and Michelle are outstanding. When you are not on island, you need to know that you have a team who will look out for your home, keep it safe, ensure that it is impeccably clean, make guests feel very welcome, guide owners with suggestions in prices, repairs and needs CB are not the cheapest, nor are they the most expensive. CB is reliable and value. You can trust CB Island with your home. Thank you and Aloha Jeramia, Ruby, Linda and Michelle read more

I was charged $1,702 for one night when it should have been $182. The condo was in poor condition--unsanitary, with bugs, a broken AC, and a strong mildew smell. Despite repeated attempts to contact the company, I received no help or alternative accommodations. Parking was also a nightmare, first-come, first-served of maybe 12 spots? In Waikiki area, this is virtually saying there's almost no parking. After just one night, they told me to vacate by 10 a.m. with no other options, we left due to my asthma. I got a partial refund but am still waiting for the rest. CB Island Vacations has been unresponsive and unhelpful. I cannot recommend them at all. Photos attached are were just some of the bugs we saw within an hour of getting into the room! read more

The images look amazing online. We have been here for 3 hrs waiting for our key to get into the room. They said they have a contractor in there working and will need to clean up after him. Not sure why they chose to bring in a construction contractor the day a party of 8 arrive for a week. Seems they could have repaired that yesterday when villa was empty? We shall see if this is a legit VRBO resource.....or not. Stay tuned yelpers! Welp.....check in came and went and we had to DEMAND to see the general manager....within minutes magical the room was ready. Horrible service for over 17k for a 5 day stay. This is ridiculous. AVOID THIS PLACE TO BUY OR STAY AT ALL COSTS! read more

CB Island Vacations - Palms At Wailea #1302 - Vacation Rentals Near Me - Kihei, Hawaii

Coldwell Banker Island Vacations do not care about their guests, only profit. From the beginning of the Maui fires we have asked them to cancel and refund our Airbnb reservation. At first they said to wait for their policies to cover our dates (Sept. 6th). Then they gave the excuse that they were prioritizing incoming guests. Then they said they would NOT be updating their policy after all, on the eve of our trip. Instead, they asked us to cancel without refund so they could re-book, a chance to double their revenue. Hawaiian airlines, on the other hand, offered us a full refund without us even having to ask. The fires have destroyed Lahaina and caused the entire West side of Maui to completely shut down for visitors. We booked this trip to Maui with the intent to explore all of Maui, not to take shelter in a rental condo. Yet Coldwell Banker cannot grant this simple request because it will hurt their bottom line -- their quarterly profits. Don't expect good service or even a smidgen of empathy from this corporation. Don't expect the money you pay for a rental to go to the local Maui economy -- expect it to go to New Jersey, the headquarters of their parent company. They have even resorted to AI-generated reviews without substance to try and salvage their dwindling reputation. Do yourself a favor and don't book with Coldwell Banker. read more

tl;dr - dishonest company. agreed to 'fix' things but made them worse repeatedly. Probably the worse vacation rental I have ever been to. Here's the list of issues that I reported to them (this is half of what I found): - The lamp shade in the living room is broken - Shower curtain rod has an end cap that is broken. - There's only one pool key instead of the listed 2 in the document. - I am unable to locate coffee filters (which I had expected to be stocked) - I am unable to locate garbage bags to take the garbage out. - There were only two small shampoo and conditioner bottles (a couple of ounces each) for the entire stay which is insufficient. - Many of the knives in the unit are rusted. - There's a portable A/C unit on the main floor, however, it is unable to keep the entire floor cold and the temperature on it doesn't fall below 90s which makes it difficult to sleep in the unit. They 'tried' to fix the issues but ended up breaking the AC even more (see photos). To make matters worse they clearly agreed to 50% discount and didn't honor it!!! (tried to give back 50% of nightly rate while agreeing to give 50% of TOTAL rate). Absolute scam artists! read more

Worst vacation ever !! Seriously I am trying to save someone else from wasting their money. I rented Polo Beach Club 705. The unit is lovely, clean, has everything you could want...several pages down on website it mentioned possible construction. OMG... non stop jackhammering, drilling , pounding from 8 am to around 400 everyday. It is so loud here it's nauseating, feels like the walls are being torn down around you. When I spoke with CB island vacation company they could care less. I felt the unit should not be rented out while MAJOR construction is happening next door, they say there is nothing they can do. They did not even attempt to help us move to a quieter unit. I am so disappointed and I hate for anyone who has saved for a nice Hawaii vacation to be ripped off. read more

I use CB Island Vacations for my unit at Sugar Beach Resort (321). I recommend their services for owners. They are easy to communicate with, responsive, and a helpful part of my "team". The personnel have "Aloha Spirit". I've dealt with them fairly regularly and they are all well-spoken, kind, attentive people who treat me with the utmost respect! They've had many good ideas for making my rental the best at SBR, and it shows in my all 5-star reviews! read more

Worst rental and customer service experience we have had. We were shown photos and a description of a property that is not even close to what was given to us. They said the property was an upgraded unit but it's about as worn out as they come with broken fans, a terrible bed, broken faucets, and as far away from the beach as possible. All of this with advertisements and photos of being close to the beach and an upgraded unit. We have called and were told a manager would call us back and after three days of trying, no manager has called back and the person we talked to won't help. Awful. read more

Almost ruined our vacation Do not trust Coldwell Banker Island Vacations with your precious vacation time. This company takes no responsibility for the condition of the properties they manage, and then blames the owner for the dilapidated condition. Their pictures of the unit are basically fake and they just use photo filtering to make it appear beautiful. We checked into a dump at Wailea Ekahi 25B. I can't express how junky and unmaintained this unit was. It was dirty, moldy-stained, with ridiculous repairs completed by a handyman over many years (patches with caulking and screws, broken tiles, moldy tubs and showers, dirt on the popcorn ceilings, busted and nasty kitchen with 5 cans of raid in the cabinet. Our young kids were even grossed out. The unit has slowly been deteriorating since the 70s. On top of all that, the property next door was under renovation and a demo hammer was being used all day. CB Island let us out of our contract, but not after charging all the fees associated with the booking ($400). They were unable to provide reasonable additional options that mer our needs, despite their large portfolio. We ended up booking at Maui Eldorado in Kaanapali for the same price, and our new unit and property are 100x better. Not even comparable. This company is a nearly fraudulent as they were certainly informed of construction next door and did not provide us this information. read more

Not a company to trust. They first changed my reservation without notice or explanation. This was after we made local activity reservations. Then the new villa was under construction next door. Constant sawing, sanding and hamming. It's interesting that they have strict noise rules but only applies to guests. After I told them, they simply offered a measly 130.00 refund on a visit that cost me 3k. How nice-not! They did not offer any customer service nor help. But they sure wanted my money. DO NOT USE THEM!! read more

Do not use this company. Hundreds of dollars of superfluous fees added to your rental. Worst case of nickel-and-diming you'll ever encounter. I'd post zero stars if that were possible. read more

We rented a unit in Maui Vista in Kihei Maui through CB Island Vacations. They were great with communication and quickly responding to any questions or problems. Highly recommend renting through them for a hassle free vacation! read more

Avoid CB Island Vacations and any properties managed by them. They advertise and book on their own web site as well as on vrbo and airbnb. Service is poor, they are unaccommodating to reasonable requests and the unit we rented was not adequately stocked with linens/blankets. The rest of this review is specific to their rental unit at Makena Surf (B305). Makena Surf B305 actually has a fabulous oceanfront balcony view as described. But it has numerous downsides (most but not all relate to the management company). Downsides include: must walk up/down 3 flights of stairs going to or from the unit each time (no elevators). Building is dated and our entry area outside unit was under construction (ceiling ripped open). Unit itself is dated and very small, especially the 2 bedrooms -- note that there is not even enough room on bedroom floor to leave suitcase without stepping on it. Bedding was sparse ... only thin bed sheet plus very light bed cover (blankets lacking or missing). Kitchenette is similarly small (too small to call it a kitchen). If your kids like playing with ants, they will love this place ... tiny ants overwhelm every aspect of this unit. Keep sliding doors/screens to patio closed too as birds are quite aggressive if not entertaining with flying into the room looking for any food. We have been coming to Maui regularly for 20+ years and have family with a house in nearby Wailea ... this was our first experience staying at Makena Surf and renting through Coldwell Banker Island Vacations aka CB Island Vacations .. it will also be our last. Makena Surf grounds and location are nice enough for Maui, but building is dated and build/finish quality like staying at an older Days Inn Lodge hotel in terms of quality. Better condo rental experiences to be found elsewhere and better management companies more focused on guest experience --- they wouldn't even accommodate a reasonable request to delay checkout by 2 hours despite no incoming guests for another 3 days (actually, they would accommodate but wanted another $550 for the extra couple of hours). Avoid CB Island Vacations. read more

Don't trust a thing Rubi says.  We checked into Wailea Ekahi 5E to find the carpet in horrible condition and the cleaning completely sub par.  We decided to go out and enjoy the deck to find the air-conditioning unit on the deck putting off more heat than the sun and as loud as a small aircraft.  Later as the sun was setting the air-conditioning could not keep up and the unit was overheating.  As we laid down to sleep we found two (horrible) pillows in a room that sleeps 4!  The air-conditioning was working to catch up, and because it was outside the bedroom; it kept us up most of the night!  I called the emergency line at 8pm for more pillows and about the AC but they could not assist, we were to deal with it and they would reach out in the morning.  So anyone over two people in a room that sleeps 4 would have to sleep without pillows in the heat with the AC running like a small aircraft taking off - but they would not help with even the simple things that could have helped. The next day I reached out to Rubi because we could not stay in this unit for 3 more nights.  She agreed to refund the remainder of our stay (3 nights) and we moved on before 11am.  I received a refund of less than two nights and reached out to her.  She texted on the first morning saying that we stayed two nights, which I tried to explain to her that it was only one night and the time stamp on the text would prove that. Needless to say Rubi lied, and her excuse in a text for not refunding the first night was that the owner was going to have to pay to clean the carpets and fix the AC.  In what world is that our problem!  The carpet was trashed when we got there and the AC is clearly original.  Those are the owner's issues and should have been dealt with before we arrived. They were quick to offer us a refund, put up no fight; so these were obviously issues they were aware of.  They were also quick to not stand up to what they agreed to - the remainder of the nights - 3 nights, not less than two. CB Island vacations do not maintain their units and should not be allowed to manage property.  We will be fighting all charges with American Express, which I am sure with all the evidence will be no issue.  I will also be reaching out to the owner of the property to let them know how they manage units, I also feel it is my duty to look up other owners they manage for and let them know what we experienced and warn them so their properties are not also being mismanaged. DO NOT STAY WITH CB ISLAND VACATIONS!!! read more

We booked a very cute little retro unit on the Big Island, but it changed hands shortly after and CB took over. Dealing will realtors is a mixed bag and certainly not ours, so we were disappointed (albeit happy for the sellers, who are very nice), but our spot was good. It's our practice to work with personable owners, often on-site and truly invested in being part of a better world, which you don't get with mere mgmt., and CB proved true to form in that regard. They changed checkout to the rather uncommon time of 10 AM, there were small shards of broken glass on the lanai, and they didn't call after verifying our phone number before sending housekeeping, so let's just say we were caught off guard and leave it at that. The negative sentiments in Hawaii surrounding vacation rentals are predicated on entities like CB, which often leverage wealth to acquire more, and the end result is not acceptable to folks like us. read more

Possibly the worst company I've ever dealt with. I booked a room at Sugar beach resort, room 113, through VRBO. The owner sold it to someone else after I booked and it is managed by CB Island Vacation. I had to rebook through CB and they resent the booking info with the same pricing. I paid it immediately l, signed the contract and everything. Two weeks later, they send me an email asking for another $547 claiming they had made a mistake on the rebook! When I said I already paid and signed the contract, they immediately canceled my reservation! So now I'm left looking for another place. What a scam of a company. Do not book with them as they will raise the price on you and if you argue, they will cancel your reservation. I'm glad Covid hurt the tourism industry in Hawaii and I hope a new Covid comes and takes out these unethical companies soon. DO NOT BOOK SUGAR BEACH RESORT UNIT 113! It's a scam! read more

I have never had such a bad experience reserving through Airbnb before now. I'm sure the place is lovely....but we did not get that far. I requested a reservation for one of their units for $386.57 per night through Airbnb. CB Island Vacations eventually wrote back saying that it was available and they would love to accommodate us once we agreed to their terms and services. I wrote back agreeing. Then, nothing from them until the request reached 24 hours and was automatically canceled by Airbnb. Not a big deal.. I wrote them asking if I could still book it, despite the automatic cancelation. They agreed and asked me to re-request the reservation; however, in this time, the cost of the unit increased to $425 per night. I asked them to honor the previous cost, and they said no because they couldn't verify that cost. I talked to Airbnb who easily confirmed the original $386.57 cost, but needed CB Island Vacations to call Airbnv themselves if they needed confirmation. I asked CB Island Vacations to do this, and never heard back. My second choice of places to stay was also through that company, but at this point, I refuse to give them my business. Avoid CB Island Vacations and their unethical business dealings. read more
