    Home Managers LLC. is VERY BAD NEWS! The broker Rae Yoshida is a locally despised person for her…read morehighly abrasive and disputatious personality. My wife and I rented a home from H.M., LLC. in December of 2020 for a year with our lease ending on December 15th. We interacted with a representative from H.M. who is no longer with that company. The problems started when we moved a year later and tried to collect our refund, prorated rent and other money owed us for a shared (with another unit), electric account that is in my name. The rules required Yoshida to return our deposit and others monies owed within TWO WEEKS. Nearly four weeks and scores of phone calls later, we have yet to receive a dime of what we are owed. Apparently Yoshida DID attempt to mail our deposit check back - which was 'returned to sender' - but has made NO ATTEMPT (or even mentioned), the return of our owed prorated rent or the reimbursement of the monies owed by her clients to us for our electric bill. When pressed, she's made bizarre statements about "not having the money" to refund our prorated rent and stating that the "owners have our last rent check" and that the property owners are financially responsible, not her (a total and insultingly stupid lie, all monies went through her office). Frustrated, I contacted our county Renters Rights hotline and was told that if I wanted my money back, my only recourse was to file an action against Yoshida in small claims court! I have done so and am looking forward to getting an official judgement against her in court and finally getting our money back. I urge everyone to avoid HOME MANAGERS, LLC. like a plague. There are many other much better realtors and property managers available who deal with people honestly.

I tried to get a meeting with her to go over the real lease. She said she was a very busy lady and had no time to go over a lease with me. I told her I hadn't signed the lease. In fact, I never got the real lease. She told me i had to put down the $4,500 to get the lease which she insisted on. Then after i did she said $4,500 was the same as signing a lease. I had the most terrible conversation with this lady. She screamed and insulted me. I was in tears by the end of the conversation. I am now stuck with having to try to get out of this deal and retrieve some money and having to find a new home. What an awful experience. No one should be allowed to operate like this. I wish the homeowners who sign with her knew how terrible a person she is.

    Disrespectful and unprofessional on-site manager for Maui Gardens condo…read more My in-laws recently moved into a condo unit that my wife and I own. The condo complex is managed by Maui Land Broker with an on site manager who lives there, Wally Marcus. My mother-in-law is a retired teacher and my father-in-law is a war vet from Vietnam with two Purple Hearts, and a Bronze Medal of Valor. My mother-in-law is 77 and is allergic to insecticide so a week ago when they received a notice that their condo would be sprayed, we called Wally to let him know to skip our unit. It went well, and he was all good with it. Yesterday the insecticide crew arrived to do their job and as Wally walked past the condo he stared at their lanai where the sliding glass doors were wide open, and said loudly: "Don't bother spraying this unit. She's allergic to everything. You know... air, people, food. THAT kind of person" This was a totally unprovoked comment. Not only was it inappropriate, it was unprofessional and mean spirited. My mother-in-law heard it from inside the condo and promptly called us in tears. While this may seem petty, remember that these are our elders and she had done absolutely nothing to provoke such disrespectful comments. Imagine if they were your parents. The irony of it all. The very people my in-laws are paying over $670 a month in HOA dues to look after their interest is talking shit about them. Trust was totally broken after that disrespectful comment. We called Maui Land Broker and spoke with Joe Blackburn, Wally's manager. What we received from Joe was a placating conversation saying that Wally was probably having a bad day and that it was a joke. Yup, the Good ol' Old Boys Club. You scratch my back, I scratch yours. The women in the office, Sasha and Heather are both very kind, supportive and helpful. My wife spoke with Heather and my mother-in-law spoke with Sasha. They were both appalled by what Wally had said. This "joke" wasn't funny to anyone, least of all, my mother-in-law. Wally Marcus is a kupuna bully. Joe Blackburn also said that 95% of the condo owners were happy with Wally. 1. Where did he get the random 95% number and by using what KPIs? 2. If you happen to be the 5% who are unhappy with Wally, you're clearly shit out of luck. This is the level of "professionalism" you can expect from Maui Land Broker. As a business owner, I am well aware that your business and company is only as good as your employees, and your employees are a reflection of your business. Joe Blackburn has made the decision that my in-laws should contact them in the office directly if they need anything instead of contacting Wally, who is the on-site manager. Instead of hiring an effective and kind on-site manager, the strategy is to circumvent him altogether. This should give you an idea of Maui Land Broker's way of doing "business." Ignore the tsunami, just fix the leak in the tap. Wally Marcus is rude, disrespectful, and totally unfit for his job and Joe Blackburn makes excuses for his employee's bad behavior. Both ineffective. ---------------------- Apr 9 2020 -- A note from my realtor who sold us the condo. I am sorry to hear about this with Wally and Joe Blackburn....just remember that YOU are the HOA. The HOA hires them. They answer to you. Perhaps go to the next HOA board meeting and express your displeasure. You run them, they don't run you. Your dues pay for them and you as part of the HOA hire them. You are owners they are not. They are your employees.
