I have hired Delaine twice now. Once when I moved into my new house and a second time four years and two kids later. On the first visit she gave very practical solutions for some rooms with awkward layout in addition to small simple fixes with my existing furniture. She recommended a few home renovations as well and allowed me to use her discount at the design center when I purchased materials. She continued to offer support and suggestions via email during the renovation. In the end I sent photos, I really feel like she was going through it with me. For the second visit my focus was on clutter and storage. She sent links to practical solutions that don't break the bank and can evolve with the kids. She also is able to put me in touch with individuals who are storage and efficiency experts. I plan to hire them and with their help do a purge of unnecessary items. We purchased a 1963 era home with an outdated interior, wallpaper and all. We hired a color consultant who started out by fanning a hundred color samples while asking what colors we wanted to use. If we knew the colors we wanted to use we wouldn't have needed a color consultant. Delaine came to the house, did a walk through, suggested we move out to the deck where she sat us down and explained the house had a Frank Lloyd Wright vibe and that we needed to bring the inside out and the outside in - EXACTLY what we were thinking, we just didn't know how to articulate it. She then proceeded room to room with color suggestions. A couple of the ideas took us out of our comfort zone, but we went with it. We are beyond satisfied with our room colors. Our friends have all commented on the wonderful color selections. Delaine guided us through the planning of a full kitchen remodel, fantastic results. My recent appointment with Delaine was the first time I had worked with an interior designer. I did not know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised with her suggestions. We began with a walk-through of my house, and then Delaine provided room-by-room ideas for how to easily improve the decor. She also brought along paint decks so she could point to specific paint color suggestions, which was helpful. I took down a lot of notes during our session, and came away with several relatively inexpensive recommendations that I can easily take care of myself. Delaine was invaluable when I began to renovate my 1985 townhouse in 2010. She had terrific ideas about how to update the house, completely re-do the kitchen & master bath, and otherwise refresh the rest of the space. Delaine is a great interior designer, she has helped my wife and I design and renovate two kitchens and a basement.
