Sister Kelly rushed into this store saying how it's one of her favorites on the main drag. As were entered behind her, we could see why. Quirky and eclectic home goods and gifts everywhere. Any decorating style you can think up, and gift or souvenir. This is one of those stores were there is so much to see, you will want to look up and down- everywhere. Easy to miss a treasure! Pillows, towels, candles, nick nacks, pictures, signs, food items too! Be sure to make your way to the back of the store too! If I had anyone I knew expecting a baby- I would have been in shopping heaven and I saw things that would be beautiful in a baby's room. Kelly grabbed a few items for home and checkout was simple and quick.

“I'd actually say Red Barn Mercantile seems more like a Pottery Barn meets Anthropologie, minus the clothes.”

Absolutely a beautiful shoppe, and helpful, knowledge staff. I've made purchases when in Alexandria…read moreand continue to do so from Boston. Exceptional delivery service from VA to MA. A great selection and beautiful displayed ideas for design are made easier. I wish we had this store in MA.

I am actually writing about the experience I had today, Jan 14th, with the sales lady. My husband…read moreand I entered the store and the sales person did not even bother to look up much less greet us. As we were wandering around the store looking for leather recliners we noticed the staff person pass by us, twice, without any recognition at all. As we were leaving we had to pass her and I asked a question as to how long the store had been there as we could not remember it from the past. I truly felt like I was bothering her...She responded like the question annoyed her? or? Anyway, I'm not sure but when we left the store my husband and I both commented on how rude we felt she was! There was only the 1 employee (her) that we noticed so maybe she was having a bad day but we really do not feel the need to return to Random Harvest. There are plenty of places we can seek out a leather recliner from but it was a shame as the experience left us with a bad "taste" in our mouths for the business.

Random Harvest - I don't think my cell phone does the color well. Couch is on legs and makes it look less bulky for our DC condo.

I find this store to be quite lovely and well-curated with things from the south of France,…read morespecializing in things from Provence. I enjoyed their signature hens and locust-themed ceramics, once I get a larger home I want to put one of the wall mounts by the front entrance and fill it with their dried lavender. When I asked questions about the plating of the jewelry, the staff was well-informed, courteous, and kind. Everything was reasonably priced, and I'm saying that because I cross-referenced various brands online that I saw only to find, in general, the other way to get them was to buy them wholesale. From the south of France. Shipping not included. So it's a deal to me! I am quite fond of this store and have read some interviews, I think the owners seem lovely, maintain a high bar for quality, and have erudite and practiced taste. The store is pleasing to the eye with suggested pairings and decor. I love the candles, I want all of them, they smell exquistie and their containers would make great trinket holders or even herb pots. There's enough children's items to make a great pit stop before a birthday party, You get what you pay for, and in this case, it's things of an enduring quality to be enjoyed by all of the local and visiting doyennes with a little taste, une petite madam avec sangfroid, who know how to do a thing or two with a scarf. Bon chic, bon genre--c'est magnifique!

It's a "shop" that does what it does: fix lamps. They appear to sell a few items. I stopped in, which is required since you can't call them or communicate in any way except in person, to get a lamp controller fixed. I needed a simple soldering. They got it done quickly and I was on my way. It worked immediately upon me checking when I got home. It was easy to park on the street and get this done. I love small stores like this that take care of things the old fashioned way. I realize that some reviewers want all sorts of communication options, but for a store trying to do business, running a non-profit help hotline is not really a viable approach. I wish you lazy people would stop trashing businesses because you don't get free help. And you can actually still get free help if you stop in, it's just that you are cheap AND lazy.

Yikes! I just went in and asked for a simple lamp repair, and when I asked for an ETA (today?…read moreanother day?), the clerk threw up his hands and walked away and said he had "too much work to do." Do they not want business? I couldn't have been nicer, wasn't being demanding, and this response was sort of shocking. I've had repairs done here before. Needless to say, I won't return.
