For each room, she provided multiple choices for furniture, patterns, rugs, etc.--at various price points and styles--and made sure that we could mix and match the different pieces while maintaining the overall vision for the room. In addition to her aesthetic talents, Ali was a huge help with logistics--placing orders, securing samples, and staying on top of suppliers and vendors. With the ongoing supply delays due to the pandemic, Ali kept us up to date as shipping and delivery dates changed. She holds religiously to budget and does a great job keeping the project running. We recently did a large project and there was an instance where a mistake was made in color selection by either decorating den or the vendor. They could not determine where the problem occurred, but she arranged it such that it had no impact on us, the customer. No additional cost, and no additional time. She has a great relationship with her vendors, and all of the labor she uses has been exceptional.

Because of her talent, she was my choice for remodeling a bathroom. This is a list of what went wrong during the construction: A. Toilet and tub are wrong color and the bathtub is the shorter than the previous bathtub. I requested a bright white toilet and tub multiple times. Also, the bathtub it is not level after installation. B. A mosaic made of ¼ inch glass tiles was not competently installed and the mosaic and the side walls' ¼ inch glass tiles do not reach the ceiling as planned. The bathtub before the remodel was higher and the measurements for the mosaic and side walls tile were taken from it. The mosaic and tile goes to varying heights on the walls. Where the side wall tiles and the mosaic meet at the corners of the walls there is more space than there should be. The workers tried to fill in the spaces where the mosaic was too short or not wide enough but the pattern/colors of the tile do not match the pattern of the mosaic. The white thin set shows significantly between some of the seams where the six pieces of the mosaic were joined. The thin set will need to be picked out before being grouted because grout will not cover the thin set since the tiles are so small and there is not enough space between the face and the back of the 1/4 inch tiles. The repair of the mosaic is very difficult. It needs to be demolished, remade and reinstalled properly. C. The bathroom vanity came with the drawers on the right side and the door of the cabinet on the left side instead of the other way around. The plumbing had to be moved to fit the configuration of the new cabinet as the previous cabinet was the opposite configuration. D. The marble top of the vanity came with one hole for the faucet instead of three holes for the Moen Banbury three holed faucet that was purchased. E. The Kohler Banbury bathtub fixture set came with plumbing valve. The valve is in the box and the wallboard and tile is already up at the front of the bathtub where the fixtures are supposed to be. Either the tile and wallboard need to be opened up to install the valve or the outside wall in the hallway will need to be opened up to reach the area. Since I know next to nothing about construction I hired a remodeling company to evaluate the work and write a report. Also, a neighbor who is a carpenter and former home inspector looked at the project along with a handyman I sometimes use. I contacted the mosaic company, Mosaico in Illinois, and I found a mosaic expert through a tile shop who came to evaluate the mosaic. They each contributed to the list. The mosaic company, the remodeling company and the mosaic installer agreed the mosaic needs to be demolished and redone by an experienced installer because it is very difficult to repair the mosaic. The project is not complete. I am hiring someone else. I paid 17,340 dollars of the 28,900 dollars listed in the contract.

My husband and I bought several pieces from them over the course of the last six months - we were very pleased with the proposed layout and furniture options for our space. However, 50% of our order (that we paid in full) took over 5.5 months to ship - and one piece never shipped. In December we placed a custom piece from a well known manufacturer, paid in full and expected to wait the standard 8-12 weeks for production and delivery. I patiently waited over 5 months before I started to press for answers. I could not get a satisfactory answer from Tchoupitoulas - nor could I get Alex to respond to my multiple phone calls and emails over a 4 week period asking for an update on piece. I finally called the manufacturer directly. I was shocked to hear from the manufacturer that our order was not placed until March and was no where near completion - our anticipated 8-12 week timeframe was stretching into 6 months. Despite repeated phone calls and emails to Alex to clear up any miscommunication, reset expectations or explain what happened - she chose to email me and tell me she was refunding our money. There are many designers in Old Town that do not require full payment, are equally as talented and can offer a competitive discount - I would urge you to shop on and save yourself the time and money - don't be fooled by the showroom!
