Our order was ready on time and packaged well. Even though we were just picking up, the staff were attentive and helpful, which I really appreciated. The space itself is also very nice. Clean, well kept, and has a welcoming atmosphere. We started with the veggie samosas and mixed pakoras, and both were amazing. Perfectly cooked with great flavor and really good sauces. For mains, we had the Chicken Makhani (butter chicken) and the Chicken Malabar, and both were so good. Super rich, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The portions were also very generous. The garlic naan was a standout. Fresh, soft, and perfect for dipping into the sauces. Overall, everything we ordered was delicious and really hit the spot. Great flavors, great portions, and a really easy takeout experience. Definitely a place I would return to for dine in or takeout.

Indeed, there's a lively and popular chain called Kumar Mess in Madurai; maybe related. I've tried at least two of their locations around Madurai. I find the food at the Apple Valley location mostly good, especially if served right out of the kitchen. I'm generally un-thrilled with buffets anywhere and haven't tried the Kumar's version. I could be wrong, but running a good buffet takes more effort and planning than the apparently very small staff at Kumar's can probably manage, so I order from the menu. I find the Chettinad chicken curry very good; hence my rating. My companions always like the various dosa and uthappam dishes and the samosa and pakora appetizers. I like vada (served as an appetizer) if it's fresh and not dried out; that varies at every Indian restaurant I've tried. Service is friendly but sometimes agonizingly slow, as I usually see just one server on duty, even in busy-ish evenings.

I stood waiting at the front for about 30 seconds while employees were nearby, but nobody acknowledged me. Eventually someone yelled "hello" from literally across the restaurant. After I responded and said I was there for a pickup order, there was very little communication. They looked at me confused. The employee then walked away and eventually returned with my order. The interaction felt confusing and unwelcoming. I was also disappointed by the portion sizes, especially considering current menu prices. On top of that, there is an additional service fee for online orders, which makes the value feel even worse. Overall, this visit left us feeling like the restaurant isn't prioritizing its takeout customers the way it used to. Between the confusing pickup process, concerns about how long the food sat before pickup, smaller portions, and added fees, were hesitant to order takeout here again. Looks very unique a village style of India few issues or a few things that we found in the restaurant was that the service was slow and the food was not tasty. Everything was spicy and some of the stuff that don't have enough salt. We didn't really enjoy the food as much we ended up wasting everything. Hope they improve their service and the taste of the food.

We noticed they have a really fun cafe setup called The Corner Café with its own window in the corner. It was closed when we were there, but it turns out they actually operate as a full-service artisan coffee shop during the morning and afternoon, serving Spyhouse coffee and pastries before shifting entirely to fine dining at night! For dinner, my husband ordered the sticky cauliflower as an appetizer and declared it "the best cauliflower 'chicken' bites he's ever had"--he also absolutely loved the white sauce it came with. He also got the mango yuzu drink which was super refreshing. For entrees, we ordered the coconut curry, which had a great flavor and wasn't overly sweet (which can sometimes happen when a kitchen overdoes the coconut milk). I ordered the Delhi butter chicken. The waiter mentioned that their spice scale is a "Minnesota spice" scale, so I felt safe upgrading to medium since I usually order mild. Flavor-wise, it had a bit too much tomato flavor for my personal preference, but it was still well prepared and the pieces of chicken had a lovely, smoky flavor.
