My children and I all receive services from DVEC. From their front office staff, to their optical technicians, and the doctors themselves; they all do a great job ensuring your visit with them is top notch. My FSA often gives me hassle about paying for services and their staff always ensures I have exactly what I need to alleviate any of the stress that my FSA gives me. Fantastic experience - hadn't had my eyes checked for over a decade or more - everyone was very professional and kind.

I called the office and both the person whom answered the phone and the office manager were very rude.

There's a reason they have poor reviews. I would recommend going anywhere else in town. It is most certainly a practice that attempts to have you return for multiple visits, thus to upcharge you, despite the necessity of it. Rachel, the office manager, knows this. I walked into my very first appointment and was told that they could perform my dilation, but that "this wouldn't be an eye exam" which I found odd for a first visit because, well, it's an optometry office. Also, I was told that my insurance would be billed "medically"(meaning more likelihood of denial and/or higher cost vs billing it preventatively as an eye exam, which is how every other optometrist I've previously been to billed). I wouldn't recommend this company. People are nice. But lack communication. I was told glasses would be done within 2 weeks. Five weeks later still weren't here. After going there found out the lab kept breaking the original pair. Do to options picked. But not stated when speaking with the lab. Could have been done in a more timely manner, if there was more communication. And wont give me my deposit back. read more

Great overall service. Staff was nice, and answered all of my questions. I was pleasantly surprised by the my cost for my glasses.

If I can give zero stars I definitely would . This people don't know what they are doing ! They kept messing up with my prescription and for the third time they kept telling I had to get 2 lenses one for day and night in which I find it ridiculous how the hell I'm gonna be wearing one for each time of day! Not only that the people that work there rude AF like why the hell you get a job in costumer service and can't even do that right ! They hang up on me twice and every time I told them I don't feel right with this prescription especially with the right side , they were rude about it and told " oh but are you going to use one eye " im so fed up with this place thank God I decided to get second opinion to a more professional place and a Doctor that actually cares for his patients , He was so kind enough to explain what was going with on and that I definitely don't need 2 LENSES because 1 was enough and got a prescription that is finally actually right ! Terrible service. Terrible experience. When I arrived, there were 6 employees and only 2 other patients, but the doctor was late calling me. The admins were nice enough, but I think the ladies selling the glasses work on commission. She pushed me twice about looking at frames and I finally agreed to pick one out. When she presented the bid, she'd upsold the glasses over $150 for some scratch resistant coating (this upsell was more than the out of pocket cost of my glasses). When I said no, she told me that if I don't buy the coating, they won't replace the lenses if they get scratched. She emphasized that point. Now, I left with the impression that I'd just better not go back because they won't replace them at all, but she could have meant that they won't replace them for free. But she didn't say "for free", just that they won't replace them. Hmmmmm. Then the Doctor. Cold, disapproving, impatient and resistant to answering questions. But there were dismissive comments about one of my concerns and scare tactics surrounding possible cataracts. And, when I didn't give her the answers she wanted, my exam ended abruptly and I was whisked out to the lobby to finalize the glasses purchase. Very unpleasant experience. The lab appears to be pretty good. The glasses came earlier than I was expecting and I can see, which I can't say about some of the other glasses I've gotten in my lifetime. Picking up the glasses was an almost comical event. After a 10 or 15 minute wait, the optician called me up and gave me the glasses. I put them on, she said "how do they fit", I shrugged, made a "meh" sound and she said "Ok, I'll clean them up". She grabbed them and made a beeline to the back room. When she got back, she snapped them into their case and asked me if I wanted a sack. A little stunned that anyone would have taken my reaction to the glasses fit as even slightly approving, I just took them and left, figuring that if I have problems, my next eye doctor would be the one I go to for an adjustment, because I'm certainly not going back to them for any reason. read more

This optometry office is an up-selling scam similar to many private optometry offices in my opinion. They quoted me $150-$200 for an eye exam, then when I went to pay it was over $300. I also asked if I would be able to leave with a prescription for contact lenses that I could then use to go ahead and order my own contact lenses online, and was told that would be no problem. In fact I did not leave with a prescription, and was told that since I was a new patient they would have to order trial lenses in, which would take two weeks and I would then have to wait another week to two weeks for the prescription. When I complained I was informed by the snotty optician that BY LAW they couldn't just hand me a script. I have worn contact lenses for 40 years, and have used Acuvue daily disposable lenses for about 10 years. My prescription has also not significantly changed in 5-6 years. I'm so sick and tired of the run around typical with these private optometry offices! They all do what, in my opinion, is an illegal bait and switch to get as much money as possible. Just go to Costco, pay $100-$150 bucks, and walk out with your prescription. read more

I was so excited to visit DVEC at their new location...it is beautiful! They have a nice selection of frames if you are willing to pay outrageous prices...being a former optician I do now the average mark up on a frame is upwards of 200% so that really turned me off. The opticians also have NO idea what they are doing! My husband and I were both fitted for the outrageously expensive Hoya lenses...upwards of $500 for lenses only! OUCH! They did not adjust the frame before measuring the bifocal...optical 101. So when we picked up our $600 glasses (after insurance) they were measured wrong...the optician gave them to us and said can you see? No adjustments whatsoever. My husband couldn't see of course so I adjusted them when I got home...much better. The next year...the optician told me that she was 2 weeks new to optical sat me down to order $500 lenses only in my last years frame, no other experienced optician was there to guide her through it. No thanks! I asked for my prescription (which I told them I would want before I walked into the exam) they wanted to argue with me and bash other optical shops. I merely wanted to shop the prices around...without confrontation. They called this year wanting to schedule my family for our yearly exams. I told them that my family would be changing doctors and to please not call again. So went to buy glasses this year and was told I wasn't eligible...because I just got glasses. WHAT? I asked my insurance company from who I supposedly got my glasses from? Yep DVEC...they had pulled my benefits which put a hold on my insurance! I was confused since I told them we wouldn't be back...that was 2 months ago. So the insurance company called and asked them to release the hold. I will say that Dr. Fehey is a good doctor...diagnosing my son's dropping eyelids and sent us to a surgeon in Spokane. But the way the optical portion of her business was honestly the worst experience I have ever had. Side note...went to Pasco Vision Clinic to order glasses and they received a fax back from DVEC after requesting my prescription saying that they gave me my prescription when I was in for my exam and that I should have a copy...two faxes later they FINALLY sent the prescription over. The optician at PVC and I were perplexed at the exchange of faxes from DVEC. I understand that they need to pay for that new beautiful office...but come on!!! Don't sound so desperate and hostile to keep our business. They just lost 5 patients/customers...which is too bad because I did think Dr. Fehey was a good doctor. Costco got our business and will continue to get it despite the bashing that DVEC gave them...at least Costco's opticians have to be licensed in Washington...not a person off the street for 2 weeks. What a joke! ...and this is what you get when you bash other products and abilities! So incredibly unprofessional and down right rude. Good bye and I hope to not deal with them again. I recently had an issue with my insurance provider and needed to call in to DVEC to check on something. They never got back to me or sent the receipt as they said they would. When I had to call in again to check on the issue, the young lady who answered the phone was very rude. Received a call stating replacement lenses were in. When I returned the call to ask if an appointment, the person on the phone was very distracted and short with me. When I go in to get lenses replaced, the only other patients were being seen by the doctor or with one of the other assistants in the office. I told receptionist that I also need the nose pads and she said that she would let them know. After waiting for 40 minutes, I was brought my glasses with the new lenses but not with new nose pads. I mentioned it to the girl and her response was "You never said anything to me about it." If the office was full of patients, I could understand the wait time but that was not the case. I am a new patient to Desert Valley. They were very accommodating my busy schedule to get me in. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Anna helped me with my contacts as well as helping me find a great new pair of glasses. The Dr. was very thorough with the exam and contact fitting. I would like to tell you about my experience with Desert Valley Eye Clinic . To start with I ordered 3 PAIR of glasses. Two of them came with little problem. My sun glasses I was told no problem you can order the same ones I have currently. 3 or 4 weeks later. I received a call saying my glasses are ready to pick up. The glasses we received definitely are not the ones we ordered. Next I am told sorry we have nothing like the ones you want. I looked on the Oakley site myself and ask my wife if your office could bring in 5 pair so I can try them on. This took another 2 or 3 weeks I think I find a pair that will work and ordered them. Again 3 or 4 weeks later I again am told my glasses are in. after wearing them for a day I go in and have the glasses adjusted because they are laying on my face. I wear the glasses on Saturday and there do not fit still laying on my face. At this point I am totally done with these glasses. I have my wife take them to your office to return them and order lenses for my old pair of glasses. She is told the glasses are special order and cannot be returned. My wife was informed you made this very clear. WRONG I am so amazed how after you collect your money. The customer service go right in the toilet. I have spent a great deal of money with you and I can tell you I will never come back to your office. If anyone in my office asks for a recommendation on an eye clinic your office will come up right away (not in a good way). I hope you don't mind me standing out front of your office to talk to your customers from time to time about the customer service I have received from you. where do I start? I went 5 months ago to basically get glasses with the gradient lenses. I did not necessarily need a new prescription. I get into the testing chair and the optometrist says, "did you know your previous glasses only had the prism in one eye?" I say, "NO!" she explains that usually they put 1/2 of a prism in each eye. Figuring they had been trained maybe better than (Wal-Mart) where I got the last glasses, I say "hm, ok." They ordered my glasses, as mentioned in one of the other reviews, NO, how do they fit, how do they feel, only can you read this? Done and out with my new darkening glasses. A month or so later I have a migraine like I have not had for 25 years. I am prone to Migraines so I start getting treatment for them again. I start loosing balance.. Go to audiology... NOPE not something we can find. I go to my chiropractor, nope nothing he could fix. I was prescribed to go to a massage. NO it made it worse. My Dr was about to send me to a neurologist or orthopedic surgeon thinking it was my back? I had head aches as soon as I woke up in the morning (put on my glasses) I had muscle spasms and severe pain around my shoulder. I went to the ER with the migraines, and a muscle knot as big as your fist, horrible pain from the bottom of my shoulder blade up through my head around my right eye. I started falling asleep in the car every time my hubby drove. One of the keys that a WALMART eye Dr realized I needed a prism 4 years before. So I get a bright idea... WHAT IF IT IS MY GLASSES?? Put on the Walmart glasses... I wore them 2 hours and WOW, I FELT MUCH BETTER! No pain like before. I said, lets try it through the weekend being it was I think Thursday anyway. Sunday after noon I put on the DVEC glasses, I got a head ache within minutes. I was right, it was the glasses. I went in to DVEC, I told the desk lady I needed my glasses fixed. I was taken to a table I think is for measuring and stuff. I sat... 10 minutes... 20 minutes, I got the thought things are not going right. I gathered a woman that walked in and out of an office was the manager. She walked out of the door, I went urgently to the desk lady and asked to talk to the manager, "oh, she just left." I quickly went out after her. I loudly say "EXCUSE ME, are you the manager of this store?" she answered, "yes I am." I expressed that I had already been waiting 25 minutes, I came to get my glasses fixed that they ordered. I want it done to my satisfaction NOW and it better not cost me a cent or your next conversation will be with my lawyer. she said, "you don't have to threaten, we are working to get the matter fixed and have been on the phone with your insurance and the lab that made your glasses." I answer well, it is not a threat, its a promise. It still another 10 minutes I got invited to go in and get my eyes checked again to make sure there was no difference in me. As soon as the Dr walked in I looked at her and asked, "are you the same Dr. that did my last test?" She says, "yes I am." Then the optometrist looks at me and says, "you know, if you have a problem with your glasses you should come in sooner than 5 months and I could fix it!" LIKE I WOULD RATHER GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM 3 TIMES AND MONTHS OF PAIN IF I KNEW IT WAS MY GLASSES!!!!! She says, "well it sounds like you have lost confidence in me." YA THINK! She says, "so where do you want to go from here?" I answer, "well it seems to prove it is not me I have to get another test, so get it done!" Ok so I was snide I admit... but she said ok, put the NEW glasses on that have put me through all these problems I put them on and in moments I got a head ache. "I will not wear those glasses!" She says "SO, what do you want to do? Do you want a refund? a...." I jumped on the refund... "I want a refund!" So I go sit with my husband.... Out comes the manager, "please come into my office, and your husband can come too." We sit down, she says "you know, if you know your glasses are wrong you should come in before 5 months." Like this is the programed response in that store. I said, "IF I KNEW IT WAS MY GLASSES IT WAS, YOU ARE MAKING ME FEEL LIKE YOU ARE BLAMING ME THAT I DID NOT REALIZE IT WAS MY GLASSES FOR 5 MONTHS!" OK I was a bit upset!!!! she says, "no I am not blaming you but if you get new glasses then you should assume it is them and come in and get them checked. I HAVE GOTTEN SEVERAL PAIRS OF GLASSES AT DISCOUNT (Walmart, and America's best) and NEVER had to go back because my glasses were wrong! To say that to a customer, makes me feel maybe YOU KNOW YOU HAVE A HIGH RATE OF GETTING THINGS WRONG so if you have come to us to get glasses you will have to come back BEFORE 5 MONTHS IT TOOK ME to be sure WE got it right. Anyway, I got a refund and assured the manager I WILL NEVER WALK INTO THAT STORE AGAIN, and I will strongly suggest NO ONE DOES! Good luck if you choose to walk in that place. read more

I came in with my child for their annual appt on April 10th and as I was sitting in the exam room I overheard the employees talking very negatively about another co- worker it was extremely unprofessional and mean the things these girls were saying. The tech who helped me, the Dr. and the tall blonde who helps with glasses at the end were very pleasant! However I am not sure if I will not be going back as it felt more like a gossiping salon then a professional practice. Pulled my nephew out of school and showed at our scheduled time, only to be told it wasn't their problem and they could do nothing to accommodate. Great!!!!! The front desk staff are super helpful. They help to get you in quick when my appointment was scheduled out a week they called about cancellations they had. Dr. was very nice and answered my questions. Their glasses are very nice. Good selection. Very clean and beautiful!!! They explained my insurance benefits very well and didn't try and get me to spend a bunch of money on things that weren't covered. When I explained my budget they helped me stay within it. They are not pushy at all. I bought 2 pairs of glasses and love both of them. This will remain my eye care center. read more
