We love trying different breweries when we're traveling with friends and decided to buy a Groupon for this place since it offered 2 beer flights and 4 glass of beer for 4 ppl. Great deal too. The place is nice and decent in size. Parking was ok. It has some seating outside and some inside, along with counter top seating at the bar area and two areas with couches to relax in with friends to play games & mingle. They have a variety of games to choose from so it's also kid friendly if you bring your kids with you. They also have water and water cups to the side if you need some. The bartender who was there tonight was friendly & allowed us to take our time choosing the beer we wanted to try on our flights. Overall, some of the flavors were interesting and some weren't to our liking. Honestly, it really comes down to preference of how the flavors came through when you first sip it if you ask me. It was a hit or miss for me and my friends. Out of the 5, I did enjoy the Wy Abbo one the most since it's a guava pale ale. It had good flavors. One thing for sure though, I kind of wish all the beers on the flight were more cold. I don't know how to explain it but the temperature of it wasn't as crisp as I thought it should've been and it might've made a difference for my palate if beers came out colder. I also wish they included seltzers in their flight option. That would've allowed me to enjoy the flight more since beer can be heavy & fulfilling when you have multiple. We really wanted to like the beer options at this place but it wasn't for us. Glad we were able to test it out and for me, I only came because my husband and friends like beer. read more

They have couches inside as well as a nice patio with chairs and some umbrellas for shade. One of my friends suggested we meet up for a sweet treat at the bakery across the way, then come for a drink at Desert Monks Brewing. Parking can be a little tricky, but we were able to find a spot on a Saturday summer afternoon. I can imagine it could be difficult in the busy winter season. Since it's summer, it was also full of amble amounts of seating. The staff were incredibly friendly and took our order quickly. I loved that they had a soda option and a small pour of a beer, since I was trying to avoid drinking much. My friend loved her flight, and this is an all around return if in the area! read more

Absolutely love this place! Bartenders are always friendly, knowledgeable and willing to serve. They will come to you once you sit down, which seems like it should be norm, but lately I've been going to places that require you to order at the bar. Lots of board and card games for the whole family to play. Live music on certain nights. They do not serve food, but get a food truck every once in a while and are allowed to bring your own food in. Soooo....the atmosphere and staff are great. 5 stars there! I just didn't like any of the beers. We tried 2 flights of 5, so tasted a total of 10 beers, and I honestly didn't want a full glass of any of them. Very fun place tho. Tons of games. They also do DnD nights and Trivia nights. They also have gender neutral bathrooms, which, c'mon y'all...this needs to be the norm! And a community hand washing station which I love (we can all see you). Staff was fantastic! She was an owner and patiently walked us through our 6 taster flight. We always appreciate someone who knows craft beer. The Dareo on nitro and regular CO2 were our favorites. Dareo was full bodied and we both loved the Oreo overtones. My wife had the fruit wheat and fruit collab which were solid for the style. I really enjoyed my double IPA. We were greeted, well not really, sat at the bar for several minutes before the bartender emerged from the back room and approached us. The bartender was wearing a shirt that said "Making Spirits Bright", well that was a lie, she had zero expression or conversation skills. We ordered 2 IPAs and the pretzel. The beer was so so and the pretzel was out of box, but we didn't have high expectations at $8. We frequent a lot breweries in the valley and won't be going back to this one again. It was surprisingly light on patrons for a Saturday evening - more surprising than the relatively early closing time of 9pm - although, would make sense if it's usually this slow. The beer selection wasn't as wide as I've been accustomed to with local breweries of similar size. Okay I do not know how I have not posted a review for Desert Monks yet! This is hands down our favorite brewery in the Gilbert area. The always have good delicious beer options and the ambiance is just the best. They have tons board games to play, video games, foosball, and so much more. The staff are always super friendly and we just have a great experience here every single time. We are here several times a month. Some days they have food trucks and any other time you can bring in your own food. We often start at Taste Buds across the street for the kids and take it into Monks where mom and dad get our treat ;) It is great! Then when they are done they have a blast with the board games, video games and even toys for our two year old. They have something for everyone! There's tons of seating, both indoors and outdoors. Stopped here after leaving another brewery near by because it was soooo busy. This place had plenty of room. We sat at the bar as usual. The bartender was very attentive and personable. Great brewery. They have a good selection of beers and they introduce new ones often. It's a super chill spot, it can get pretty packed when they have Trivia night which is every Thursday. Sometimes they have food trucks and you can bring your own food which is nice since there are quite a few options nearby. I personally just have beers when I come here. They have inside and outside seating and quite a few board games and foosball. Service has always been good. I like that they keep their website up to date with events. One of the newer brewery taprooms, microbrewery-in the Gilbert area. Great selection of beer. Approximately, 20 Taps of house brewed beer; including a very well rounded hazy pale ale -New Belgium Citradelic and a Bash Bro DIPA with a deep malty flavor and light bitterness. This one seems to be there highest alcohol by volume at 8.2. %. Staff seems very knowledgeable & accurate with recommendations. I had the Alewife's Pumpkin Pie and in my opinion, probably the best seasonal beer I've had thus far. My husband had their Sour Saison which was a great balance of acidic, sour and tart. TVs above the bar, noise level & conversation- pleasant. Very chill environment. FYI-They only serve packaged snacks, but there is a food truck that's often right outside their doors that is highly recommended. It wasn't there when we came in, in the evening but I'm sure you could catch it during the day around lunch time! The servers also encourage you to try the local spots surrounding them, order a pizza have it delivered and or bring in your own food. Don't be shy! They have clean restroom facilities, nicely presented hand washing station which near- there's fun board games to grab to entertain you and your guest(s) while enjoying drinks! I do not give out a lot of 5 stars but I feel it's important to do so when deserved. My boyfriend and I tried this place out last Saturday night as its on the Pub Pass. Every person working greeted us. Every one. Staff was pleasant, friendly and knowledgeable. The place was clean and comfortable with a fair amount of seating with some outdoor as well. There were spacious and clean non gender specific bathrooms. DM has a wide ranging beer menu. I appreciate that it has a great selection that isn't 50 IPAs. They have unlimited taste tests too. We ordered about 5 different pints and 3 tasters. Not a single one was a disappointment We were both favorites of the WY Abbo, a bright, citrus pale (we ordered 2). I also had the red wedding (lager) which was tasty. My boyfriend got a kolsch and I forget what else. Everything we tried we both liked. I noticed some patrons had food. We had already eaten and I'm unsure if the food is a DM offering as there was a BBQ tent outside. This place is a gem and we will definitely be returning. read more

My husband and I came to this spot on a Tuesday evening and felt very comfortable and instantly at home! This location was very chill and welcoming. It's clean, new and has a large bar. Some of the tables have chalkboards for the surface, good addition for fun and games. It felt very much like we were at a brewery on top of the mountains hanging with modern monks. My husband and I were welcomed right away and sat at the bar. I loved how there were hooks for purses and plugs for charging electronic devices. Not what I generally look for in any bars but what a nice touch. The bartenders were so incredibly friendly and told us about the establishment and different beers. Before ordering anything they offered to have us try anything first. We ordered two separate flights and really enjoyed every single one! There were beers that were fruity and refreshing and some dark and strong! I don't generally like IPAs but I really liked the different ones here! They even offered non-alcoholic options too for other guests. FYI - This is a beverage only spot. Although there is no food, they encourage bringing your own and even order via Postmates or Uber eats. They also like to schedule food-trucks on the weekends, another plus! As I discovered this evening and even when writing this review, this place is amazing on the surface but also had many pluses and pays close attention to detail.
