Before we came, I called and spoke with a lady on the phone. She was very nice and helpful. She told us to come by and ask for Faith, so we were hopeful. Unfortunately, that feeling changed the moment we walked in. The office was very gloomy and outdated. There was a woman sitting on the couch watching TV and a man in the back reading a newspaper. No one greeted us or even smiled. When the woman walked up to the counter, she was looking down at her phone the entire time. I was actually the one who said, "Hello," and let her know we were there to look at available sites and that we were told to ask for Faith. She simply nodded her head, so I assumed she was Faith. She never looked up at me, never acknowledged me, and never made eye contact. It wasn't until my husband started talking that she finally looked up at him. Even then, she still never acknowledged me. I thought it was strange, but I brushed it off. After highlighting the available sites, she slid the map across the counter to my husband and told him we could drive around and take a look. Again, she never once acknowledged me or spoke directly to me. At that point, I already had a feeling, but I didn't want to jump to conclusions. My husband and I looked at each other, but we decided to keep an open mind and still check out the park. Sadly, it didn't get any better. The park itself is very old and outdated. The sites are packed closely together, and it didn't appear that many rules were being enforced. There were old couches, piles of all kinds of junk sitting around several RVs. It just wasn't well kept. As we drove around, one gentleman gave us a friendly wave, which was nice. Then, as we were leaving, we passed another man standing next to a broken down truck just staring at himself. By the time we finished driving through we already knew this wasn't the place for us. I can't say for certain what was Faith issue but I do know how I was treated. I'm a Black woman, my husband is White, and throughout our entire interaction she acknowledged him but completely ignored me. She wouldn't make eye contact with me, never spoke directly to me, and even handed the map to my husband without ever acknowledging my presence. As a Black woman, it's hard not to notice when you're treated differently and unfortunately that's exactly how this experience felt. I'm sharing my experience so other people, especially people of color, are aware and can decide for themselves. Maybe someone else will have a different experience, and I truly hope they do. But this was mine. Whether it was racial bias or simply poor customer service, no one should walk into a business and feel invisible. For us, this wasn't the right place, and we won't be back.

But heads up, it gets super cold in the fall and winter months. When my friends and I arrived, we were greeted by the nicest camp host I've ever met. She helped explain everything and sent us on our way. We stayed in camp site #9, and she said that's one of the most requested sites because of it's location and surrounding trees. She was very right! It was beautiful! The site had electricity, a very high raised fire pit, a clean picnic table, and room for 3-4 cars to park. The water spigot was right across, so not far to have to go at all. The restrooms were clean, air conditioned, and had a very strong and warm hand dryer. I loved it. The entire campsite was very quiet, peaceful and relaxing. I LOVED it! On my 2nd visit, I was in site #1, and it was equally as awesome!!

We've camped here several times. It's the only campground with electricity. Not sure why there's no…read morewater or other hookups since the restrooms are plumbed and have flush toilets but we're ok with electric. The last couple times we've had to avoid sitting outside because there's a large presence of meat wasps throughout the campground. I know we're in their neighborhood but there should be something the park service or hosts can do to at least minimize them with traps. At some point it's a safety thing. We did finagle a few traps ourselves but if it's not consistent across the campground, it's only marginally effective. At the very least there should be a disclaimer on the website that guests will be swarmed by hundreds of aggressive wasps the entire time they're there. Kind of pointless to go camping and have to stay inside to avoid being kamikaze'd.

Just spent 3 wonderful days there and on a busy Holiday. Its perfect for us and test bed for our…read morenew Rockwood Tent Camper. We found space 30 which met our needs for backing in the camper. Site was clean and the firepits were very efficient. I have seen a few bad comments on Bees. These are what we call Yellow Jackets or Meat Bees. "Yellow jackets in Nevada are aggressive stinging wasps that peak in activity during the late summer and fall months (August through October)" Eric,the Camp Host, who does a dam good job, gave us the remedy so as not to be bothered. Take a couple small shallow pans with water and a couple sticks. Sticks are so they can get to the water. They want WATER and they eat Meat. Bug spray only makes you their enemy. Keep that in mind when those steaks are waiting to be cooked. So place the pans maybe 10-15' from your pad and they will not bother you.. Whats amazing is they can empty a pan of water in a day. We had zero problems. So much for that. Its a tent camp spot, large trailers need to find another site. The Restrooms are Long Drops and Eric keeps them clean in spite of some of those with little class.. Its also on a circle for one way traffic, easy to follow. Its located at over 8200' in elevation, so if you are not used to Altitude, there is a reason. Suggestion. Bring plenty of water. Bring your own firewood. It can be purchased there via an automated dispenser, but...........................bring your own you will be happier. If you dont want to cook all the time, its a short drive back to the Mt Charleston Lodge (https://www.larkindependent.com/hotels/retreat-on-charleston-peak) for good food at the Restaurant. If you are on extended stay and need items, Smiths (https://www.smithsfoodanddrug.com/stores/grocery/nv/las-vegas/skye-canyon-marketplace/706/00367) has a huge Store with excellent service back down the mountain and off at Sky Parkway . Its only about 30 minutes. Thats the Best place for replenishment. What more can I say, we will try to get back before the weather gets bad . Living in Las Vegas its a treat. Another thank you to Eric for helping out with all the questions. He works an 8 day week to keep that place in good shape. You can also help by picking up any trash left behind. The view is amazing if you can get site 23 or site 17. There's some stairs going up and down for…read moreloading and unloading. Booking site 23 gotta be a month ahead because it's a hot commodity. And you're pretty close to site 24 so your experience kinda really depends on the neighbor 's behavior. The bathroom is pretty dirty so just site 23 is big enough for you to set up your own portable toilet or even do your necessary bowel movements in the wild. Oh and site 23 is pretty ventilated as wind blows through it. Nice a chill spot.

My recommendation is to record her walk through because it's a lot to commit to memory and I was thankful I had the video to reference when needed. The walk through at the end of the trip is pretty quick and easy. Our RV had no issues, the A/C worked, water pump/heater worked which was very much appreciated since it is a bit dated. Everything went off without a hitch. I would rent from her again if other less expensive options were not available.

Early May, 2024. (Arriving on a Sunday, leaving on Monday). We spent two days, including one night…read morecamping, in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area (NRA) which includes Mount Charleston. Administered by the US Department of Agriculture's Forest Service, the entrance is just 17 miles from Hwy 95 on Rte 157 or 45 minutes (and a world away) from the hustle and bustle - and heat - of the Las Vegas strip. Sunday. We started at the Visitor Gateway, where there are helpful staff and maps to help you to plan your stay. In addition, there is a gift shop, clean restrooms, an amphitheater, picnic areas, and trailheads to the Pack Rat Route and the Escarpment Trails. Next on our itinerary were a pair of scenic drives. From the Visitors Gateway, we traveled a short distance on Rte 157, until intersecting with Rte 158, which took us up the windy mountain road. We passed the entrances to The Resort on Mount Charleston, various trailheads, picnic areas, and campgrounds. We stopped at the Desert View Overlook, walking the short interpretive trail and taking photos. We continued in Rte 158 until we intersected with Rte 156, which we took left to the Lee Canyon ski area, passing picnic areas, campgrounds, and trailheads along the way. We then turned around, and went back down the mountain. Upon again intersecting with Rte 157, we took it to its terminus at the Mount Charleston Lodge. Our final destination was our campsite at the Fletcher View Campground (reviewed separately). Monday. We returned to the Visitors Gateway, and did the two "more difficult" hikes that originated there -- the Pack Rat Route (only 0.4 mi) is short, paved, and very steep. If you do it as a loop, the trail is somewhat washed out towards the end. Pack Rat connected to the 2.4 mile Escarpment Trail, which takes you above the cliffs and to some wonderful mountain views. Both of these trails are for hiking only. No bikes or horses. Some things to note: *The Visitors Gateway provides a good map of the area which I've posted a Yelp (in Spanish). It shows trails (including hiking, cycling, equestrian, and interpretative), campgrounds, picnic areas, restrooms, etc. *The map also highlights the trails in the NRA, with ratings of easy to moderate to more difficult to most difficult. It also provides distances, but not elevation changes. *When we were there (May, 2024), at least 6 trails, including the popular Mary Jane Falls Trail, were closed due to storm damage.

Our plan was to take a driving tour to visit four National Parks (Yosemite, Kings Canyon, Sequoia,…read moreand Joshua Tree) in California. A camper van from Vegas Campers gave us the chance to stay at campgrounds with greater planning flexibility, rather than booking multiple hotels. The website introduction was thorough and detailed. The variety of "training" videos showed the functionality of the camper van and boosted our confidence. The small size of the camper van allowed car-like driving, parking lot manners and great fuel economy. We basically had a two person, hard sided, tent on wheels! We made reservations for a specific van and had great communication about what to expect. Collecting the camper van was a breeze. The camper van was located in a secure lot. Once our Uber driver dropped us off at the camper van, we were on our way within 30 minutes. We had an itinerary that included campsite reservation in the National Parks, campsite reservations in commercial RV campgrounds, and a few hotel days interspersed to allow real showers and laundry duties. Everything in the camper van worked, and all the "accessories " were accounted for. We were able to use the features of the camper van to suit our needs. Converting back and forth from couch to two person bed configuration was a snap. We experienced night time temperatures ranging from 24 degrees to 75 degrees, and used the vehicle climate controls to provide heating/cooling as needed. The camper van ran flawlessly. Fuel mileage over our 1500+ mile trip was 24 mpg. Communication with Andrew and Kelsey was great. Last minute details of pick up/drop off were timely and detailed. Other questions that came up during our travels were quickly answered. We offer a glowing recommendation for Vegas Campers in providing a value packed camper van in a manageable two person size. The care and concern they expressed to deliver a camper van to enhance a vacation experience was most impressive. Do it again? You betcha!
