    Fletcher View Campground Lot #1

It's only a short drive from Las Vegas but it is a great place to escape from the Las Vegas summer heat. At 7,000 foot elevation its temperature is typically 25 degrees cooler than Las Vegas. There are only 11 lots half of which are by reservation and the remainder by first come first serve. Each lot has electrical outlets, 110 volt, 15 amp and 30 amp. Water and restrooms are located within the campground. Although it is right off of Kyle Canyon Road it is very quiet at night. There are many scenic hiking trails in the area. I was able to get two bars AT&T cellphone connectivity from my lot. The campground host is a nice friendly person.

What a nice spot to camp the host was also so every kind! I was very skeptical on being able to camp here at this spot since there really isn't a way of knowing if you'll get a spot (there is only 11 spots). As far as getting a spot, they are all first come first serve on weekends! Check out is at 12pm, so my best suggestion is to get there early afternoon to be able to get a campsite. Due to the time of year this is the only spot on Mt.Charleston that has electricity and bathrooms for campers. Which is definitely needed for the winter season. All areas come with a Picnic Table, Grills/Fire Ring and an Electricity Hookup. The bathrooms there are very clean and well kept! Right now there isn't a fire ban so definitely take advantage of being able to start a bon fire in your fire ring! It got down to 31 while there however as long as you have a good enough sleeping bag it's really not bad. Overall this is a really well kept camping site! Excited to go back :)

Great camping experience in Mt. Charleston. Make your reservation early as there are only 12 sites and it gets busy. I was lucky enough to book a site 1 week before Memorial Day and found out from the campers across from me their friend had cancelled last minute the day I booked, so I got lucky! 12 sites that are for small to medium trailers. There is 1 site in the back that will take a larger RV. I think it is number 11. The sites have electric hook ups and water hook ups. They also have a cement table, fire pit and large square dirt area for a large tent if you need it. We were at site number 8 and the tent area was off to the side which would make a cool hideout for the kids. Kyle Canyon Rd is near the campground so during the day we did hear a lot of cars and motorcycles go through but at night it was very quiet. They do have a host on the property and he is very committed to his job. This is not a campground for parties and loud music. It is a great family type campground and place to chill. At one point during the day we did have our music up and the host came by and said if he could hear it from the road, it was too loud. He did come by each day and provide us with a fresh trash bag and even offered to take our trash from us each morning. He provided a booklet and map of the area as well. Great Service. Off to the left of the campground is a trail that will take you down to the visitor center. The road was paved for a while and then got rocky, so we had to turn around as we had assumed it was paved the whole way and had a stroller with us. Off to the right is a secluded wooded area that we had a great time exploring. There was a ton of broken sleds and winter gear there from people playing in the snow. We saw a lot of animal prints and the host advised us that a lot of dear lived in the area were were exploring. There is a bathroom as well on site with showers. We did not need to use it as we had one in our trailer. Make sure to bring shower shoes and something to hold your shower items as although the showers were descent, I wouldn't touch anything in there!

I booked a camp site a month ago. My main concern was our group wanted to make S'mores and you could only do that at certain areas with a fire ring. Fletcher View was the only one open this season with fire rings. For $60 for one whole night, a guaranteed use of a fire ring, bathrooms and picnic area - it was worth it even though we didn't spend the night there. The only confusing part was when I made my reservation, I was told they have a cabin for us that could fit up to 16 people. I don't know if it was just too dark when we got there but I didn't see any cabins. I wasn't too concerned about that since we weren't planning on staying overnight anyway. We made S'mores on our fire ring and kept ourselves warm. It was a nice and relaxing change from Vegas craziness.

Clean and the hosts were lovely. Hard to nab a spot but otherwise was perfect and beautiful backdrops of the mountains!

Just 3 miles from the Red Rock Scenic Drive & Visitor Center and about 20 miles, and a world away, from the Las Vegas strip. The conservation area features hiking, rock climbing, bike riding, horseback riding. and scenic driving (reservations required October 1-May 31, 8 am-5 pm). Be mindful of the weather. Temperatures are scorching in the summer, and the campground closes seasonally during the hottest months (June 1-August 31). All standard sites include picnic tables, grills, and fire pits. (Some, but not all, picnic tables are covered -- a welcome sight on a HOT day). There are common vault toilets, trash cans, and drinking water (but no facilities to fill water tanks or to dispose of RV waste). All sites are nonelectric. The views within the campground are of a unique and pretty desert landscape, but they are not as spectacular as the scenic drive area just a few miles away. Temperatures were hot but bearable during the day and cooled nicely at night. The price was reasonable for a standard nonelectric site. $25 camping use fee, minus $12.50 discount for senior NPS pass, plus $8 online reservation fee = $20.50 for one night. Only two small quibbles to mention. (1) The signage within the campground could be improved. We had site 42 and drove around a few times before finding it. (2) There were quite a few restrooms with vault toilets. Each building had two separate rooms with toilets -- BUT the campground locked one side on two of the restrooms that we tried so only one toilet was functional. This created a queue in the morning. We would stay here again.

I wasn't able to use the shower, bathroom or laundry without having to traverse to the opposite side park each time to do so. I brought this up to management and asked for a refund, but she kept on bringing up irrelevant things that had no bearing on the situation like, I should have reserved an rv spot even though I didn't have an rv( the rv's on that side of the park had the same issue, but probably had toilets in their campers ) or I should have booked a tent site at the front of the park since I'm clairvoyant and should know instinctively that the back of the park was out of order. Bottom line is this park has no accountability, they won't admit to mistakes. This park is also impossible to navigate after dark since many of the site numbers aren't visible, often pointed in the opposite direction of travel. Simply put, you didn't offer a service I couldn't have gotten from a free rest stop, you've only provided frustration . Give me my money back.

There are zero trees so if it's hot be prepared for no shade. The swim pond was full of green algae except a small swim area but still wouldn't want to swim there.
