First 7 campsite before 2 more being setup on MY Site.

I've been camping for years and have never had an experience like this. The 2nd night at my site, 14 people showed up next to me in a single site with 5 cars. The people were racking the ground all over the area, flattening parts to set up tents. As they were doing this, the camp host along with the forest rangers drove by (multiple times). The workers would just watch the people racking the ground, violating rules, and go on their way without saying a word. One of the men staying at the site asked me if he could pitch a tent on my tent pad, which I said "no." Having people close would cause my dogs to bark. He said "ok" and went on to continue to set up. Later on in the night, the group continued to be loud. I tried ignoring the noise, telling myself "let them have a good time". 2am came around and I could not take it anymore. To add on to this, the campsite on the other side of us also had shown up with a group. This group was larger. We counted 18 people and 5 tents (single site) before going into our camper. So I had two groups on both sides of my campsite who were also partying loud at 2am. The next morning, I woke up, looked outside and saw two additional tents that were set up on MY campsite, next to my fire pit. This is the group I said "no" to pitching a tent on my tent pad and now they have two tents they set up at night so I couldn't say "no". I did address this and they responded saying they were leaving soon anyways. Mind you, all these tents were HUGE and blocked our beautiful view. I have never experienced something like this before. I was very disappointed in the hosts, who were well aware of all these tents and cars at both sites. I expected more, since rules are meant to be implemented for a reason. I hope this review changes the way the campsite operates.

Summertime means a lot of things to different people, and for me, it means it's camping season! If you're looking for a great mountain retreat close to the city, but removed enough to enjoy nature without wifi, McWilliams campground is definitely the place to check into for a weekend. The campground is located in Lee Canyon, about an hour outside of Las Vegas, and has 75 campsites which accommodate both tents and RVs (but in my opinion, you're not really camping unless you have a tent and have no TV or climate control.) This campground is definitely a favorite go-to spot for me as it checks all the boxes for a mountain camping retreat minus the bears. As added perks, it has the perfect amenities for a little more comfort when camping, including potable water and fully functioning restrooms. You can read a little more about about my experience at this campground, here: https://www.nvilloria.com/post/mountain-camping-in-vegas-mcwilliams-campground

McWilliams Campground is a developed campground for both tents and RVs in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area near Las Vegas, NV. In late July and early August when it's well over 100 °F in Las Vegas, around 50 miles west to this campground and the weather could potentially be anywhere from 20-40 degrees cooler. The thermometer in our truck read 106°F while we were cruising on the US 95 Highway (aka Veterans Memorial Highway). By the time we reached our campsite at about 3:30 p.m., it read 66°F on 7/31/18. Then rain poured down while we sat up camp. Then it drizzled a while. Then it was gone by the time we were done setting up. Hahaha... If you like the show The Vikings, you may think to yourself "Thor!" when the thunder rumbles here. It gets intense. Or maybe it's just been a while since I've heard a real thunderstorm... Sites are dry. No electrical hook-ups. No sewer/water. Closest dump stations to my knowledge are in Pahrump or Las Vegas. There are vault and flush toilets. Water spigots. Our site had two picnic tables. A grill & campfire ring. Recycling and trash bins nearby. TIPS - dogs allowed - the Spring Mountain Gateway Visitor Center and the Silent Heroes Of The Cold War National Memorial are a short drive away... that's where you'll probably get the best cell phone service 2018 Yelp challenge #170

This is our go-to spot for family camping trips. There's no cell service or internet, which I love. They accept online reservations for most of the sites. Pictures of each site can also been seen on the reservation website. All the sites seem to be nice, a little close together but not too close. Each site has a fire ring, picnic table, parking spaces (some fit RV and multiple vehicles), pad for a large tent (our 10-person tent fits perfectly), table for camp stove, bbq, and there are bathrooms and water pumps close-by. The bathrooms are surprisingly clean! This is a great camping spot even if you're an inexperienced camper.

Great place to go camping usually the weather in the summer is about 30° plus cooler then Las Vegas. The Dolomite and Mcwilliams campground have been combine now it's only McWilliams. We love walking the entire campground. It's a great work out it's close to a mile and a half. For those of you that cannot be without Internet service it is definitely not the place for you there is no Internet service at the campground you have to drive down about 7 miles down the road to get service.

Clean place, clean restrooms, roads are easy to get around. Since there is water and large restrooms, showers could be added. Also if there was a Rv dump you could stay longer. Nice and quiet. Sites are well thought out. Be nice to our forest & bring your own firewood.

I sure do. I've done three Love Hikes hikes over the last three years, Valley of Fire Intense twice and Red Rock Moderate once. I could see planning my next Las Vegas visit around doing two or three of their hikes. What makes Love Hikes so great? * Great guides who know all the trails like the backs of their hands, are listening to you and will find a route that works for you. When I asked for the intensity to be tuned up on the Intense hike - that's what I got. A thrilling and challenging experience with a guide who showed me how to do what I would have thought of as beyond me. And when I wanted a moderate scrambling experience, I got exactly that. * Owners, Roberta and Jacob, Las Vegas Natives, who deeply care that their guests have a great experience and will do anything they reasonably can to provide one. * The assurance that while the environment may be unfamiliar and challenging (middle of the desert) you'll be with well trained people who exactly what they are doing and who will make sure you have a great, and safe, experience. * Incredibly reasonable pricing for the beauty, thrills, challenge (if you choose a moderate or above hike), and incredible convenience. * Pro tip: If you love taking video (guilty!!) and are on a moderate or above hike, make sure you have a hat or body mount since the parts you'll want to video most will require using two hands. I was excited to complete this hike as I have decided to complete a hiking challenge for this year and this would be hike number one. We promptly met at 9:00am in the Red Springs parking lot and begin our ascent up this so called staircase. There really is no set trail or staircase at all but lots of climbing and scrambling over and through large rocks. You just have to go with someone who has done it before and will guide you up the safest route possible. Luckily my friends complete this hike annually. I wasn't sure that I could handle this climb, but turns out that I was much stronger that I thought. It is strenuous at times and the cardio workout is real, but the reward at the top is so worth it. The views are epic from viewing the entire Red Rock Canyon and seeing way out toward Mt. Potosi. In the other direction seeing through Brownstone Canyon up to Mt. Charleston Peak. This hike also includes some stunning views of our beautiful city. I can only imagine how pretty it would be up here at sunset, but never mind going down would be way to challenging. Is happy something that you can have? A few years ago, the answer to this question might of come out wrong. I live happy in aiding and making sure that those around me are happy. I can remember back to when I was a wee bitty thing, walking and running was a freedom that released all stress and anxiety. In high school I was in track and field. You get out on the field, all you can see is a hurdle; now run and jump. Empty your mind. You have to become one with the movement that your conducting. As I proceeded through life; life happened with marriage and family commitments. Now that the children are more independent it's time to rekindle a happy that once shaped me.
