As a new patient I always make sure my insurance is good and everything is in order before I make an appointment. I verified 4 time with office staff that my insurance was accepted the they we ok with it. Once was even in person, they gave me a packet of paper to fill out and turn in when my appointment came. I filled it out, took it to the appointment today. Last day in February 2022 . The person, not wearing a mask I might add, told me my Insurance was no good and not accepted there. An appointment that I was waiting for for a whole two months was not happening and they were rude and uncaring. I took the paperwork back and left. An uncaring office that does not even know which insurance they accept. Idiots. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Hoeft since we moved to Arizona in 2015. It is always so hard to find new doctors you connect with in a new state. Dr. Hoeft has always been kind, compassionate and caring. I can ask her anything and I feel that she goes out of her way to really explain any of my fears and concerns. I've never had a bad experience with her or the office staff. I highly recommend Dr. Hoeft if you would like a gyno that really gets you. :) read more

I love this place! They are very clean and helpful. More importantly, they are kind and caring. My husband and I have gone through a miscarriage with them and they couldn't have been more helpful, supportive and direct when we needed it. Now we are expecting our daughter this fall and they have been more than accommodating in providing me whatever I needed, whether it was new FMLA paperwork for my job, additional visits because I was afraid something happened to the baby, or providing my with all past receipts to show to the FSA card company. They are very busy and I can see why. I avoid appointments on Wednesdays. But I have recommended them to another friend who has had their own complications with pregnancy, and they have also said the people at this office were incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and caring. I wouldn't go anywhere else! read more

I'd give a zero if I could! Incompetent and inept healthcare. In one week this office and the Doctors dropped the ball, on three separate occasions. They couldn't even show up for a scheduled appointment! After the heartbreak of a lost pregnancy, the communication between the office and the adjacent hospital was nonexistent! Not once but twice! After receiving a text message confirmation of an office appointment the day before, the Doctor was not even in the office the day of the appointment. There is no standard of care when the most basic courtesies are thrown out the window. Won't be surprised when they get sued for malpractice.. read more

Well we're expecting our second and chose to come back to this office since so many recommend it and the staff is great! Wait times still exist. Was about an 3 hour process Just to be seen and have the ultra sound. Wish it wasn't as long but what can i do, next appointment in a month. read more

Dr. Serrano is very kind, and empathetic which is very refreshing to find in a doctor. If she ever relocates, I will be happy to go back to being a patient of hers. Unfortunately, the office staff completely mishandled a very routine procedure and made an already stressful time in my life worse. When they weren't full of attitude for no reason, they were just straight rude, even over the phone. Endometriosis is extremely painful and only 100% diagnosable through a laparoscopic procedure. Dr Serrano said I needed to get in for the surgery as quickly as possible bc the pain and fatigue were causing me to miss too much work. I wasn't allowed to schedule the surgery until my healthcare approved it. "Office procedure" i get it, but I BEGGED the girl both at the front and the one at check out to please call me the second it's approved so I could get into surgery ASAP. 2 weeks later I called to see if my insurance was having issues. "Nope. The surgery is approved 100%!" She said they found out THE WEEK before. She said they were planning on calling me "soon" to schedule. At this point I was on a health leave from work bc I was physically in so much pain that I could not sit down. I'll never forget how angry I was. At the pre-op apt the front desk said my insurance covered 100% so there is no copay for pre or post op apts or the outpatient procedure. Then during the apt Dr Serrano said I needed to have blood drawn a week before surgery, 48hrs before and the day of. The office girl refused to let me schedule the draws bc "the dr doesn't know what she's talking about" and laughed it off. It was not funny when the hospital called and threatened to cancel the surgery bc they needed the bloodwork. I had to drop everything and get to the hospital for bloodwork to keep my surgery date! I also found out at the hospital that my surgery was NOT 100% covered. I'm still furious. Were they looking at another patients coverages when telling me? And don't worry, they billed me for the pre and post op apts. They also charged $25 for the dr to sign a form for work. And said I would get the form back in 2 WEEKS. For a SIGNATURE!! Recovery from surgery wasn't even 2 weeks!! They have 0 care for their patients. If I never go back, it will be too soon. read more

I absolutely love Desert Bloom ! The staff here is all very friendly and welcoming. I see Taber - FNP and she is INCREDIBLE ! She is so knowledgeable always has your best interest as priority and most importantly makes you feel so comfortable. She treats you like family always remembers you and greets you with a smile. I had to stop coming here for a year due to insurance conflicts and could not find a practice as amazing as this one or a Primary OB-GYN as wonderful as her. All Dr. and NP at this practice provide the same high quality care. I will never go to anyone else. Thank you Desert Bloom for providing such amazing service ! read more

Worse customer service I have ever received they made me come back in June for a second visit to schedule a basic procedure that they had discussed to do on my March visit because they would not move forward to schedule it without it. After a month no one ever called me to schedule the procedure anyway. It had taken several phone calls to even get that appointment and they treated me like a new patient on the phone and passed me around 6-7 times before insisting I come back in. At that point when I went in I had to do new patient paperwork and and saw the doctor 10 minutes and they billed me $298 which my insurance didn't pay and now I'm going through the same thing. Can't even reach the billing department as even that number gives you the indication if you press one you will get a person but then after waiting tells you to go login to the portal and leave a message. If you press 3 for scheduling you can get a person because of course they want new appointments and those folks are nice but not equipped to help with anything. I was finally able to send a message to billing through the portal. The frustration of the phone system caused much stress as I broke from my work day to try and deal with it. Now I will be looking for a new doctor and my issue remains uncared for. If it causes me any issue what repercussion do I have? This seems negligent and robbery to bill and expect money for that second visit. read more

I don't know why I even came back here. I'm in their waiting room and after I finish this review I will be looking for a different doctor. After waiting forty minutes past my appointment time I had to be the one to ask if they'd forgotten about me. The woman was kind but did not have a clue about who I was. I was told it would be twenty more minutes. That is an hour past my appointment time. Ridiculous. read more

I won't even get into the traumatic delivery experience I had... But, 7 months ago I had my son and I've been going back and fourth with this office since then. I had an emergency C-section, and had a checkup about a week later. The office tested my urine the morning of my checkup.. a few hours later I was having issues with my bladder and I knew something wasn't right. I called the office and it was after hours and was told there was no on call doctor and that there NEVER is an on call doctor which seemed odd to me. I was told to rush to the emergency triage center at St. Joes. I was diagnosed with a severe bladder infection that should of been caught earlier in the day at my checkup. About a week after that my C-section incision wasn't looking right to me. I called during office hours and without them asking any questions I was once again sent to the triage center. All for them to tell me it all looked great and that the drainage I was experiencing was pretty normal. SIX HUNDRED dollars later for emergency triage visits because my doctor couldn't or wouldn't see me. For about 4 1/2 months now I've been going around and around with this office in hopes that they could get the hospital to write off these bills. At this point I have given up, I haven't heard a word from them since December.. The Doctor called me personally a few weeks after I had my baby and she told me she would talk to the head of the triage billing. Never heard back. I believe I have given them ample time to do that. Then I spoke to the office manager who also said she would look into it and talk to the Doctor about what she had discussed with me. No one has called me back for months and whenever I call the Doctor, she is conveniently out of the office and no one ever has new information for me. I believe they never intended to help me with this and they just keep giving me the runaround in hopes that I would just pay it. Because of the neglect of the front office and the medical assistant I was sent over to the hospital. No one took the time to put me on hold to ask the DOCTOR if I could be seen at the office. Instead they took it upon themselves and instructed me to go the hospital which I figured would be somewhat of a follow up for just having major abdominal surgery. After having my son I should've been enjoying every minute of motherhood instead I have been battling a hospital who badgers me about paying them for bills that I shouldn't be responsible for and being threatened to get sent to collections. At this point, it's not even about the bills. If there was nothing the Doctor or office manager could do, the LEAST they could of done would be to follow up with me and tell me so. The tears that I have shed over this office and the trauma I experienced during and after my C-section is something that no mother should have to experience. I hope this review helps any of you expectant mothers decide upon a good OB/GYN. read more

This hospital sure is nice--yes there are nice robes and blankets in the rooms for you. And the office itself is pretty fancy and well kept. The Dr is also quite knowledgeable. However, I went in for a regular "Well Woman" exam as a new patient. I guess when you go in you sign a form stating that if you ask any questions of the Dr you are charged for that--basically as a second office visit. Without realizing that this included questions about basic health questions, I asked about some. Also, no one stated this fact. I've never encountered this at any other drs. offices. Well, in the mail I got a bill for $105.00 which insurance brought down to about $67. When I called the office, I was told that because I wasn't "healthy" -- I asked for BCPs and that was enough to warrant this extra fee. Basically, if you ask any questions while you are at your "Well Woman" visit, you aren't healthy and you will get a charge like this as well. I spoke with billing and that is exactly what I was told. That is, in my opinion, completely inappropriate, especially for new patients. I can't imagine going to a dr and asking no questions during my first visit, especially for a visit to your OB/GYN. You have been warned! I was not, and I paid the bill but I will NEVER return to a place that is so into making money off their patients. Those fancy blankets are not worth it. read more

Ok ladies, no one enjoys going to the "girlie doctor" but we all have to do it. I was absolutely horrified and really didn't want to go but Desert Bloom made me feel so comfortable! Everyone is accommodating, friendly and very professional. I highly recommend Dr. Katy Hoeft! She is the very best! She's so nice and friendly and will sit with you and answer any questions you may have, no matter how silly you feel. My friend referred me here. When I called to make an appointment the receptionist was very rude. I went here because I was interested in an IUD for birth control. I went in originally for a consultation with Katy Hoeft. She was very sweet and personable. She talked to me about the different IUD's and we decided together that the Skyla brand was best for me. I came back to have it inserted by Dr. Mainman. When I arrived, they had me fill out a form for the IUD and then told me it was the wrong form. I think it was the form for Mirena not Skyla. I felt like I was being blamed for the wrong form, but they are the ones who gave it to me. Dr. Mainman changed the brand on the top of the form and sid I didn't have to fill out another one. He was very nice and prepared me for the pain I would feel during insertion. After it was in, the nurse told me to get dressed. Nothing else. I got dressed and waited for a moment in the room. Then I stepped out into the hall and looked around. I didn't see anyone and I didn't know what I was supposed to do. I walked towards the front. I saw a woman at through the check-out window and she didn't say anything to me. Then I walked up tot the lobby and front desk. There was nobody at the desk. I waited for a few seconds and then left. About 10 minutes later, they called me and scolded me for leaving. I explained that nobody gave me any instruction. I asked if I owed money because I would come right back to pay. They said I didn't owe anything but I needed to set up a follow up appointment. They wanted me to turn around and drive back to make an appointment. I told the girl on the phone that I would not drive back for that, and she can make me an appointment on the phone. She was very rude and annoyed with me. A few days after my IUD was placed, I started bleeding. A friend of mine told me that it is normal. But it progressively got worse. It turned into a full blown period. I had the worst cramps and I was bleeding profusely. After more than a week of this I called Desert Bloom and asked if I should be concerned. They said they would have someone call me back. I specifically told them to call my work phone because I can't carry my cell at work. When the person called back, they did call my work phone. She asked me questions about my symptoms and then told me I might have the bleeding and cramps for TWO MONTHS. Nobody told me this before I got the IUD. She then told me she would speak to Dr. Mainman and find out if I need to be seen earlier than my follow up and she would call me back. For the next 2 days I missed multiple calls because she always called my CELL phone. I did not get the missed calls until the end of the day when they were closed. So annoying. My bleeding became so bad that I was anemic and dehydrated. I was also experiencing migraines. I became so weak that I called my EMT friend and he had to give me IV fluids. I wish someone would've warned me about the side effects before I got this. On the day of my follow up, I was unable to make it and when I called I was told that they will count me as a "no show". If I "don't show" 2 more times, they will drop me as a client. I thought that was a little harsh. Again, the person on the phone was very unfriendly. At least I called. I work in a medical facility and we count it as a "no show" if we do not receive any contact from the client. I am still going to go here because I liked Dr. Mainman and Katy Hoeft, but I don't think I will recommend this place to others because the front desk staff is so rude. read more

I had my first appointment here with Dr. Taber and her medical student the other day. She was absolutely lovely and let me know everything that was being done during my appointment. I love this place! I'm having my first baby and after a bad experience on the Northwest side of town, I drive 35 mins. to receive care here. Everyone is very nice and helpful and the office is beautiful! I love Dr. Dave's vibe as well... He seems like he will be a great doctor to have in the room when I deliver. He takes his time with questions I have and makes me feel very comfortable. Some people on yelp gave bad reviews due to wait times, but Dr. Dave does deliver babies so he can't always be there. I have experienced getting to know the physicians assistant and nurse practitioner and both are lovely ladies who are very intelligent. Edit: Fast forward months later, and I am even happier with my choice in OB! Dr. Mainman was there to deliver my baby and made himself available throughout the day to check on me. I had heard horror stories of hospitals/OBs turning women away if they were not at least 4 cm dilated and Dr Mainman admitted me at only 1 cm. I was able to get comfortable, wait for him to break my water, and get my epidural. Thank God!!! read more

I came to Dr Serrano because she was recommended to me as I was looking for a OBGYN since I'll be moving to the area soon. I really wanted to find a OBGYN that made me feel cared for and I could trust to deliver my babies in the future. My first initial appointment gave me a good feeling but the office staff were absolutely terrible about getting things done for me. I only found out about my infection because I logged into the portal to see the results. Nobody bothered to call me. It took me calling 4 times leaving multiple messages to finally get an explanation and be told a prescription was being sent to the pharmacy. Then after contacting the pharmacy several times to find out the script was never sent I had to call Dr Serrano's office yet again so I could finally get the medication. Dr Serrano also ordered a ultrasound and labs because I addressed my concern about being in my 40's and wanting to make sure I can still have children. Well I had to call her office 4-5 times before her staff finally sent the order in. Two months later I finally had the appointment for the ultrasound and was told I'd hear from my provider (Dr Serrano) in 2-3 business days to go over the results. Well over a week passed and I hadn't heard anything from her office so I reached out to them and was told them didn't even have the report. Well I figured I'd try logging into the Portal for simon med where I had it done and sure enough I was able to see the results so I reached out to Dr Serrano's office once again because I was feeling really saddened and concerned to see I have uterine submucosal fibroids which I know nothing about. A patient should be able to rely on their doctor to discuss results and a treatment plan. In my case I had to rely on myself to get answers! Had I not checked the portal who knows when I'd have my results! Meanwhile I've called her office again for over a week straight leaving messages with her staff and left messages in the portal for Dr Serrano to call me herself to discuss my fibroids. I no longer have insurance which is why I purposely scheduled these appointments while I still had insurance and hopes to get everything completed right before my insurance ended. But it didn't pan out that way due to her staff not doing their job correctly. I was told by one of her staff members that she would see if she could set up a appointment via zoom for me to talk to the doctor or by phone since I no longer currently have insurance. Well I never heard anything back so I sent the doctor another message through the portal letting her know I'm concerned and really need to speak to her about my results. A few days goes by and I'm told by her medical assistant that Dr Serrano says I need to find another OBGYN because I'll probably need surgery. Yup that's right I got kicked to the curb and still sit here shaken up over having these fibroids. I new nothing about this condition until having to self educate on this topic and everything I'm reading is not good especially because I still want children. A patient should never be left feeling this way and having to do all of the foot work that her and the staff should have done. Shame on Dr Serrano and her team for the way they treated me. I will not be back to see this doctor and will never recommend her to anyone. I used to work for an orthopedic surgeon and this is not the way we treated our patients whether they had insurance still or not. Patients need to feel cared for and heard. read more

I found Desert Bloom via google reviews and came to them for my third pregnancy which resulted in a miscarriage. They examined me very thoroughly and referred me to a wonderful specialist, Dr. Hutchison. After getting pregnant again for the 4th time (no babies yet), I went back to them and thus far they have been very accommodating, understanding, and professional. I imagined going into an office and being another number but so far I actually feel like they know me (even if that may not be the case). The staff rotate their patients so each gets an opportunity to get to know you! I know that I may be a little more nervous than the typical first time mom but they don't make me feel like I am burdening them and empathize for me. So far I am very pleased with the services baby and I are receiving! read more

Not a very helpful staff- Spoke to both front desk girl AND office manager. My family is re-locating from the East Coast to AZ and wanted to plan ahead to make sure I was covered-- Obv cause that's the first thing you do when you are pregnant and moving that far, is to make sure you are covered especially if you are paying top dollar for your insurance. After calling Carefirst they told me to give them the provider number so they can check to make sure of coverage but this office refused and only checked their computer systems. They continuously stated that the only way they can check is if I make an appointment and bring my card that first day. Why would i do that not knowing if im covered or not? Other offices were nice enough to help, why couldn't they? Thanks...for nothing! read more

Dr. Mainman seemed very interested in my situation and diagnosed me rather quickly. Had me in the OR to perform a hysterectomy within weeks. Problem being he does not seem to care or ask about pain levels. I was taken off pain medication only 5 days after surgery without even asking me what if any pain I was still having. When I called to try to tell him I was having pain and needed relief I was given tylenol 3, 1q6h. What a joke. Now I am contemplating urgent care. Absolute waste of insurance money when I'm under the care of a physician. I have left messages with his office but now he is on his way out of town on vacation. So I'm sure I will get no response. So if you care about not hurting, don't go here. read more

Desert bloom is one of the best ob/gyns I've ever been to! I made my initial review on my office exam which was good. Getting my test results was a different story. I had to wait a month and two days to get my results. The purpose of this review is to empower and equip young women to ensure you feel comfortable asking as many questions as you need to. I did not have a great experience with Desert Bloom and my GYN while there. While at Desert Bloom (under the care of a doctor whom is no longer there), I had an abnormal pap that led to a biopsy that led to a LEEP procedure. At the time being 25 years old, I simply did not ask all the questions I should have to be fully informed which led to a difficult experience that has taken me a few years to resolve emotionally. Please, please just understand the importance of advocating for yourself and if you have a question, just ask it! You are empowered to have a choice and to speak up if something doesn't feel or seem right. And it is your responsibility to do so. We women have to help each other out :) I hope others have a better experience than I did and that you feel cared for when it comes to women's health. read more

I was surprised by the poor reviews. I've found the staff to be friendly. I think Dr. Mainman is one of the best doctors I've seen. I've been a patient of this clinic for the third trimester of my pregnancy and postpartum. Dr Serrano was the provider. I didn't like the way she tried to use "scare tactics" because I simply didn't have the funds for the 3D ultrasound. She kept insisting that I should had done it, but I thought that it wasn't a medical necessity, it's only to peek at your baby. My insurance didn't cover the procedure as well. All my previous ultrasounds were just fine. She literally told me that my baby could have some health issues and when I asked if she could hear the heartbeat and if it was normal , she snapped at me and told me that she didn't know at that point. I was kind of shocked to hear a response like this, because as a doctor you for sure know if the heartbeat is normal or not, she could've used their machine to check it out , if she really was so concerned, instead of acting the very bizarre way. As I was pregnant , I felt like a horrible mother after a visit like that. She told me that I should've had money for the 3D ultrasound. So rude. I won't be going to this doctor again. read more

Dr. Mainman pushed a procedure to me that not only did not address my needs, but specifically ignored my situation and, according to two other doctors, would have placed me in danger. After I researched the procedure and opted for something simpler and safer, her office called me to let me know they had made a mistake and would not see me again because they don't take my health insurance any longer. She is not a doctor as much as she is a salesperson for her office's signature procedures. Do NOT listen to her if she tells you an invasive procedure has no risks or side effects. She is not genuinely concerned for you. read more

What an awesome office, staff and doctors!!! I was expecting my first child and was previously at another facility but wasn't recieving the care I felt was appropriate for a pregnancy. I then decided to switch doctor's and asked co-workers and family for recommendations and was recommended to Desert Bloom. Right away I was taken care of. Everyone at Desert Bloom makes you feel comfortable. Never rushing you, there to answer any questions and very caring. And if I had any questions or concerns I would ask for Rochelle she was such a sweetheart (although everyone else was as well). I had never had a male ob and was pretty nervous about it I must say. But after having Dr. David Mainman as my doctor I could say I was nervous over nothing. He is THE best ob I've had. He makes u feel welcomed and worry free. He delivered my first born and will do so any other children I may have in the future! Oh and they have this awesome parking area right in their parking lot for when you deliver you can park there instead of the parking garage that's on the other side of the hospital. Dersert Bloom is definitely worth the 45 minute drive from my home! read more

I had the best experience with Dr. Mainman and his staff. He delivered my second child via c section and took the time to "fix" my horrible scar I had from the first time around. After having not been there for 6 years I made the mistake to go to another doc for my female problems, thinking that a female doc would be better suited for that. But boy was I wrong. Thankfully the staff at Desert Bloom took my concerns serious right away when I called to get a second opinion. Dr. Mainman took so very good care of me before, during and after my total hysterectomy. He always gave me all the options and took time to listen to my concerns. Never did I feel rushed. I highly recommend him. read more

Although both Doctors at Desert Bloom are good the office requires pre-payment for delivery even without billing your insurance. This means that you could be paying hundreds if not not thousands of dollars--10 months before your child is born. I was told that this amount is held and required to be held until after delivery regardless of whether you have met deductible. Insurance is billed and then you will be reimbursed as necessary. This entire process could hold up your money for up to a year depending on the insurance process. Dr. Timothy Hoskins has left Desert Bloom, he is a great doctor and has his own practice here in Tucson. We will be leaving Desert Bloom and going to Dr. Hoskins instead. read more

I was seen here due to Stage 4 Endometriosis and it was the worst experience. Dr.Mainman belittled my pain and overall did not pay any attention or any consideration to my situation. He was more concerned in my fertility than I have ever been and put me on the NuvaRing and that was my worst mistake. He didn't care that I had an enormous ovarian cyst and did not want to operate due to once again my fertility. When I complained of pain with urination he just assumed I had a tract Infection and gave me medication for it, then I received a call 3 days later telling me my urine culture came back normal. After being fed up with wasting my time, money and getting nowhere with his visits I went elsewhere a REAL endometriosis specialist and on my 1st visit after the trans vaginal ultrasound I had my laparoscopy scheduled and within two weeks my cyst was gone. I also found the root to my urine pain as well as other diagnostics that contribute to my everyday chronic pain, all at the same place with the same specialist. Endo sisters, do not waste your time or money here. read more

Last November I had a total hysterectomy performed by Dr. Mainman. Since I didn't have ovaries, I had to start taking Estradiol. Soon after my surgery, I experienced horrible headaches, extreme nausea and felt absolutely horrible. I went to see Dr. Mainman during my post opp 90 day. I wasn't charged a copay, which I shouldn't of been. My Estradiol was adjusted and I immediately felt great. A few months later I received a bill for a $35 copay. I immediately called and it explained this was an error, I was seen within my post opp period. Billing said they would investigate and call me back. Billing called back said nope my issue with the Estradiol wasn't covered under post opp. I disputed and said I wasn't paying the copay. Now 1 year later I needed a refill on my Estradiol and they wouldn't refill until o payed my copay. It's absolutely sad that they would hold my RX hostage (you cannot go without the Estradiol it's absolutely mandator) want to be until I paid a copay that never should've been charged to me. I had no problem paying the $1000 upfront for my surgery. That's the kind of service you will get. Everything is about money with this office. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more
