I usually yelp hotels, activities and food but you have to take the time to take care of yourself too! Dr. Moussa and his staff were fabulous! First of all such an awkward experience (discussing and getting a colonoscopy) I could not have asked asked for a more friendly and professional interaction. From the moment you arrive for your consultation or procedure to when you leave. I will be honest I did have to wait a short while past my appointment, but I could tell it was because they care about people and their patients. I am always willing to wait and be patient when I know the doctor is going to listen and take care of my concerns and not rush me especially when I am nervous about a new procedure and probably have more questions than expected. I am uninsured. So, near the end of my initial consultation with the doctor who would be performing my procedure, I made sure he understood that I was uninsured, and needed to know the cost of the procedure. Very quickly, he stated $1200, but if we have to send something for biopsy, that will be around $200. When I asked if $1200 really covered everything, he assured me it did, and not to worry because they have many uninsured patients, and he "gets it". I paid $1400 the day of the procedure, and now am being billed an additional $485, because they had to send something for biopsy. What?!? Their billing office told me that the doctor doesn't work in billing, shouldn't have quote a price to me, and that the possibility of additional charges was covered in the small print. Lied straight to my face. NEVER, EVER, GOING BACK. read more

Dr. Peterson was knowledgeable and helpful, but the same cannot be said for the office staff. I was prescribed a medication that required verification from my insurance. I called the office five times over the course of a month, was told each time that no action had been taken, and was promised a follow-up call each time. I was never called, and the prescription was never filled. I then had to cancel my colonoscopy because the prep medication sat unfilled at the pharmacy for two weeks, as Adobe also could not find time to return an inquiry from the pharmacist. The office staff appears to be either incompetent, or just plain indifferent to the actual health and treatment of their patients. If you make an appointment here, you will find a good physician. Just don't expect to have prescriptions filled, phone calls returned, or any level of concern about your health once you leave the exam room. There are much better options. read more

I saw Dr. Moussa because of elevated liver levels and also for a colonoscopy. Dr. Moussa is incredibly thorough, brilliant and compassionate. He, and all of his staff, took great care of me. Dr. Moussa listens well and explains conditions and options clearly. He specialties include both Hepatology and Gastroenterology. The staff at Adobe Gastroenterology are also extremely professional, equally compassionate and go out of their way to support patient needs. I give my highest recommendation to Dr. Moussa and Adobe Gastroenterology. read more

My sister was a patient at this facility on October 12, 2022, from the time we entered the facility the woman at the front desk was rude and condescending. She would not process my sisters Medicare Advantage insurance and insisted that she pay $100 for the service, while they wait for reimbursement. I attempted to speak with the receptionist to no avail. While my sister was getting her procedure, I personally called her insurance and confirmed is was a fully paid routine procedure. This business needs to overhaul the front reception/billing staff, they take from people who are on a fixed income. They advertise they accept Medicare amongst other insurance and then choose not to followup and check coverage. What the young receptionist fails to realize is that elderly on a fixed income on Medicare need that money to make ends meet for the month, like buying food and medication. The doctors are phenomenal and caring, if you can get past the front desk who chooses to not do their job, treat patients poorly, take money from the elderly population. Again, the doctor who performed her procedure was great, just not his front desk staff. I have called this place for the past 2 days to attempt to work this out prior to contacting the BBB and writing this review, but only get a voice message that they are too busy to answer the phone. If you need help urgently, they are useless. First, they require a referral from your primary care physician. Then, once they have the referral, they decide whether or not they are going to deign to see you. It takes several days to find out if you're even going to be granted an appointment. Apparently they think they are the Mayo Clinic. My advice is to choose a different practice. read more

Dr Moussa and his staff are wonderful. From the initial consult until the actual colonoscopy and endoscopy I felt well cared for and not rushed. Dr Moussa is very comprehensive in his explanation, time with you and going over the results with you right after the procedure. Once I had recovered he handed me a report and explained it perfectly. I have been a patient of Adobe Gastro for several years. This year I have new insurance so I verified with both my PCP and insurance company that the referral had been sent. After waiting a couple of weeks for Adobe Gastro to call me to make an appointment, I finally called them. No one ever answered the phone. I have left 3 voice messgages to make an appointment. I even stopped by one Friday morning. The office was open but it was dark and no one was at the front desk. I rang the bell 3 times. I could see someone in an adjacent office but no one ever came out. I've been trying to make an appointment since August. Finally gave up and I just made an appointment with another practice in town. Took less than a week. I won't go back to Adobe Gastro. read more

Horrible Communication, misinformation and lack of accountability. Couldn't get a procedure scheduled after 4 months of waiting since scheduling a consultation in December and in March discovering on my own that what I have been told about the reason for the delay in scheduling was a flat out lie!! First they said that they were waiting for referral, then it was waiting for my insurance, then it was waiting for scheduler to return from being out of the office and then that their office wasn't under my BCBS coverage and then that my PCP referred me to another office. I confirmed with BCBS and with PCP that was also a flat out lie. Thank God, I am not entrusting them with my life if they can't handle paperwork, scheduling and communication correctly. Stay away as I have read others having the same issue. BIG WASTE OF TIME, but rather entrust another office that has an efficient staff. Lord knows what else happens in that office (well I do and it ain't pretty). read more

That this place is still in business is a testament to the almost CRIMINAL lack of supervision by the AZ. STATE BOARD OF MEDICAL EXAMINERS!!! Plan on spending most of a day here for a routine colonoscopy! The operative mode of the staff is AVOIDANCE! The doc's are chronically 'Late to Never'. Hence they are ALWAYS Behind, Rushed and Impatient. Other professionals are well aware of this outfit's shortcomings and won't be at all surprised when you tell them of your terrible experience here! We had to go here for a Fibroscan of the liver (they are conducting research on Fatty Liver Disease) the procedure was quick and the gals were very informative. They explained the results and the entire study. They were sensitive to our concerns. Best colonoscopy experience I've ever had. The consultation with Dr. Peterson was highly informative and he provided clear to understand answers. Dr. Moussa performed the procedure and it went so smoothly. He is exceptionally knowledgeable and stays up to date on the latest research. In fact, he participates in research studies. The prep is so easy- just swallow pills and drink water. Do the fatty liver scan, too, because you'll find out sooner rather than later if you need to make corrective action. read more

I cannot recommend Adobe Gastroenterology. In 2017; A) Their cheap wrist blood pressure monitor is a cheap joke, giving unfavorable readings on multiple visits, which do not align with all other readings I regularly receive elsewhere. B) I was lied to about time frames. I had to reschedule my consultation and was double-billed by their office - even after I complained about this deception to the site doctor. C) I received no compassion, no alternatives, nor financial adjustment when, later on in the year, I had to cancel my procedure due to a family emergency. These three circumstances give me the impression that Adobe Gastroenterology is far more interested in my wallet than my health. read more

This has to be the worst practice ever! Avoid this place! I will not be returning. When I first consulted Dr. Peterson he recommended I have an endoscopy. Dr. Peterson does not do procedures because he had a stroke. The day I was there one of the other docs had been in an accident and they were unsure when he would be able to work again and what the schedule for procedures would be. I was told they would call me to set up an appointment. I explained that I was leaving on a month-long vacation three weeks after that and was assured they would be able get me in before then and that I would be put on the cancellation list. Needless to say, that didn't happen. When I got back in town I called to schedule and was told that I would have to come in to see Dr. Peterson again because too much time had elapsed since the initial appointment. Not my fault! So it took another three weeks to get in to see him. He barely glanced at the extensive diary I had kept of what I had eaten and the problems I had had. He spent about 5 min with me and again told me to schedule an endoscopy. The first available appointment was just a couple days shy of a month away. I again asked to be put on the cancellation list but I never received a call. Finally, 3.5 months after Dr. Peterson first recommended the endoscopy it was performed by Dr. Swarpoo whom I liked very much. He said that the endoscopy didn't find anything but theorized that I have IBS and gave me samples of a medication to try saying it would probably take 2 weeks to kick in. He gave me 2 weeks worth of pills. When I got home I realized there wasn't a follow up plan so I called to make an appointment and was told that it could not be scheduled for another month. I explained that I only had enough medication to last 2 weeks and was told that they don't do emergency appointments. The scheduler was extremely rude and unwilling to listen to my story or try to find a way to help me. Additionally, I echo the comment of another reviewer who showed up on time for an early morning appointment. I got there at 8:00 for an 8:15 appointment and had to wait 45 min. And the day I was there for the endoscopy at 9:00 an assistant came out and announced that Dr. Moussa was already running an hour late. read more

I recently came to Adobe Gastroenterology to take part in a study on eosinophilic esophagitis. The good news was that I was too healthy to stay in the program. The bad news was that I was still suffering from the symptoms of EoE. Dr. Moussa met with me and told me he could work on fixing the symptoms of my condition. I scheduled another endoscopy and Dr. Moussa was able to perform a dilation of my esophagus to correct the narrowing that has occurred. I found the staff to be very well organized with an eye on patient care. Dr. Moussa was exceptional in answering my questions and concerns with the procedure while also offering suggestions to improve the future recovery from EoE. I highly recommend Dr. Moussa and his staff and am quite pleased with the attention to detail and service offered. read more

Dr. Moussa was very selective of seeing new referrals and initially refused my son, but one of his partners was willing to see him. Turns out that partner was great, but physically unable to perform procedures due to a physical limitations, so Dr. Moussa ended up doing the procedure anyway. He was great. HOWEVER, when we later needed to get copies of medical records, it was a nightmare. No one answered the phones, left multiple messages that were never returns, our allergist sent multiple faxes, voicemails and emails requesting records. The delay prevented my son from getting insurance approval for 2 MONTHS for a medication he needed to treat his condition. I went to the office personally twice and found the doors locked. On third attempt, they were still locked up, but when I called to leave yet another voice message, someone answered and finally got the records for me. Their recorded message states that their referral wait time is 8 weeks...don't waste your time! read more

I had a very unpleasant experience at Adobe Gastro when I went in for a procedure last month. My procedure was scheduled at 9 am (8:30 am arrival). I was prepped and left waiting on a bed by approx. 8:45 am. I waited without any communication from the staff until about about 9:30 am when I saw and heard one of the nurses (through the curtain opening) ask another nurse whether or not Moussa was in yet. The response was simply "No." I waited another 5 or so minutes until I saw another nurse walk by and called out to her to ask if Dr. Moussa was there. She responded that he would be there soon, no further explanation given. So all I could do was keep waiting. At about 9:55 am, I was finally wheeled into the procedure room without any apology or explanation for the delay. When I woke from the procedure, I was offered juice and told I could use the restroom and could get dressed. I was instructed to sit in the waiting area as Dr. Moussa wanted to talk to me. Shortly after, Dr. Moussa appeared and started by telling me that he had sent a letter to me a year ago (after my colonoscopy) informing me that the biopsy result suggested that I had infectious colitis. I was surprised by that and said that I didn't remember him doing a biopsy when I had my colonoscopy procedure done and he immediately raised his voice and accused me of calling him a liar. Aside from being very loud, he was obnoxious and rude and completely blew things out of proportion. I was stunned by his reaction and quickly tried to assure him that I was not calling him a liar but just didn't recall him doing a biopsy and that the results showed I had infectious colitis (Remember that I had just gotten out of a procedure and had been sedated so was probably not thinking very clearly, not to mention that I'm getting older and my memory isn't as sharp as it used to be). Dr. Moussa said that he could show me the letter if I wanted to see it so I said sure, after which he abruptly got up and disappeared, I assumed expecting me to follow. I found him sitting at his computer looking at my file. Once again, he accused me of calling him a liar and said if I didn't believe him I could get a second opinion. I repeated calmly that I was not calling him a liar but had just not remembered seeing anything about a biopsy or that the diagnosis was that I had infectious colitis. He finally calmed down a bit after that but by that time I was already pretty upset by the situation. I cannot believe how I was treated! Although I didn't see anyone else witness this, I'm sure others must have overheard the exchange as Dr. Moussa was anything but subtle. The sad thing is that the consultation visit I had with Dr. Moussa 3 weeks prior to that was actually a pretty good one - he took his time to discuss my problems with me and even offered some advice regarding dietary changes to help with fatty liver disease. I have decided that I will indeed go to another doctor after the negative experience I encountered. I did contact the office manager to let her know about my negative experience and she responded within a couple hours with an apology, telling me she had spoken to both Dr. Moussa and the staff about this incident, so hopefully other patients of his will not be subjected to this type of treatment. read more

A visit to the dentist... UGH. Worse yet, a colonoscopy, right! NOT if you are a patient at Adobe Gastroenterology. Here, the procedure is non-stressful...actually quite pleasant. It's a welcome bit of down time. And because we know having a colonoscopy every 5 - 10 years is a means to avoid colon cancer, why take the risk? From personal experience, you will be in good hands with the fine physicians at Adobe Gastroenterology. (To be fair, I also enjoy my regular visits to Adobe Dentistry and Tucson Dental Implants & Periodontics.) read more

This practice triple books appointments for the same time slot. Better bring a good book. I showed up at my appointed time 8:20 and found out there were two patients ahead of me. The office opens at 8:00. After well over an hour and no emergency under way, according to the staff, I informed the desk that I was leaving. The young lady at the desk said I could be charged 50 dollars for leaving. Their policy is to charge for no shows or same day cancellations. I showed up for my appointment. My doctor didn't. read more

This is the second time I have gone in to Dr. Douglas Peterson at Adobe Gastroenterology. The first time was about 10 1/2 years ago. This appointment was for a routine preventative Colonoscopy. My whole experience at this visit was excellent. Dr Peterson and all the staff that helped me were all very professional, friendly, and caring. I was also amazed at how the whole process was so smooth (from check-in to check-out). The whole process took about 50 minutes, and I left feeling very good. While the prep work for a colonoscopy at home is the hardest part, the whole appointment visit to Adobe Gastro was great ! I would very much recommend Dr. Peterson and the Staff at Adobe Gastro. read more

I had a colonoscopy today at Adobe Gastroenterology. While my doctor, Dr. Kisso, was fine and the procedure itself went well. I am rating it 2 for 2 reasons: 1) I was surprised that no one on the staff asked how the prep had gone. The only question regarding the prep was what color my last stool was. Since the insert on the prep says over 90% of people experience discomfort, about a third experience nausea, and about 8% throw up from the medication, wouldn't it be good to inquire from each patient how the prep went? This omission is indicative of a business-like, cordial, but assembly like atmosphere. Not my ideal. 2) The woman who started my IV stuck me two times. The first time she tried to start an IV in my hand, it was quite painful. She said she hit a valve, and asked me if I took blood thinner because I was bleeding more than she expected, I imagine. The second time she stuck me, a bit higher on the same arm, it was almost excruciating for about 15 seconds, so much so that I exclaimed,"Ow" three times and "Geez!" I am no weeny when it comes to pain--I've delivered two of our children without any medication whatsoever.) I immediately broke out in a cold sweat and felt very faint. I asked to have the bed lowered, but she took about a minute to do so. It took several minutes for my body to recover its equilibrium. I've had at least ten IV's put in during my life, and this experience was by far my worst. I won't go back here. read more

I saw Doctor Peterson a month ago. This was after almost 3 months of constant severe stomach pains and vomiting almost everyday several times a day. I had to wait almost 8 weeks for the appointment and he was actually the second GI doc I had seen recently because the first GI doc I went to had the same attitude. It must be a Tucson thing. He came in the room with an attitude talking as he was walking in as if we were already having a conversation, looking agitated with me, and asking me why I was there. I started to tell him my symptoms and of course he interrupted me right away and started telling me, similar to Dr. Dodman a GI doc in Tucson, that I'm too young to have a problem. And then when I tried telling him it's bad and I can't get relief so that's why I'm going to a second doctor he proceeded to tell me he didn't understand what I expected of him. "You're already taking omeprazole for months, that's all we would do for you in this situation. Nothing else. There's nothing wrong with you that's serious." So I told him I would like to do imaging CT as the previous GI did an endoscopy and told me gastritis but that it was mild and didn't understand how I could be in any kind of pain. So he told me he agreed with the previous assessment of that GI Doc (even though he had just started looking at the results a few seconds before) and just stared at me. Again I told him, I'm in constant pain, I have something really wrong and I need to know what it is and what to do about it. He lectured me some more about how much I don't know about GI issues and medicine to try to convince me it's my fault and I'm faking it I guess, but I insisted on the CT scan. He turned around and wrote out an order for the CT scan. He also wrote scripts for Dexilant which of course isn't covered by my insurance Cigna, and later I found out the CT scan was also denied by insurance. I followed up with him several times with his staff talking to them directly and leaving messages to ask what other tests could be done, or if he could reply to the insurance company's denial which they receive and see if he could explain to them it's necessary. I don't know, he obviously doesn't care because of his attitude in the appointment and the complete indifference in following up with me, and like I stated after waiting two months for an appointment with Peterson, the GI Doctor God of the Tucson Area. I think he's just a jerk that doesn't care, and is comfortable enough in his career progression as a doctor and his earnings at this point that it's nothing to him to not follow up with a sick patient because he's well enough off and just doesn't care. There's lots of doctors out there and GI in the Tucson Area and even better in Phoenix, do yourself a favor and stay away from Peterson and Adobe Gastroenterology. read more

My husband had a colonoscopy scheduled but the front desk forgot to order the prep. I called the office immediately but it was closed and there was no emergency number or service to contact. I called the office first thing in the morning and they said I would still be charged the $100 cancellation fee. Also, I would not see Dr. Howard Hack as he has medical legal cases against him. read more

Can I give less than one star? Dr. Peterson and his staff are the antitheses of good patient care. It is like a puppy mill only they are churning patients through. Family is not allowed to be part of the process (talking about colonoscopy) and how do they expect a patient who received sedation to remember anything? After 6 months and multiple phone calls we still do not have the results of my husbands exam. Next thing we see is a bill threatening to send us to collections and it was several months past the service date and the first contact from the office we have ever received!!! They never asked for it the day of his pre-procedure exam when it was charged, nor did they ask when he came for his procedure. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT SUBSTANDARD TREATMENT read more

We have been patients of Dr. Moussa for many years. He has performed numerous procedures on us and we are very pleased with his service. During the procedure, the patient is sedated and comfortable. Their privacy and dignity are well protected. The patient is treated with respect and compassion. At the end of every session we've ever had, Dr. Moussa invites a spouse or family member to join the patient to discuss the findings and any treatment in detail. We like the fact that we don't have to wait for results (unless there was a biopsy) and treatment can begin immediately. We have always been handed the results along with photographs and treatment instructions before we leave. Every procedure we have undergone was warranted and medically sound. We've never felt like the office was pushing a procedure on us for financial gain. The billing is fair and is exactly in line with my medical insurance's policy. We will continue to use Dr. Moussa and Adobe Gastro in the future. read more

I am a patient of Dr. Moussa's. Dr. Moussa and his staff at Adobe Gastro are terrific. They are compassionate, empathetic and top rate professionals. During my first procedure I was extremely anxious (translation: scared to death). The staff was very understanding and reassuring. Thanks to modern medicine I didn't feel a thing. During my follow up visit Dr. Moussa diagnosed me as having Barrett's esophagus. Knowing how serious Barrett's is I was understandably shaken. Dr. Moussa took the time to explain my treatment options and actually cheered me up when he commented that he thought I was the luckiest person around since we caught it before it became full blown cancer. At this point I've had 4 procedures performed by Dr. Moussa. I am no longer anxious when I have a procedure and I have 100% confidence in Dr. Moussa and his nursing staff. Many times you will encounter experts in their field that are arrogant and brash. Dr. Moussa is an expert in his field and he is kind and empathetic. Everyday I am grateful that he is the physician treating me for this condition. read more
