Need to come on here and give this place its flowers. First off, I like to come during twilight hours. I come here for its kick back layout and to help me really get comfortable with this game. Ladies in the club house are great and never rude. Never had the Marshal ever rush me, she's always looking out for all the players and possibly moving you to give you best experience. Been playing here this past year and most recently really appreciate the conditions of the fairways and greens! Although the greens could use a trim, I believe they are conditioning them and can't wait for the outcome. Still have the dirt areas but hay, it adds to the course management! I've been to Desert Aire Golf Course four times, and unfortunately, my most recent experiences have made me not want to return. I'm a beginner, so I understand the rules of golf and the importance of pace of play. We always make an effort to keep moving, and if there are groups behind us, we are more than willing to let them play through. On my third visit, I was with my partner and my family members, who are older and naturally move a little slower. The marshal woman constantly watched us and repeatedly stopped to harass us over small things, even though there was no one behind us. I let it go because I was there to enjoy time with my family. On my fourth visit, my partner and I went alone, and the same marshal woman was watching us again. Around the fifth hole, my partner was getting ready to tee off while I sat in the cart for about TWO minutes taking a few sips of my coffee. There were no groups behind us for at least three holes. She came over and told us we needed to keep moving and that I could not sit in the cart drinking my coffee. I explained that my partner was already getting ready to tee off and that we were not holding anyone up. Even after asking her to please leave us alone, she kept arguing. I have no problem with the rules being enforced, but being constantly watched and approached over every little thing made us feel singled out and harassed. We were respectful, followed the pace-of-play expectations, and were not delaying anyone. As a beginner, I want to be able to enjoy the course and practice without feeling like I'm being watched the entire time. After four visits, unfortunately, the way we were treated has made me decide not to return to Desert Aire. read more

Got my favorite seat, with my favorite golfer today. This course has been a long time visit for my hubby. I come out more often lately to keep score and obviously add to his entertainment and golfing value, lol. This course has quickly become my favorite to visit. The staff is so friendly, happy, and accommodating. This is not just a community here, I feel it's more. I love the shade, the layout, the peaceful drive. My husband and I went to play 9 holes this morning. We arrived early and were waiting at the first hole before our tee time. There was a group of men in front of us who were also waiting to start the turn for their 18 holes. We sat and patiently waited 20 minutes only to have the marshal come up and tell us that we each needed our own set of clubs. She did not even ask us our tee time or anything just came up and started trying to enforce a ridiculous rule, and when we asked if it was about pace of play because we would be a lot quicker than all the other people taking their sweet time, she said no it's just a rule. There was no acknowledgment about how far behind they were on tee times. Then she proceeded to say that we needed to let the foursome behind us making their second half turn go ahead of us, making our scheduled tee time closer to 40 minutes late. When we went to speak to the owner she apologized and said she did notice us there waiting and clearly saw that we only had one bag. She said we should have went in front of the group waiting ahead of us starting their second half, but how were we to know that's what they were doing? It's not our job to ask, clearly they were behind on everything, and clearly her and the marshal were not on the same page. The marshal should have been there to check tee times and make sure everything is running smoothly. She also said everyone needs their own putter, and instead of just handing me a putter she was going to make us pay for a whole bag of clubs that I do not feel comfortable using. We have played other much nicer courses where two bags is the rule, but they made an exception as long as we kept the pace, which we always do. It seems like the marshal is worrying about the wrong stuff and should be focusing on having people start on their scheduled tee times. I do not think I am above the rules, but to only focus on our one bag and not all the other people intruding on the scheduled time that we paid for is ridiculous. read more

I absolutely love this place... I picked up the game about 2 years ago and this was the first place I started at. Being so convenient right up the street from my house where else can you get a driving range and golf for such a great value. The chipping and putting area is not half bad too. They have sweet deals throughout the week I recommend that you sign up for the newsletter so that you're in on what's going on. I recently started to taking my 13yr old son and 8yr old daughter with me and they have a great Saturday clinic for kids (they have been loving it) and adults that's run by two great guys (John and Tony). They are passionate about the game and are very patient teachers. If you are a beginner or a seasoned player and are looking for a nice place to play 9 holes or freshen up your game this is the place for you. read more

Great course, great staff. I like this course because it is longer than its sister course, Rancho Sierra. At Rancho, for 6 out of 9 holes I use a driver and pitching wedge. At Desert Aire, I need a driver, 5 or 6 iron then a pitching wedge. Love the challenge. I play Rancho a lot so when I get a chance to play Desert its a treat. read more

I come here because it's very close to my house, it really has grown on me! You can play til dark after 4 walking for 7 bucks! Beat that!!! I always walk no.need for a cart here no elevated tees no water but the place has character! Its fun no attitude I show up in shorts and sandals and am greeted with a smile! LOVE it! Really fun 9 hole budget course. The blue and white tees are so similar which stinks because if you want to do 18 there is really no way to make the second round any different from the first. But for the price it's a decent course. Completely flat with lots of trees separating the different holes. Bunkers are in bad shape and pretty much like hitting off of dirt instead of sand. Greens are slow and smooth. If you're a beginner and/or just not trying to spend a lot of money on a round of golf this is the course for you. read more

For a modest and affordable course--100% great!!!! I live in the San Gabriel valley but am always looking for new and interesting golf adventures...so I took the highly scenic mountain route to Palmdale and played 18 holes here. Barbara was as polite and gracious as she could be! Very tough job being a starter, worse than herding cats, so everyone cut her a bit of slack...lovely lady! Free small bucket of warm up balls is nice, and the "adequate" practice range is greatly enhanced by the best and fuzziest mats I've ever hit off of... Paid 36 bucks for 18 holes and a golf cart---fun, fun, fun. Great practice for the 3wood or 5wood off the tee. Hit it straight and your good to go. Enough grass to hit high wedges onto the greens, and all the greens rolled "true". About 4 hours to play 18 holes, and played with 2 very friendly locals on this straightforward desert track--gotta loft the ball over Joshua trees at least twice! Some people may consider the conditions not so "manicured." Well, if you don't like your score...than just get better at golf! Stay more focused and choose the right club. Like everywhere, too many here hit driver from the back tees, when they seem to be high handicap golfers....so they zigzag around on an epic golf ball hunt. Try hitting 5 wood from the white tees and your score will be lower, and you will have more fun. Overall, fun and adventurous, tad scruffy desert course...plenty of wind and never got above 50 degrees F. Very clean and well-organized facilities, a well-run place overall, super friendly staff. The course is good but the staff not so. Barbara is the worst. No ability to interact with customer at all and incredibly snobbish. She makes up rules and interprets policy at will like she owns the course. You'd think you were at the Bel aire country clulb instead of nowhere USA. Avoid this crusty Wal-Mart greeter at all cost. Also there is a little kid that puts the karts away, that drives like its the demolition derby. Watch you toes! In the end go to rancho vista or valencia if you can. If you dont have a choice go here but tune out that crazy weirdo. read more

Desert Aire Golf Course is too literal an interpretation of a golf course located in the desert. You aren't teeing off aimed at the green, you are aiming for anything that isn't brown. If you play here expect to be chipping your ball off solid ground, that is, if you can even find it amidst all the tumbleweeds and overgrown shrubbery. That being said, I give Desert Aire 4 stars. Yes, the golf course is bad. Yes, you lose at least one ball each trip. However, the staff is extremely friendly, the terrain is a challenge, and -oh yeah- it's cheap! This is one place where even Tiger Woods would look like a jackass. I want to see him hit his ball off an overgrown tree root. Desert Aire has character. If you want a nice, well groomed, typical golf course go to Cascades about a 15 minute drive west. If you want a golf course that's a real challenge, makes for some great laughs, and won't burn a hole in your pocket then Eagle your way on over to Desert Aire! Wow, that last line was so corny. I wish I could put a zero. Worst golf course that I've ever been to. The lady that checked us in (Barbara) saw that we only had one golf bag for my boyfriend and I, let us pay, and then stopped us in the MIDDLE of the first hole to tell us we had to get off the course. Not only did she leave the store unattended to pretend like she's court marshal, but she waited until after we started playing to tell us that we had to pay even more if we wanted to continue. Now I understand, it is a rule at most golf courses. But I'm a beginner, and I don't want to buy a bag until I play more frequently. With that being said, we have played at several courses, all of them alot nicer than Desert Aire, and they've never gone out of their way to ruin our game. To sum it all up, she says there are no refunds (only rain checks). I am never going back there in my life, and I'm going to spread the word about their terrible service. Needless to say, I am very upset about this and I will never do business with them again. Go to Rancho Vista or even Sierra Madre (if you want a cheapy), but never come here!! read more

Decent golf course with reasonable prices. Each hole has a looooong fairway, so I highly suggest renting a golf cart. Most of the greens are maintained, with half being sandy/dusty. The staff is pleasant and friendly. A marshal drives around to make sure golfers aren't holding back other golfers. read more

I go here all the time & I Love it Chris is the Best. She's always Super nice. I can see why people aren't feeling Barb she is different from Chris. Danny is cool and the Other 2 Ladies are nice. The Groundskeeper is Awesome we Love that Guy. From clearing leaves to keeping the Greens so nice to pointing me to my errant Tee Shot they are lucky to have this Hardworking Guy. Friendly family golf course. It's challenging. It's being improved year around. They've removed several encroaching trees and removed the roots (Cottonwoods). It's reasonably priced. Great Saturday Skins game. Great owner (Chris) with an excellent Golf Store...House of Golf...down the street. You can walk or ride. Dress code is reasonable for the desert. Need shirt and shoes. Several men's and women's clubs. Tournaments are golf course sponsored. It has a driving range, putting green, and chipping green. Low cost group lessons on Saturday morning. Back room great for gatherings. We've held our rock club Christmas Party there for several years. After several times golfing there, you become family. I go alone a lot yet I never end up golfing by myself. They were so good to me when I first started golfing. The Marshall's are friendly and helpful. read more

So we played this course last week and took our two girls 5 & 2 we had a great time and everyone who saw us were happy to see us passing the game on to our girls we went to play today and were told that there is a state law that doesn't allow any children under the age of six to be on the course at all after searching the Internet we found nothing that backed this up and even called several of the other courses in the area non of them have heard of this law. Needless to say we will be teaching our kids at other courses from now on read more

I'm disappointed I can't put negative stars on here. I've been coming to this course for over ten years and always enjoyed playing here but during my last few trips here I've been encountering this vermin called Barbara. It seems like she always has a chip on her shoulder and after reading other reviews I've realized I'm not the only one she's treats like a subhuman, as if she is some goddess of the 9 hole golf course world. She's like a cancer and the course is a body, why would you not want to rid your body of a disease. I'm glad I have other options for golf, I only played here because I was too lazy to drive out to Edwards and play on the military golf course, but subpar and demeaning service is what I get for not wanting to drive a little further. read more

Played the course many times and always have a great time. You can practice your long shots on the driving range and your short shots and putting on the other practice areas. Great staff, family orientated. Have never been dissapointed on any of our visits. They also have a great golf store just down the road called House of Golf that is well worth a visit! read more

Desert Aire Golf course is a true gem. While it is technically a nine hole course, it is SCGA rated as 18 holes. You will have a great time walking or taking a cart.
