Although the greens could use a trim, I believe they are conditioning them and can't wait for the outcome. Still have the dirt areas but hay, it adds to the course management! I'm a beginner, so I understand the rules of golf and the importance of pace of play. We always make an effort to keep moving, and if there are groups behind us, we are more than willing to let them play through. On my third visit, I was with my partner and my family members, who are older and naturally move a little slower. The marshal woman constantly watched us and repeatedly stopped to harass us over small things, even though there was no one behind us. I let it go because I was there to enjoy time with my family. On my fourth visit, my partner and I went alone, and the same marshal woman was watching us again. Around the fifth hole, my partner was getting ready to tee off while I sat in the cart for about TWO minutes taking a few sips of my coffee. There were no groups behind us for at least three holes. She came over and told us we needed to keep moving and that I could not sit in the cart drinking my coffee. I explained that my partner was already getting ready to tee off and that we were not holding anyone up. Even after asking her to please leave us alone, she kept arguing. I have no problem with the rules being enforced, but being constantly watched and approached over every little thing made us feel singled out and harassed. We were respectful, followed the pace-of-play expectations, and were not delaying anyone. As a beginner, I want to be able to enjoy the course and practice without feeling like I'm being watched the entire time. After four visits, unfortunately, the way we were treated has made me decide not to return to Desert Aire.

I booked it thinking it would be more private or higher quality, but it's really just a slightly sectioned-off area in the same open room as all the other bays--only a few steps away. No real added privacy. Also, no A/C, so it got pretty hot inside, especially after swinging for a while. The biggest letdown was the Foresight system in the VIP bay. Compared to the regular three bays, it felt stripped down. It only displayed ball distances--no club or ball data, no spin numbers, nothing detailed. Definitely not worth the price difference in my opinion. Great people, decent facility overall, but skip the VIP bay. You'll get more value and info in the standard bays.

It can get quite busy during peak hours and especially in the summer. There is also an area to practice short pitch shots and a sand trap. A bucket of balls cost a bit more than the average range but the shot tracer is well worth it. The 18 hole course is a bit better than your typical muni course. Greens aren't in the best shape but they are decent for the cost of the round. There is also a proshop with all you need and more to play a round. I highly recommend Alhambra Golf course!
