Came here with some friends to just see what it was all about, I guess they do horse race betting from San Anita, u can bet digitally, they have a snack bar with pretty darn good food, friendly staff and couple beers on draft, overall a good experience, but could be boring if it's not your cup of tea.

A beautiful way to spend the Memorial Day weekend. Perfect weather and temps. My handicapping not…read moreso good today... but with views of the San Gabriel mountains who cares. I was actually surprised at the size of the crowd Monday, very well attended. For those new to Santa Anita go to the Frontrunner for a restaurant experience overlooking the stretch run. Serious horse players go to the "Room" - it's next to the Chandelier room. Used to be called the Sports Book but now it's just unnamed. The clubhouse side has outdoors table seating just past the finish line. Plenty of bars and food venues throughout for those so like to walk around and visit the paddock and walking ring. Check it out!

The family went to Santa Anita Race Track for something different and fun to do. We got two, four…read moreperson boxes to enjoy the day. That made it fun because we could be together, watch the races on the TV screens in the box and even order food and have it delivered to the box. The food was okay, nothing super special. My husband ordered a cheeseburger and said it was dry, overcooked and not much dressing. I had a buffalo chicken wrap, it okay, and my daughter got the children's meal chicken tenders - which was a very generous portion. Best of all was the french fries - they were delicious. Prices were high of course. One example is one pitcher of water was $7!! That's plain old tap water and we couldn't get any refills either. Crazy! We also enjoyed walking around the grounds and looking at the horses. They had some beautiful Clydesdales you could pet. There are a few retired race horses you could see and take pictures of / in front of but they bite so you couldn't get too close. The grounds also have lovely flowers all around, beautiful horse statues and a lovely fountain so it is very picturesque.

Yes, I want to go to the Weiner races! I have never been to this race course and I had no idea…read morewhat to expect. It was crazy busy when we arrived and the lines of cars to get into the parking lot were long. So we parked a block away in the residential area and walked in. It cost $3 to enter. But, all the proceeds went to the Seal Beach Animal Shelter. We quickly purchased our tickets, but it was insane to see that multiple lines of people were then forced to use one single person escalator to get inside. By the time we got inside, floor level standing room only was available. We were happy to find some chairs and took a seat. To get the crowd going, Weinersnitzel t-shirts, stuffed animals, and hats were thrown into the crowd. The weiner races alternated with horse races. The dogs were beyond adorable and it was fun to watch even though it was tough to see at times. I didn't stay for all 15 heats which ended at 9:30 pm. The lines for food and alcohol were super long. Next time, I'll prepare better. I would bring food, drinks, and chairs for ground level seating. Wear a hat and bring sunscreen. A sign posted said no food or drinks. There was no one checking and I walked in with my Yeti without being stopped. Overall, I found the event to be adorable. However, the. Venue itself was a bit outdated with no organization.

As you enter you can purchase a program. You can purchase snack foods and drinks inside. Free parking is a plus. I especially love that it's family friendly. I also really enjoy the Paddock -- the area where racehorses are brought out and walked around before the race. This is usually the best place to see the horses up close and watch them get ready. You can do this on the first floor toward the far left.
