My girlfriend and I were in town for the weekend. We had just landed and settled into our hotel, and we were now ready to have a nice dinner. We were recommended Desco by the staff at the hotel, so we took an uber ride over to this fine restaurant.
This restaurant is located in a commercial park, next to a shopping mall, and a hotel. We walked in, and it was moderately busy. We were shown to our table, and I mentioned to them that we could communicate in English or Spanish, but not Italian. Fortunately, they had one staff member who spoke Spanish, so we were good to go.
To start of, we ordered the tagliere di salumi e formaggi. This is basically a dish of cold cut meat and cheese. It turned out to be as delicious as we imagined, and we saved some room for the main dish.
Our main dish was costata minimo 800 gr. This is basically beef steak, in a portion big enough for two. The meat was tender and juicy, and very tasty. While my girlfriend favored a medium-well steak, I tend to lean toward rare steak. The cook was able to accomodate both of us, on the same steak. Amazing.
We also ordered some red wine, which we sipped on the entire time. This made way for great conversation, which lasted the whole two hours we were here.
Once we were done, I asked for the check. I paid via card, and I was surprised to learn that tipping is not expected in Italy.
The experience here was overall amazing. Despite the language barrier at first, we were able to enjoy an great experience here.
I recommend Desco. If you find yourself in Rome, give this place a shot. read more
