I visited Derryl's today with a family member and just wanted to take in all the things, but she shared with Jamie that I had a question in which Jamie then bombarded me. What made me feel EXTREMELY uncomfortable was when that worker stood next to me and stared while I frustratingly tried to find something in my purse for several minutes. I even voiced that I needed a minute in hopes he would let me collect my thoughts and sewing part, but no...just so rude and overbearing. I probably will not be back. I am frustrated with this company. I took my older Bernina in for service last year. Took months and when I finally got it back was told the mother board needed to be replaced so they gave me the old one back, I paid and left. Took it home and it would not work. Took it back. After another service charge I was told the insides needed to be lubricated. So , you took the whole machine apart, put it back together without any lubricant then charged me to take it apart again to lube it. Say what? On top of that the sewing was intermittent. Sometimes when I turned it on, it would sew, sometimes it would not. Now it does not sew at all. Won't be taking it back to this store for service. Susan is quite rude and the service person is just as bad. I wish there was another Bernina dealer close by. read more

They are very condescending about working on sewing machines. If you don't have a machine worth thousands of dollars they don't even want to look at it. They do quality work, when they decide your normal priced machine is worth looking at, but the attitude leaves a lot to be desired. read more

I brought my sewing machine in to have the tensions fixed, expecting to have to leave it and come back for it. They completed the repairs right away. Everyone was so sweet, helping me get the machine to the back of the shop then returned to my car. This store is clean, well lit, airy, and beautifully laid out. They sell gorgeous fabrics and are a quilter's dream. They have lots of fun "stuff", and I will go back just to browse. read more

Brought my machine in for maintenance last week for tension issues. Without asking any questions about my experience or the machine, James gave me a speech about how "Notoriously difficult it is to sew on knits." I would not claim to be an expert, but I sew on knits almost everyday. He just assumed my ignorance and didn't even note my concerns on the paperwork. The issue was not fixed when I got it home. I called and James was very condescending and rude on the phone and then hung up on me. I brought my machine back for him to look at again, and he told me that my complete lack of tension "Was actually perfect tension," which is a lie. He did not offer to fix the issue. He didn't apologize for the inconvenience. He didn't apologize for lying or his condescending, rude, assumptive attitude. Would not recommend to anyone and am seriously disappointed. read more

The 3 stars is based on a former visit, not today. I took my admittedly very old machine to Derrell's several years ago when they were still in the old location. They did a general tune up and maintenance, and it worked fine. I was happy. I have little patience for sewing, but keep my machine for general mending. Sat down the other day to do some mending and the thread repeatedly kept breaking. A few choice words later, I loaded it in the car and eventually headed to Derrell's. It was time for a tune up anyway. A young man came to the front, looked at it for 10 seconds and informed me my thread was old and the needle was backwards. I was skeptical that the thread was that bad, but maybe so. If this was MY business, I would have replaced the thread, turned the needle around and done a quick test just to ensure there really was nothing else wrong. Instead, he just kept insisting my thread was old and the needle backwards. I had the impression my business was not wanted. So I took my machine and left. I don't want something for nothing, and I don't think sewing machine repair is a place people try to take advantage of. The worst that could have happened is that he lost a few minutes of time, and I left happy and glad to leave a good review. The best that could happen is that it actually did need repair and they could make some money off of me. Now I don't even want to go back, whether anything is wrong or not. read more

I am just learning to sew and was given a sewing machine. When I contacted Derrel's they just ignored me and absolutely refused to help. I know nothing about fabric, needles, bobbins, etc. They didn't even tell me where I could go for any sewing classes! I will never recommend them to anyone. I will try to find things out on my own since no one will help. I am not even computer savvy. I am learning this too. If I were allowed to give a negative rating, I would!! read more

I called ahead of time to get an estimate of service cost for a 6 and 10 needle embroidery machine and the turnaround time. The man told me the estimate and said the turnaround would be between 1-1.5 hours and told me that I didn't need an appointment. I went the following day to take my machines. Upon arrival, I was told the cost to service the machines would be twice the phone estimate and the machines would take 7-10 working days to be completed. This was a gross overstatement of our phone conversation. Very misleading! This was my first and last time to visit this location. So disappointing. read more

I have had to bring in my machine a couple of times due to parts breaking. Pat really took good care of me in the service department. After realizing my machine was just so tired, Susan helped me find the serger of my dreams and for a great price. She is so helpful and accommodating. I did my research and she answered every question I had. read more

The new store is lovely, but the service area is beyond disappointing. No idea when I'll get my machine back -- it's been a month now. "No idea when the parts will be in" and worse, is that the attitude is that they could care less to try to find out. Could be another month. Who knows! Who cares! Well, maybe if you buy your machine from them, they are better, but you can bet I'll not bring my machine back here again, and I'm looking for someone else to repair it now. There aren't any other Babylock dealers close, but I'm ok driving now that I know what I'll get locally! read more
