When someone told me the burgers here were great and I saw one on their menu with Cooper Sharp, it was on like donkey Kong ... or just a fat hungry guy ‍ The Cooperstown Burger was a bacon cheeseburger with caramelized onions using cooper Sharp. It was served on a brioche roll and I added the pickles from the side to the burger. I opted to add fries and cole slaw to the plate (I believe that was a $4 upcharge). Dip was fine, probably out of a packet. Little did we know those burnt chips would be the only thing we would be eating for an hour with little to no refills. Seemed to be forgotten about with us being inside and I guess everyone else in the back. After an hour, our food came out. I got the brisket tacos, they were good. 8/10. My table got a chicken cheesesteak and ask for no mushrooms and ofc it came out with mushrooms... We had to get the wings, the wings were good! An hour wait good? No. 7/10. It took a weird amount of time for our last entree to come out and it was just like chicken tenders on a bun, no love. Oh and the pulled pork sandwich was more like slop. Incredible what you can find when you aren't looking…read more I stumbled upon a gem, with a good bit of history. On a layover in Scranton I was walking around hungry, but was unsure of where to go to fix that. So I do what I always do, walk aimlessly. Just a few steps away from the University of Scranton, Chef Von & Mom sits. I entered and was immediately greeted with warm smiles, and beautiful faces. Mom was present, and gave me a brief history lesson. She informed me her family actually established the first black owned restaurant in Scranton. At that point I had heard enough, the smells coming from the kitchen had already decided for me. I asked Mom whats a popular dish I would enjoy, she suggested the BBQ sandwich with the fries. The order came out very quickly and piping hot. The BBQ was juicy, and the fries were seasoned to perfection. I loved the toasted bun, it held the moisture of the coleslaw well without getting soggy. The BBQ sauce was a nice compliment to the overall sandwich, nothing else was needed, this was indeed a hit. I appreciate the incredible customer service, but I love that this family has continued an incredible tradition of bringing Scranton quality food with no exceptions. Pro tip: After I left I looked this place up, the owners Chef Von & Mom were on "Next Level Chef" with Gordon Ramsey. Check out their episode, it originally aired on FOX.

We are fully aware of that staffing will always be an issue, and things can happen. But, to put a post up an hour before opening on a holiday weekend, definitely put a hurt on us and now we have to scramble for other plans. A lot of places require reservations for parties of 6+ people and they are already taken. Very disappointing with so many people visiting and us wanting to show them a local good time.

The dining room is more comfortable than a typical pizza place with a family warmth. Our crew ordered chicken soup, burgers, pizza and a sub to go for out basketball player. We selected their "Old Forge" style pizza- iconic to the region. It didn't disappoint. The crust was light & crispy, the sauce in the sweet side and the blend of cheeses (including American cheese which is the hallmark, I'm told, of the style). It was delicious. I am a pizza 'freak'. I've enjoyed pizza from iconic restaurants in Naples, Rome, Chicago, New York, California, Detroit and now...Scranton! The burger people praised their 8oz. Burgers.
