We are new to bend and having just bought a home, we were excited to give it a new paint job and bring it into this century! Additionally we wanted to refinish our old oak cabinetry with a new whit finish. We interviewed a lot of painters and even hired someone different initially.(before meeting James) Luckily the Guy we hired turned out to be totally irresponsible and just decided to not do the job after contract signed and paid 50% because "he wasn't feeling the vibe...?" Anyhow that was a blessing in disguise. The first time we met James we felt very comfortable with him. He was VERY thorough in walking the house... taking notes... giving his thoughts. I liked him so much I cancelled the other quotes I had scheduled and told him immediately that I wanted to work with him if we could keep within our budget. He ended up giving me a quote on the spot and we scheduled our service immediately. He's a busy guy so we had to wait a few weeks, but as the saying goes... "the best things come to those whom wait." He arrived on time every day with his partner Jeremy. The two of them worked super hard and even accommodated some changes on the fly. I could not be happier with the work they did, and not only would I hire them again but I consider both guys friends after having them in my home for a couple weeks. I'm looking forward to having them back to do our exterior in the spring! Oh, one more thing... while James was painting our ceiling he noticed a slight bulge in one area that I never would have noticed. WOW!!! Is all I can say. Actually beyond WOW!!! I was looking for a painter for an interior project I was doing and found James on yelp. He was the first painter to call me back. Actually call me back. That is huge in my book. I saw great reviews on him and his company and enjoyed our first conversation on the phone. He came out to inspect the project and was very fair on the price. We scheduled to have him and his crew come out within days of the inspection. They both showed up right on time and started preping everything. They sanded off some old texture I had and did an entire repaint of the room - everything done within 3 days. I had new carpet tile installed before I hired James. James and his crew masked every square centimeter of the floor. Not one drop of paint or mud was left on the carpet. Fantastic work guys - You guys went way beyond what I expected. They were polite, easy to work with, very informed and totally rocked that job out in record time. I can't say how happy I am right now!!! We were hung up trying to find a painter so we were super pleased he was able to come out within a few days of the bid. I would recommend DeRock Painting without hesitation! They painted the entire exterior of our home in the Broken Top neighborhood prior to putting it on the market and I couldn't be happier with the service or the result. James always responded to my calls right away, his estimate was very competitive, he worked in a timely manner, and walked me through the whole job after finishing to make sure that I had no questions or concerns. The attention to detail was astonishing. Every area that may have been splashed was covered and taped, they kept the lines and angles clean and sharp, many areas that had been sun damaged were back-rolled after spraying, edges were painted by hand, and they even went through the trouble of removing outdoor speakers, screens, and some light fixtures prior to starting to protect those items. When they were done, the house looked brand new and they cleaned up everything and replaced any items that were removed. In Feb we hired another painter in town. We'll call him "C". "C" gave us a quote, we hired him, got on his "Spring" list, told we would be third in line and never heard from him again despite text, email, FB attempts (hey dude, you know who you are). So then we're left at the height of painting season trying to get someone to be fair with us and the house painted before winter... good luck. Unfortunately Bend contractors (const/paint/plumb) are in the position to behave any way they want right now. CUT TO: calling James DeRock. Imagine our complete shock when not only did James call me right back, he gave us a really fair estimate the same day. Even more shocking is he ACTUALLY STARTED THE JOB the day he said he would. For the amount he said it would cost. In the exact amount of time he said it would take. And, get this people... he's a pleasure to be around. What a transformation! When my deck was built a few years ago, I asked the builders if they could stain it. The guy that stained my deck had no idea what he was doing. There was multiple layers of stain and it was sticky and it looked horrible. I finally decided to get it redone and I'm so happy I did! It took DeRock's Painting two whole days to sand it down and 5 different grades of sand paper. They said they never seen a deck with that much stain . They worked so hard to make it smooth and beautiful. I really appreciated how they kept me updated and answered my texts right away if I had any questions. Also, before they stained my deck, they did a tester spot to make sure I liked the color which was very comforting and I could tell they care about their customer's satisfaction! We were very impressed with DeRock's Painting. We wanted to paint four bedrooms prior to moving in to our new house. The catch was, we needed someone who was available the week before Christmas and who could do the job in 2 days (time between getting the keys and moving in). After asking at Sherwin Williams if they had a recommendation, I contacted DeRock's and James was our guy! He came on the evening we got our keys and provided us with a quote that gave us a few options, was easy to understand and a fair price for the work and materials. He hired DeRock's Painting this summer to paint the full exterior and decks of our home. We had had previous bids from larger companies in town for an large amount of money. When James came he was so fare with his price and surprised us on how much money we was able to save us. Threw out the whole process james helped us pick colors and figure out a theme that work great for our home. He used the highest grade materials and supplies to paint our house.
