APRIL 2022 We were driving home from Arizona and our 2006 Dodge Ram DIESEL 2500 was losing power when accelerating. luckily for us we were 12 minutes from BOISE IDAHO. My boyfriend and I had such a great experience with repairs at Deranged Diesel in August 2017. The prices were reasonable, the repairs were done within a few days, and the mechanic who worked with us not only was a down to earth guy but also went beyond expectations and went around town to find the right parts that we needed to fix the problems (A/C leak, brake chamber leak) in a way that would save time/money and actually fix the core problem. The mechanic we brought the truck to back home in CA didn't even find the A/C leak and would have just refilled it, resulting in a temporarily working A/C that would have eventually leaked everything out again. The CA mechanic would also have unnecessarily replaced the brake chamber instead of a simpler repair. If we had ended up doing the repairs at that CA shop, we would have paid significantly more to get unnecessary work on the brake chamber and not get the necessary work for our A/C. If Deranged Diesel were located in the SF bay area they would be my go to shop, hands down, zero hesitation! Hell, if I took a cross country trip, I'd be tempted to visit Boise just to get repairs or maintenance done here. Well, not just for that reason, there's also finally floating the Boise River and the omftasty bacon at BACON. But weirdly enough, those 3 points actually make a pretty damn compelling case for putting Boise on the cross country trip list. I was driving from Reno to Boise to drop my son off for college. If it's not stressful enough dropping your kid off for college, add vehicle problems on top of it. We were about 3 hours out of Boise and my 95 power stroke started dumping diesel from the fuel pump. Stressing if we were even going to make it or not as well as wondering if we were going to be able to find someone to repair it quickly to get back to Reno on Monday for work. Looking on yelp for a repair shop as we were diving and we were very lucky coming across Deranged diesel. I left my truck in his lot that night and came back the next morning when he opened to see that they were obviously very busy with all of the vehicles already in his shop to be repaired. I walked up to the desk to meet Steve to explain my situation with him and I could see in his face of how busy he was but with a big sigh he said "we'll take care of you". I was at his mercy for what ever he wanted to charge and I was expecting a big bill. Not only did Steve not gouge me when he could have, he went out of his way to get the fuel pump covered under warrantee since I just had it replaced just over a year ago and saved me a ton of money.
