Elote tasted like velveeta cheese and corn with a sprinkle of cheese. The chicken strips were undercooked. The server never came back so we had to track him down to leave. I have come to dread coming here. It is never consistent how you are to be seated. It says to wait but so many don't and seat themselves so you are left standing there. The manager in the Bill Cosby sweater is not friendly. The servers are often in some state of new so what happens and how much you get charged for drinks is often a surprise. I've never tasted such disgusting queso and it was unfortunately on the tots we ordered as an app and part of the chips and queso. It was grainy and thick and nothing that resembled either cheese or queso. Super expensive - like $25 for a burger. Would not go back and feel the location doesn't make up for the yucky food. Should've reviewed the Derailer a month ago when we were there. Who knew it'd be the last bar break from a day of snowboarding for the season?!?! Well, that said, sharing this review from my COVID pandemic, lockdown induced free time. This was our first time at Winter Park and after a fabulous day on the slopes, we found seats at an otherwise packed bar - for a party of four, this in and of itself was impressive. Like other Yelpers have commented about, the service was slow to start. It was pretty easy to see why, as the entire place was engulfed with skiers and boarders, all hungry and happily tired. Our bartender was keeping a quick pace and until we got slotted in, we understood the wait. No worries, when he did turn our way, we were each ready to go with food and drink orders. And from then, the service was great. Getting into the rotation was the slight glitch - if ya wanna even call it that. I ordered a Bloody Mary - spicy and practically inhaled it, it was so good. And no, I wasn't that parched, I had already had several glasses of water. Our party shared the green chili tots and left nothing on the plate. Pretty good for fast casual bar food. One of the places where you can chow down after or in between brakes from the slopes. It's located two flights of stairs up and the outside seating is popular (of course)! The inside fills up but empties out in waves. Service was pretty slow to start but if water is a star saver for this business it did the trick. Parched from a combo of falling and doing my version of the speed demon and being called reckless ; a pitcher of water with ice waiting at every table was such a great idea. While the service was slow to start the water kept me way far from being annoyed. Here's a big deal to me too. Once the service started it rolled and it rolled smoothly. We ordered several things. Cobb Salad, Mary Jane Club and an Egg Sandwich. $15,$15 & $12 respectively. Portions are definitely huge and will make you think it's ok to eat there. The Egg sandwich was a surprise to me. It's not the usual. It's actually I think a couple of fried eggs. With bacon of course as my choice. I loved the fries but the guys wanted something softer. I've had some great times at the Derailer, but today felt like things have derailed. I probably saw four to five people chilling behind the bar, chatting with other staff and playing on their phones. I sat for about 10-15 minutes waving my card and ID to get someone's attention (it wasn't very busy). There was one bartender that seemed to be taking care of everything else (bar patrons and drink orders for tables) and my waving didn't get his attention either. It'll probably be a fallback at best going forward (including just heading home), there are plenty of other great options at the base and on the hill. read more

After a morning of skiing, we stopped into derailer bar on property and we're looking to get some lunch and drinks! There was a line to get in so we waited, but what was interesting were some people were getting sat and others were given a wait time. When we finally got up the front of the line, we waited about 5 minutes for a hostess to come around. She told us we'd have to wait about 15-20 minutes. I noticed there were a ton of tables open so when I mentioned that she said we had to wait due to a kitchen issue. The waitress behind her waved her hand to us and told us we could just sit at her table it was no problem. So we ended up doing that. I went in, and I wanted a beer. I waited 10 minutes for anyone to even wait on me, at the corner of the bar. A curly, dark-haired bartender asked for my ID and I realized my boyfriend had it. The vegetarian food options here are abysmal. I once modified the chicken quesadillas to veggie and they were greasy and not good at all. When I caught a cold and opted out of skiing while my other half spent the day on the mountain, I hung out at the bar from lunch to happy hour time. Probably not the best for my cold, but I couldn't completely puss out! Service was accommodating from beginning to end. Even when they would hit peak times. Drinks were reasonable considering most of the bars there were pricey. Tried the Mary Jane Club - eh, the bar food on the mountain really isn't all that special. So what the hell did I do at the bar all day other than drink hot toddy's? The patio is large and the massive windows provide views of the moguls. Most of the day skiers were doing flips and tricks and falls and tumbles down the moguls. Entertaining to watch. And it was closely located to the Gemini lift and ski shop. read more

Busy spot at the bottom of the slopes but the food is good! If you're patient enough to snag a spot outside during good weather this is the perfect post ski hangout. My family and I stopped here for lunch SUPER hungry after skiing. We were immediately sat by a super friendly hostess and got bacon bloody Mary's (mmmmmmmm) and beer just seconds after we asked for them. The bar started to get super busy but the staff was amazingly attentive and checked on us. The food came quick too! Well, you're a resort bar, so clearly the food is always going to be more expensive than it needs to be. Boo. But, I get it. Your menu is short but sweet (thumbs up for the spicy frickles), you carry all the requisite tourist, ski-resort drinks ($2 beer happy hour specials; but your hot toddy? weak!), you've got plenty of outdoor seating, tons of tv's, and naturally a great view. Plus, a few years ago I spent the most hilarious morning here after an unfortunate too-small-ski-boot-had-to-buy-(orange)-crocs-for-the-day incident which also involved me drinking a countless number of bloodies at the bar waiting for my group. Good times, good times. Delicious bloodies, highly recommended. And it's not your fault that people can't read signs (particularly the "wait to be seated" and the "don't bring your own food in" ones), but you may want to step up the promptness of your service. They have a good beverage selection, including Mary Jane beer (YUM!), Belgian beers (fat tires, mothership wit and the like), and nice warm, alcoholic drinks. I loved their French Kiss (Hiram Walker Amaretto, Kahlua and Hot Chocolate), Nutty Irishman (Irish Cream, Hazelnut Liqueur, Seattle's Best coffee), and Sexual Chocolate (Hot Chocolate with Stoli Raspberry and whipped cream). There's nothing like a warm alcoholic drink after a long day of snowboarding. Their app list is pretty short/limited, but they serve the standard bar fare: chicken wings, nachos with baked beans (yummy, but extremely unhealthy), quesadillas, and mozzarella sticks. Don't expect anything healthy like salads or sandwiches here.. Derailer faces the slopes, so you can ppl - / slope-watch as you indulge and gorge. Alright, let's be honest, it's a bar in a ski resort, so I came here with an expectation for curt service and overpriced drinks, however, I was very pleasantly surprised. We decided to check this place out after a brief day of skiing and enjoyed a nice view of the mountains and crazy expert skiers. As for the drinks, my wife ordered the romchatta variant and the in-law ordered a similarly sweetened liquor. Both were reasonably priced and definitely strong enough to add an additional layer of warmth. We didn't try any of the food, but at least based on what we saw, the serving sizes were respectable.
