But is the company reputable? And do you really want to go with a relatively new company even if is owned by your buddy. He decided, no. Newman is competitive with hundreds of 5 star reviews. He went with Newman. Subsequently we had a hail storm and neighbors were advising us to get our roof checked out. Our roof was 20 years old. I wanted to be honest with the insurance company and not submit a claim unless Tyler from Newman,who came out to give us an estimate, was sure we needed a new roof and we suffered damage beyond normal wear and tear. Plus we had 2 houses. Well one needed a new roof and the other one likely has another couple of years left. As an aside, if you turn in a claim to your insurance company, even if it is denied, you risk higher premiums or cancelation. That is why it is important to have Newman Roofing spend time assessing. In our case, our roof was more wear and tear with minimal hail. Dan and his guys were on time, even early. Weather has consistently been in the mid 90's. I was worried. But Newman keeps them well supplied with hydration. 14 man crew meant lots of vehicles, even a dump truck but they were minimally disruptive to our neighbors. Furniture moved, netting put up to minimize construction mess on house and garden areas. And then they went to work. All I can say is WOW. I am so pleased. When they were finished, the cleaned up all the mess, including using a magnetized thing for nails in driveway, patio and grass. The yard, the patio, the driveway, the porches are SPOTLESS. I hired this company to install a gutter on my front porch for about $270. Shortly after…read moreinstallation, I noticed water was running behind the gutter instead of into it, which defeats the entire purpose of having gutters and could lead to damage over time. I contacted them to come back out, and they said the issue was due to a missing gutter apron. However, this was never mentioned or included in the original estimate, and now they are trying to charge additional money to fix a problem that should have been addressed during the initial install. Their own contract states the work would be completed in a workmanlike manner according to industry standards, yet the system as installed does not function properly. To their credit, they did come back out and mentioned offering a discounted solution--but I have not received any follow-up since then. At the end of the day, I paid for a working gutter system, and I don't think it's reasonable to be charged extra to correct an incomplete or improper installation. I would recommend getting very clear, detailed scope in writing before hiring.
