Ours dogs came back to us just wet and no shampoo smell on them. One of them was injuries and his whole quip was showing now we have a vet visit we have to go to, to see what to do. Dogs were thirsty as soon as we got home to the point it seems like they didn't drink in a day or so. First time we left our dogs at a kennel and we should've known better. read more

Chris and Liz came highly recommended through a very picky dog momma and we have never considered another kennel after housing our doodles at DP. I didn't like that I wasn't able to pick up my dogs on a Sunday. Other than that everything was fine.

This facility is not for senior/special need dogs. I disclosed that he is 16-17 years old, has multiple medications requiring administration, does not walk well anymore and does require attention to change positions regularly, he is incontinent of bowel/bladder and provided diapers/wraps for this purpose to keep him as clean as possible and would likely need multiple baths, which we were happy to pay for. We were assured that his care needs would be met at this facility, and I requested a call at anytime for concerns. We received a single phone call regarding our dog questioning if we could pick him up sooner, that his existing pressure ulcer had worsened, and that he would do better staying home with a sitter next time. Our dog came home distressed, in pain, unable to walk, with multiple new wounds and swollen face on his right side and an overwhelming urine odor. He would not eat or drink water. The staff denies any knowledge of wounds, reports that our dog had multiple 20 minute walks a day (he was unable to walk for 5 minutes consistently prior to boarding), and that he basically required 24 hour care that they were unable to provide. They were unable to explain why we were not called if they could not provide the care he needed. Update: A call was received from Deogi Pointe owner, Chris. Stated that he saw our dog walk once (on saturday 9/5- the afternoon I dropped him off), asked when they should have called (reports it is normal for old dogs to not eat, drink or move for 2-3 days when boarded), then proceeded to yell at me saying "I don't know what you want" after explaining we would like an apology and a refund for boarding since expectations were not met as discussed and our dog came home in much worse condition than when we dropped him off. Repeatedly yelled at me "this is a boarding facility, they get fed at 5 am, we can't be there 24 hours a day" and that they "can't keep him from laying in his own piss or poop the whole time". Chris yelled at me about COVID ruining their business, that they are "hanging on by a thread", and asked if "I wanted them to go bankrupt". Chris was still yelling when I hung up. I was super impressed with this place. Nice building, tons of space for the animals. I only used them for grooming for my little dog. They did a beautiful job. The staff have got to be the most friendly I've ever had at a pet place. They are remarkable. I expect they are likely the best around for grooming. I've tried many places. I deducted a star though because they don't offer teeth brushing. I got the full Shabbang with teeth cleaning at petsmart for my dog so I really hoped they would be the perfect replacement to petsmart. The grooming job was so much better here-'it's just inconvenient having to make another appointment somewhere else for him to get his teeth brushed. I think we will still use them because they did such a great job but we will be likely continue searching for someplace as good that does everything we need for our doggie. read more

Safety and wellness for your pet are paramount when boarding them. You trust strangers to care for your animals while you are away and expect them to be in good health upon your return. I cannot recommend Deogi Pointe due to a foundational failure that occurred during our last stay, which will require my dog to undergo surgery. My family has used Deogi Pointe for quite some time but will no longer go to them moving forward. During our last stay, we had to take one of our dogs for x-rays due to a hip injury he sustained while in their care. He dislocated his hip and now requires surgery to reset it. This incident is going to cost my family thousands of dollars. When I inquired about the cause of the injury, the owner and staff at Deogi Pointe could only speculate. The employees did not witness the incident, and there are no cameras to monitor the dogs, leaving us without any insight into what actually happened. I spoke with the owner about the responsibility of monitoring the dogs for their safety and well-being, and was met with blame-shifting and dismissive statements like "unrealistic." They mentioned that installing cameras isn't an option due to a lack of internet access. However, there are camera options that do not require an internet connection, and various ways to get internet service, regardless of location--Starlink, for example. This seems like a poor excuse for their inadequacy. It's unfortunate because we had enjoyed our past experiences with this facility. The owner argued that it's unfair for us to lose trust based on one incident, given our otherwise satisfactory history with them. I strongly disagree. A single occurrence can reveal a pattern of malpractice. To draw an analogy: if you're driving drunk and make it home safely 95% of the time, the 5% when you don't doesn't excuse the other 95%. In response to the owners statement below: There needs to be a level of accountability from the company responsible for caring for my dogs. Contrary to what the owner suggests, boarding my dogs together wasn't to save money. It was a decision based on their companionship and enjoyment of each other's company. They coexist peacefully at home. My point is that if Deogi Pointe's employees acknowledge rough play, I expect them to intervene, just as I would expect any responsible owner to do. My dogs don't engage in such behavior at my home. I've used Deogi Pointe's services on 10 different occasions. I cannot accurately gauge their activity level while under the company's care due to the lack of information provided to us. This sort of information has never been shared with us. While my dogs are generally active, their injuries cannot be attributed solely to their activity level. There are other factors at play, and I assumed that Deogi Pointe would provide proper care to minimize risks. Neglecting to account for this care suggests a gap in your business model. It was mentioned that my dog hobbled to the front upon our arrival for pickup. This is true; however, his inability to use his fourth leg wasn't a concern then, as we hadn't grasped the severity of the situation. We initially believed that such an injury couldn't have occurred under Deogi's care. The absence of surveillance cameras could be addressed at a fraction of the medical costs incurred due to this incident. Despite acknowledging the rough play, Deogi failed to create a safe environment for the animals. The crux of the issue lies in monitoring and accountability. My dog suffered a life-altering injury during his stay, and yet, there's no concrete explanation of how it transpired. While they speculate, no one witnessed the event. Unfortunately, no steps have been taken, nor are they willing to take any, to enhance pet monitoring. I hold Deogi Pointe responsible for my dog's injury since it happened under their care. The staff acknowledged the risk but took no preventative action. Deogi Pointe and its staff are entrusted with my dogs' well-being during their stay--period. Blame/Responsibility cannot be put on my dogs or any other dog in their care just as you would not hold an infant responsible for injuries it may get while in someone else's care. I understand that I signed a waiver, which is why I'm not pursuing legal action. Despite this, consulting my lawyer revealed that negligence could be argued successfully. However, that's not my intention. My goal isn't to seek financial compensation from Deogi Pointe. While I believe the medical expenses should be covered by Deogi Pointe's insurance, my main objective is to highlight this issue and advocate for changes that enhance the safety of animals in their care. The responsibility for this incident does not lie with my dogs. When we board our pets, it's with the assumption that they'll be monitored and cared for adequately. Regrettably, this did not happen, and Deogi Pointe is reluctant to acknowledge their accountability in this matter. read more

Best dog training/Boarding and Grooming in the Kansas City area. The owners and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable as well as passionate about what they do. The business is located in a spacious and comfortable setting that is very clean. Our 1 year old Airedale did the 2 week training at the facility and we were very pleased with her outcome! The trainer walked us through everything step by step to ensure everything was understood with follow up training at home. We saw a huge difference in our puppy after the two week training session and were happy! Never board your animals here. We have boarded our two dogs two separate times. The first time we had our golden retriever groomed on the last day. She acted extra tired and lethargic and they gave us another dog's medicine in our food container. I returned the medicine and the staff member I talked to promised me that she was not given the medication. We just so happened to have a vet appointment the next day and had her checked out. The vet found an abrasion on one of her paws between the webbing indicating she was digging at the kennel. We tried them again this past week while we went on vacation for 7 days. Our dogs were returned to us with injuries. We never received a call from them indicating anything was wrong. In fact we called halfway through our trip to check in and they indicated the dogs were happy and healthy. We took our golden retriever to the vet the next day. Our vet told us that our golden has a sore on her hip from matted fur that scabbed over. This was caused by neglect. She also has sores around her mouth and metal flecks on her front teeth indicated chewing on a kennel door or gate. Our vet also told us that her front paws have deep abrasions between her toes. Our other dog, a mixed breed, has an identical sore on his mouth from the same thing. Our vet has concluded that our golden retriever was neglected. We did not have our mixed breed check-out but can safely assume that he was treated the same way. Our golden retriever was groomed again on the last day and returned to a small kennel awaiting our return to pick her up. The staff did not indicate she had injuries when she was being groomed. Pictures of their injuries are included. We called and left a message with Deogi Pointe the day we picked our dogs up and received a call back letting us know that the Owner would call us. My fiancé spoke with the owner, Chris. He described her injuries and asked what they could have been caused by. He said "It is normal behavior for dogs to show signs of lethargy when they come home. They can't watch dogs to make sure they don't chew on things. The dogs did not show any signs of distress when they were there." They said they will have no form of reconciliation or restitution. We have disputed the charges with our credit card company and also reported them to the Missouri Department of Agriculture. Deogi Pointe- Chris the owner/trainer, his wife Liz, and the manager Melissa deserve a million stars! Our 3 dog/puppies went to Chris many years ago for training and he basically shaped them into the amazing dogs they became. 2 Rottweilers and 1 cane corso. We found Chris ( the dog whisperer- he truly is) from a dear friend of ours who has 2 very welltrained Akita's (trained by Chris). After Chris trained our puppies, of course I learned all about the classes, as well. My dogs have so much respect and LOVE CHRIS. Over the years, I never forgot Chris' training. We moved to Colorado with kids and dogs in tow. Several years later we moved back to KC and one of my Rotties had some issues. I called Chris and he visited with me for an hour. He suggested that I bring her in for a couple classes. The classes went amazing! I swear my dog remembered Chris after all of these years! When I went to pay for the classes, Chris looked at me and said I AM NOT TAKING YOUR MONEY! I JUST WANT YOUR DOG TO BE GOOD FOR YOU! Who does that? CHRIS, THE DOG WHISPERER DOES! I couldn't believe it! He was so busy! His schedule was full, his kennels were full BC it was summer travel season and he did this for us! DEOGI ALSO HAS THE WORLDS BEST KENNELS! We had just moved back and were house hunting so my dog needed a place to stay! She had NEVER BEEN KENNELED! Melissa the amazing Mgr with the worlds best personality totally took care of us. She put my mind at ease, showing me the huge indoor/outdoor kennel runs. They were all so clean and beautiful. She, too loved on all of the pets. I watched 2 dogs come in. She called them by name and played with their ears. I knew my dog would be ok. My dog had to stay there for 30 days so of course I called every so often. Melissa was always so sweet. I also had to call and add on a few days right over the 4th of July. Deogi was such a blessing during all of the chaos! When it was time to pick up my fur child, I was sooo excited! She was so excited to see me but she circled back to love on Chris and Melissa! She is not a loving dog so this says A LOT! She also came out weighing the same as her chubby self going in! Deogi made special care to give her my loving food toppers at every meal BC she is spoiled and her hip vitamins BC she is getting old. My dog loved it there. How do I know? 2 reasons...she smiles when she is happy. I peaked in at her and she was smiling. More importantly I can see it in her eyes that she had been taken great care of, the kind of care that had love in it. I know my dog and I would have known otherwise. Maybe not in 5 days or even a few more, but one month for sure! Chris and Melissa, Deogi Pointe, WOW, the love you have for animals is like no other! We boarded our golden retriever this weekend for the first time at this facility. Please know this is not the first time we have boarded him, therefore, we had certain expectations of "personalized" service that their slogan "personalized service for you and your pet" offers. We are new to the Northland and have been researching new, more convenient facilities. Needless to say, our expectations were not met. 1) Offering no Sunday hours is the exact opposite of personalized service. I suspect most of their boarding clients are weekend clients... forcing us to pay an extra night and not allowing Sunday pick-up is unique to other facilities. We were in a bind and agreed for a Monday morning pick-up, but this was a turn off from the beginning. On top of that, not opening until 8:30a adds another inconvenience to your clients who work. 2) During our tour, one of the staff told us the dogs are let out on the hour. When I picked our dog up, his underside was wet. I assumed maybe it was because the kennels had been sprayed down/cleaned. Once I got him in the car, due to the smell, I realized it was urine. He is 1.5 years old and has had zero accidents in over 12 months... this leads me to believe he was let out much less frequently since he can go a full 8 hours at home before being let out. 3) He came home with about the same amount of food as what we left for him. I was told he ate twice (in what would have been out of 7 meals)... the reason was that he was "probably too hot". This isn't a valid reason because I assume the kennel has a/c and the concrete floors would be cool as well. When I questioned that reason I was then told it was probably because he was some place new. I understand that, but I would expect the "personalized" service would include doing things to encourage him to eat (warm water on food, mix with soft food, etc... at least give us the heads up this could be an issue in your kennel environment so we can be more proactive). 4) I also don't like that the dogs have no interaction or the ability to play with one another. Personalized service would give owners the permission option to let them play in the yard based on temperament. Overall, I feel the service is purely a transaction, not personalized care for my dog. We have received service from two other boarding businesses where we were highly satisfied, so our expectations are not out of line. It's just unfortunate we have not yet found both location convenience and satisfactory service together. read more

We had to board two cats--yes cats!--for 10 days and chose Deogi Pointe for a few reasons. They are super close to us, they were the only facility that I called that had a special kitty room with a huge window for lounging, and their prices were reasonable. It turns out, our two cats were the only ones boarded over that 10 day time frame so they had 24 hour free roam of the entire room! I emailed a few times to make sure nobody had forgotten about them--lol--and they emailed me back each time. The dog boarding facility is very large, with individual runs and lots of fresh country air! Deogi Pointe is in the country after all so you can expect a very beautiful setting. There were many people coming and going during my drop off and pickup so it must be a regular place for many families! read more

I took my 13 week old goldendoodle to Deogi pointe for puppy boot camp. Before he went Doogie, walked me. After picking him up today after 10 days of training I finally got to walk him. He learned all the most important commands and Chris, spent 2 hours training me as well. Well worth the money spent. I would do it all again. Staff was helpful, and friendly. Never made me feel like an over protective owner as I called several times to check on him. Facilities were very clean. Thank you Deogi Pointe! Had Deogi Pointe watch my rat terrier "Kansas" and they did a wonderful job. I was very nervous since it was the first time that I have boarded her, but I would definitely recommend them. My dog needs eye drops pretty frequently during the day and if she isn't not given them on time her eyes reflect that. Her eyes looked great when we picked her up and she smelled good from her bath! The facility is clean and the owners take note of your needs. Great place and will trust them to watch my baby from now on! read more

I was hoping that our dog would have a good experience with Chris and the dog training. Our puppy was 6 months old and had never been away from us. She very much wants to be close to us at all times. So needless to say we were worried about the 14 days away but we bit the bullet and did it. We were told we could not bring anything from home, so she had no toys, bones, blankets etc. We were also told we could call and check on her whenever we wanted and that Ashley and Jeremy both would give me updates on how she was doing. Ashley said she understood how hard this would be. So I called about 4 times during the 8 days she was there. One of those times I talked to Chris and he was a little rude but I just chalked it off as he was busy. No big deal. I called on the 7th day and during the conversation, I mentioned that I wished I could just see her. Ashley told me that she was supposed to tell me I couldn't but that she was in the 2nd kennel on the parking lot side and that she saw her everyday when she came in so if we stayed in our car we could get a glimpse of her there. I was happy that at least we could see her. So my husband and I went up there for all of 3 minutes and watched her play. I felt so much better when I left. Then the very next day, I get a phone call from Chris and he was berating me for coming and looking at her while in our car. He said, and I quote " Ashley said she told you not to come by, then she looked out the window and saw you in the lot." He said " Ashley says you call her 2 to 3 times a day!! You are far too emotionally involved with this dog. You need to come pick her up because no matter what I teach her, you would not follow it when she comes home!" Seriously????? Where did this come from???? We called 4 times total!! Furthermore, we were going to pay $1250.00 to get her trained so why would we not want to do what he said when she came home???? AND I firmly believe that you shouldn't own a dog if you are not emotionally involved with it. That should make a dog trainer happy not, pissed off. It was so bizarre and I was shocked at his behavior. He was very rude and he was screaming at me like I was a terrible child. I calmly told him that Ashley told me I could come in the lot to see her as long as my dog didn't see me. And she didn't. How would I know that I could see her from the lot and exactly which kennel she was in if she didn't tell me??? But instead he talked to me like I was dirt and told me to pick her up and that he would only charge me for the boarding. Big deal.......I would not have boarded her, as we were home throughout this whole time. So we are out $365 for boarding that we didn't want or need and were scolded like children. I asked him to bathe her because she had been in that run for 8 days without a bath. When we got there he was not even there to talk to us about it. Such a coward. Our dog had also pooped in her little cage after they bathed her so when Ashley actually brought her out, she asked if I wanted her to clean her up or just take her home that way. REALLY???? With poop on her???? So very unprofessional throughout the whole process. It took our dog 1 1/2 days to get back to normal. She was skiddish, quiet and afraid we were going to leave her again. We were and still are shocked at the way he talked to me and how unprofessional he is. And we still cannot figure out why Ashley would have told him the things she did. It was a straight out lie! We signed up for the board and train. We had tried to train our older miniature bulldog previously and the trainer quit. Our younger miniature bulldog has never been trained and was becoming difficult to walk. I picked them up today after 2 weeks of training. Wow! The owners took 2.5 hours to explain what they had done and the reasoning behind their methods. Both dogs made incredible profess. This was the best money I have ever spent. I highly recommend them. Amazing facility - head and shoulders above the other places we visited. The dogs have their own private patio they can access via doggy door whenever they want to plus access to a large grassy area to play in. The staff are top notch and patient with first time boarders (as we were). Our female has Addison's disease and they were VERY watchful of her and brought anything they saw to our attention. They were able to give a detailed report about the pups and how they did (eating, drinking, potty habits and how they were socialized). I won't take my dogs anywhere else - period! read more
