I love my dog as much as a dog can be loved. . .but he is a DOG!! He plays (usually in the middle of the pack) hard and long. I watch from afar and have no problem when they use the spray bottle water on him to control his manic behavior. He gets carried away. He developed a hot spot from a scratch while in their care. They called us in D.C. and advised he would be taken to a vet the following morning. They worked with us every step of the way. BTW, he is trained, he is not a wild man, he's just a regular, enthusiastic playful pup. We will return because he loves it so much! read more

We love camp bow wow!! They take such good care of my German shepherd. Even tho he pulls them around they make sure he is comfortable with all the other dogs and they even offer separate 1on 1 activities to give him a break. I love boarding him at camp Bow wow! read more

They potentially have an outbreak of leptospirosis. At least 1 dog has died and 2 others are on treatment for it, possibly more. They aren't accepting responsibility and refuse to alert any of the pet owners of this potential danger. If you've been there recently and your dog is sick, PLEASE get them to the vet before you lose your dog too. This can be passed to people as well, not just other dogs. This has been reported to the Dpt of Agriculture. It appears they may also be operating without a license. read more

So I'm super protective over my dogs and I was so happy with how they handled not just my dogs but my constant calls as well my dogs love coming here so much so that if I say "Camp Bow Wow" they run for their leashes. If you have a pet you know how much you care for them - they are a part of the family. There are very few service businesses that require as much trust as we (used to) put in CBW. We have 2 Yellow labs that have been to CBW many times. We always have found the staff caring and helpful with no problems whatsoever. Unfortunately after our most recent experience and the the owner's apparent lack of compassion or accountability for a situation I am a very unhappy CBW customer. We will NOT be taking our dogs back and I certainly will be sharing my experience with everyone I know who has a dog. Our dogs were dropped off Monday and picked up Friday by my adult son. When he picked them up he called us and told us there were a "bunch of bumps" on our youngest dog's head. We returned home Sat late in the morning and observed her to see if the bumps would go away. One started bleeding around 3pm Sat so we immediately took her to the vet. He believed she had an allergic reaction to something and developed a "hot spot". She was treated and given medication to the tune of $155. When I called Shannon (the owner) to discuss the situation her tone was nothing but defensive. Her position was this was a "naturally occurring" situation that "could have happened anywhere". Her attitude could not have been less sympathetic. She simply explained to me why she didn't believe she had any culpability. When I further explained my dissatisfaction in an email her response included a comparison to me getting a bug bite or poison ivy at a friend's house. The comparison was ridiculous. CBW is not my "friend", they are a service provider and I paid them a couple hundred bucks to take care of my dogs. One of them required $155 of additional expense to remedy something that happened while in their care. Dogs also require supervision and attention. They can't tell you they got bit by a bug. They don't know to stay away from the poison ivy. That's why I need to trust the people I pay to take care of them. The staff obviously did not notice something was wrong - otherwise they would have said something. Shannon said in her email the "issue began on Friday with bumps so small they did not notice them". There's no way she knows the issue began on Friday because her staff didn't know there was an issue. My son noticed the bumps immediately when he picked her up on Friday. One was so large that it was bleeding 24 hours later. If they didn't notice something was going on shame on them - you're not doing the job I pay you to perform. Finally, Shannon never asked me what it would take to resolve the situation. She had no interest in budging an inch from her position that they're not liable for what happened. A major customer service fail in my book. I trusted CBW to take care of my dogs. I also trusted them to take care of us. I wasn't looking for a refund, I simply wanted to be reimbursed for my vet bill. Instead I got the cold shoulder and a contrite "if there is nothing more we can do to come to an agreement on this issue, it may simply be time we discontinue doing business". Really? The understatement of the year. If you're looking for someone who will take good care of your furry family members and an owner who cares about her customers don't take your dogs to CampBowWow in Lee's Summit. I was on a long trip with my dog and heard about Camp Bow Wow on the internet. From long distance I submitted my "camper registration". Almost an immediate response by emIl and phone by the "counselor"! Everything about this place was friendly and professional and LadyBug loved being able to stretch her legs and make new friends after hours in the car. She even got a g great report card! Ha to my surprise because she's such an active dog. I can't say enough nice things about our experience at Camp! When they open in my hometown I hope the staff is just as great. read more

We have been going to Camp Bow Wow for over two year with our dogs. They switch management a few months ago and the place is not the same. The staff is unhappy and they don't love the dogs like they use to. It is a terrible atmosphere! I wish Maggie and Liz were still there... the place was so much better run! If you love your dog DO NOT TAKE he or she here! My dog tried the 'free interview day' and now has kennel cough, is on antibiotics and cough meds. Everything they told me over the phone, was NOT the experience I had. I watched him the whole time on the web cam. He has never been around other people or dogs and he was aggressed by one dog for 2 hours straight, the attendee did nothing to interact and make sure he was safe and interacting well; he was left to sit alone in the cold wet astro-turf. Smelled so bad and was wet and shaking when he came home, had to get a bath. Manager seemed dismissive when I called her. They don't care about your dog, just want your money. After awhile though, I realized that they were understaffed, overworked, and not properly vetted for the work that they needed to perform. The place smells horrible, my dogs smelled horrible after their stay, my dogs were sick(not eating and loose stools) and extremely thirsty after their visit. The play time they advertise, does not happen on the weekends. The staff is rude and inattentive! Never again will I leave my dogs in such incapable hands of those at Camp Bow Wow! Never again will I take my dogs to stay at Camp Bow Wow. The first time I took them for an extended weekend visit. During that time they were not in the play pens at any time during the weekend. I checked constantly;even in the hours they say 7-10 am and 4-7pm. That made me very sad that my dogs were in a kennel all weekend. Playtime was the main reason I took the to Camp Bow Wow in the first place. When I went to pick them up, they still were not in a play area. The attendant went back to get them from their kennels. When we got home both dogs drank two bowls of water. It was like they never drank before. Then my male dog was very ill to his stomach for three days. He wouldn't eat and had loose stool. To me this was very disconcerting. It made me suspicious that they did not feed him his own food that I sent along with him. I thought perhaps it was just a bad weekend for them so I scheduled another weekend for them. However, at the last minute I decided I did not want to take the chance again. I informed them my dogs would not be coming to stay. This past weekend I was convinced to give them another shot. Since it is so convenient to my home and they had openings I decided to do it. When I dropped the dogs off the facility smelled very bad. This caused me to raise and eyebrow. They took the dogs happily and said they would see us tomorrow! When we went to pick up the dogs we were informed that there was a cancellation fee for the last time. I asked why I was not informed of this when I canceled the stay nor when I dropped the dogs off for their current stay. The girls looked and each other and shrugged. I said, well I am not paying it and I want you to go get my dogs so we can pay for this stay and get out of here (did I mention how bad this place smelled???). We waited for about 5 minutes. The attendant, Carly, came out with hands on hips and said I am charging you $44 today and Shannon, the owner, WILL BILL YOU for the rest. I said, I am fine with paying for their visit today because they stayed, obviously, but I will not pay the bill. She got very angry and acted like a spoiled teenager. She would not check us out and then I asked her to go get someone else to help us because I would not be subjected to her attitude anymore. She slammed the gate and the door and sent another woman out to help us. Our dogs came out and reeked! Gosh they smelled horrible. I took them home and the same thing happened with the water. It is now Monday and my male dog is still ill from the weekend. Needless to say, something happens at that facility. The staff has problems with communication and are very inattentive. That means that translates to care of my pet. Never again will I leave my dogs in such incapable hands of those at Camp Bow Wow! read more

Literally, I would not leave my dog there. The dogs were the smartest mammals I encountered there. The person who was at the counter was useless. She could not manage to accommodate a check in with a scheduled appointment. There is no adult supervision. When I asked to have the owner contacted, I was told," Her phone is for personal use only." "She doesn't take business calls." You would be much better off if you took your animal to the pound and collected it later and paid their fee. Wayside Waifs, you never looked so good. Unfortunately, there is no way to give negative stars. Why is this place in business? We took our dog there for the first time last month. We've heard others rave about this place. We loved everything about it.... It was clean and the staff was courteous and friendly. Our dog seemed happy the entire time. Since they have video cameras streaming throughout the day, we were able to log on and watch our dog to see how she was doing. This helped me feel so much better since we were away from her for several days. I love that they "interview" every dog to make sure they are friendly and socialize well with other dogs. My only concern was that the dogs were there alone from 7 PM each evening to 6 AM the next day. This is a very long time with no potty break for house trained dogs that are used to getting to go out later in the evening. Also, if something happened during the night, no one is there to let them out and get them to safety if necessary, Overall, we were so happy with this experience. We felt our dog was well cared for and had a ton of great socialization and playtime. read more

This is a decent place for dogs and the prices are reasonable, however; the owners are unprofessional and lack the proper communication skills it takes to run a business. Take their 'professionalism' to Kansas City and their doors would not be open anymore. I have taken my dogs there for a couple years now and the whole staff has always welcomed my dogs with smiles - which I like of course. They get report cards for every overnight visit they have had, and the reports are always filled with positive information - again which I like of course, however; their is a communication break down from the owners perspective and their staffs perspective. Problems or issues are not communicated on a timely manner by the owners. The owners are not friendly and welcoming and if this is a locally owned business are the owners not the impression of their facility? I would keep in mind when taking your dogs here if you want professionalism or sub par professionalism, if you want problems, issues or concerns handled on a timely manner or just whenever the owner feels is convenient for them, if you want to know what is going on with your dogs interactions or if you don't really care. A business has a right to run their business however they see fit and I respect this. I have experienced more professional and organized dog daycare facilities at other places. Places that are cleaner with more experienced management. This is a fine place, but sub par in comparison to other dog facilities throughout the Kansas City metro area and across the midwest. read more

I like the fact that our dog absolutely loves to go there. We take him there once a week, which is the only time we take him anywhere, and he gets so excited because he knows where he's going. He literally pulls on the leash to get inside! The staff is amazing and the web cams are a plus. Also, the screening is a great idea for new dogs. read more

I have been bringing my dog there since they opened in March 2008 and she LOVES this place. So I am really surprised by the previous review because I have never encountered any of that. I have never had the staff be anything but friendly to me and my dog. She has been boarded several times and goes to daycare as well on occasion. I love the fact that I can watch her on Camper Cam anytime I want and that she is getting plenty of exercise. I also love that I know she is happy there. If we even say "Bow Wow" or "Camp" in front of her she gets so excited, she can barely contain herself. I have actually watched the Camper cams quite a bit and I see the staff either cleaning the play areas or interacting with the dogs most of the times I check. I guess everyone's perspective is different, but I would recommend the place to anyone! read more

We use Lee's Summit Camp Bow Wow whenever we need to board. Highly recommend. Great staff. Our two dogs cannot wait to get there when they see the front of building, the price is right, they pre-screen, the dogs get to play with other dogs and staff all day - inside and out - and you can see they have fun on the web cam. I've taken Bleu, my Catahoula mix, to Camp Bow Wow two years in a row now when we went on our family vacation. She loves it there! She gets to play, not just sit around in a kennel. Each time I called when we were an hour or two from home and they had her bathed and ready to be picked up when I arrived. I was shocked to read some of the other reviews because I've never had any issues like the ones described by the other reviewers. I called this facility in Lee's Summit on Monday to arrange for doggie day care during a visit the upcoming weekend. I explained that we were driving in from out of town the day that day care was needed so was unable to do interview in advance. The person I spoke with told me since it was just a brief stay, they would just make sure my dog was ok with other dogs and I would not have to do the formal interview. I made a reservation. Upon our arrival yesterday we were greeted by a young girl that obviously was severely lacking in customer service skills. She told us we did not have a reservation and that we must have called a different day care facility. I insisted I knew where I called. She vehemently denied that I had called Camp Bow Wow, pretty much accusing me of lying. I pulled up my call history to prove to her that I had called. She then told me she could not and would not help us and to take him somewhere else. I explained we did not have time to drive anywhere else. She was unapologetic and rude. After this terrible encounter, I would NEVER consider leaving my dog with a company that operates in this manner! If they cannot even deal with customers in a proper manner, then I certainly would question their ability to treat my dog in a loving and caring way. There are plenty of other businesses here and I would recommend anyone find a place other than Camp Bow Wow. read more

I'm speaking from personal experience, because I have given this place more than one chance to prove their worth. I boarded my dogs there for five days and they came back with over half of the food that was sent, so obviously they weren't fed as instructed. During their visit, I called to inquire about my dogs having access to water, because I noticed that the play area floor was suspiciously dry. The CBW employee reassured me that the dogs had access to water at all times, but my gut feeling told me that she was not being honest. For the record, I just want to make everyone aware that the spray bottles that you see the CBW employees carrying around is NOT for cleaning up accidents, it's actually for spraying dogs in their faces as a form of discipline. My husband witnessed it occurring and the CBW employee confirmed that it was used to calm the dogs when they get too aggressive. I firmly instructed her to never spray my dogs with water! My dogs will NEVER go back to this particular location! This location smells really bad and I have to bathe my dogs everytime they leave this place. HORRIBLE! read more

We had used CAMP BOW WOW before for an overnight stay with no problems. This particular time we went on vacation out of the country and were to be gone for eight days. On day seven (after he had been there for six prior days) we got a call that he had vomited five times the last time contained blood and wanted authorization to take him to the vet. Our vet was closed at that time and we authorize them to take him to the nearest emergency veterinarian hospital which they did. When we picked him up the next day (with a bill of $1357.03) the vet said he had not vomited one time while he was there and could not find a real reason for it. We have since had to return him to our vet for a persistent cough. When I returned to pick up his items left there, I ask what it happened and she told me that she was not working that day but they were very understaffed because of so many people being on vacation. Being understaffed is no excuse when you have to make reservations to come in. read more

I have always heard bad reviews about this place and even had a friend who worked there several yrs ago and she always commented on the conditions of the play areas etc. even how some staff treated animals. Lately I have been reading some more positive reviews and I thought I would give them a try for a day of daycare on July 6 2019. About a week later both of my dogs started to dry heave severely and stopped eating and drinking completely. They were both starting to vomit white foam. Now my pets are always up to date on vaccinations especially rabies and bortatella. We took them to the vet on July 16 and both dogs have a temperature of a 104 and severe case of kennel cough. The vet asked if they had been boarded or around other dogs in the last 10 days. Yes. They were at Camp Bow Wow on July 6 2019 for about 8 hours. My dogs are not very sociable so we knew it had to been the daycare. The vet said that they apparently let a dog or dogs attend with out having proper vaccinations. Yesterday, one of my dogs vomited about 100x in 24 hours. In 2 more days if they are still vomiting, they then have more of a severe case than what the vet has suspected. My dogs are so lethargic and still no eating or drinking. If I could give camp bow wow a negative review I would. I've also been told to call health department because there watering holes are unsanitary as possible as their facility and to verify that all records show that all dogs are vaccinated for kennel cough! What a terrible experience. I take my dogs to cuddle up pups normally but I was desperately needing a place on July 6. read more

We have taken our lab there twice while on vacation. The first time she came home with kennel cough. This last time, she not only fought going in (which should have been a warning sign to us) but 6 days later we checked on her & she had kennel cough again & had to be picked up. A relative picked her up since we were out of town & said she couldnt get out of there fast enough, I will never take her back & not recommend to anyone that they use this facility. read more

I am writing this post because I have received no response after emailing the corportate office and after asking for a return call from the manager. I just called on Monday to check availability for my 2 dogs. The lady asked if I had ever used Camp Bow Wow before. I said no. She said that even though they had room for my 2 dogs to board on the dates I am needing- she would not have "time" to interview my dogs and therefore is not interested in boarding my dogs. I guess I am confused as to why you would turn down my dogs when you have availability? This is very disappointing as I was looking forward to sending my 2 dogs to you for 8 nights.. When I asked , the lady stated because her next phone call (someone who didn't need the interview) would fill the spots available. It is very disappointing to me that after this occurred, your company did not feel it necessary to contact me. Poor customer service. I would not recommend based on my experience. read more

I have to say that my dog did not stay at Camp Bowwwow, we simply went for a tour. I was extremely disappointed with what I saw. The "cabins" were nothing more than a regular cage type kennel. We were there at "lunch time" and there were a couple of the small dogs in their kennel. I was not able to see into the larger dog kennels. The indoor play areas are just a concrete pad, fenced to keep the large dogs from the small ones. There were opened garage type doors that separated the indoor from the outdoor play areas. The attendant made sure to point out a water dish by the door. We did not get to see the outside play area. The "cabin" area was very warm, I must say it was a hot day when I was there, 85 outside. The entire facility smelled very bad. The odor hit me in the face the minute I opened the door. It only got worse as we went back into the facility. We did pass 2 other attendants while we were there and they did not even acknowledge us. I left the building feeling like it was nothing more than a dog pound with playrooms. read more
