We were welcomed and offered snacks and pot( oh you said pop) There was a good variety of choices both of cold or hot drinks and chips, crackers or cookies & candy. I was a happy camper and we could eat as we listened and watched the performances. Seats were comfy enough and tables had our names on a reserved card( so classy). Ample parking and a talented 1/2 dozen of actors. We saw The Vagrant, it could've been staged a bit better, perhaps with a foul smell from the 2 homeless. read more

This is a low budget find that I am very happy to report I might just go back to. It's a close encounter of a small production that I enjoyed. Located in an industrial area with a very nondescript location. You might miss it if you blink. Came here to watch the Almighty Low and Disease and Disgruntled. Funny, short and relatable. The theater will provide you with free snacks and soda that you can munch on while waiting for the show to start. To bring the drink and snacks in you must transfer it to a different container. Donations are welcomed but not required. Please donate. The tix are so cheap and in the single digit. Tip: 1. bring your own booze. They provide the corkscrew and glass. 2. As always, Denver's Dangerous Theatre keeps producing and putting on great quirky, seriously funny and thought provoking plays. Even though this is a low budget venue, the plays are awesome and the actors are very dedicated in their performances. Came in with my daughter to see two short plays, The Almighty, Low (written & directed by Marq Del Monte) and Deceased & Disgruntled (written by Winnie Wenglewick and Tag Team directed by Brained Starling & Marla Kalin). Don't want to give the play away, but both did a great job in intertwining the story of two acts about heaven, hell and the afterlife. Thoroughly enjoyed them both and as always, Winnie as a good selection of snacks and drinks (donations accepted). You can also bring wine or beer and she has glasses, corkscrews for you to use. You can also purchase tickets online and you can get their discounted punch card at the window. They provide discounts to seniors, students and military too! read more

Wow! What an interesting venue to watch a show. This place is in kind of an industrial park, so it's a little difficult to find. But, there is generally a sign with the name of the performance on it, near the street, directing you to the parking lot. This is an extremely SMALL venue. I think they max out at 50 or 60 audience members. It's more like a large garage than a theatre. This venue is BYOB! Yes, you can bring your own beverages to enjoy during the show. The price of your ticket includes some light snacks and hot chocolate, but feel free to bring a bottle wine, a six pack, whatever (most people do). The ticket prices are totally reasonable. I only paid $10 to see "Who Killed Santa?" (currently playing). But, don't let that fool you into thinking you're getting a $10 show. The show was fantastic! The acting was great, the show was interactive and the story line was very entertaining and kept you guessing. I will definitely be headed back to this place! I highly recommend that you check it out. One word of advice, get your ticket in advance. Since it is such a small venue, it sells out quick. read more

My wife and I went to see the play " The Almighty Low" and were both pleasantly surprised as we didn't know what to expect. The writer of this play also performed in this play also does great in the part he plays. I recommend checking it out. It's a great excape from the excapes that arn't real . The Almighty low is one of those plays that will stick with you for a few days. It's light but effective in imprinting on your mind. Bravo !!! Now for the venue, ditto, BRAVO !!! After having seen three performances at Dangerous, I can pretty comfortably say it's an outstanding venue. It's off the beaten path, but still extremely easy to get to from 6th Ave. There's ample lot parking, as well, which is always nice. As others have mentioned, you can bring your own booze, which is great. They do offer free sodas and ice cream while you're there, too, as an option. The lobby is roomy with lots of places to sit, and the theatre space itself is comfortable and intimate. There is a wide variety of shows presented, so you're bound to find something to strike your fancy. The owners are good people, too Personally, I've come to see several Hit and Run Musical Improv perform several times - it is a GREAT show. Every time you go you get something completely different, and the tickets for this show only run you $10. One note: Bring cash or check - there's no credit card machine. read more

Last night we went to see "Adulting Sucks". I didn't really know what to expect but definitely thought it would be funny. It was not really "funny" though there were some bits that made me laugh. Mostly it was a powerfully honest look at a woman's life and what she has learned along the way. I did not expect to be as touched as I was. Thank you so very much for your honesty and vulnerability. This is (hopefully not for much longer) one of the best-kept secrets for affordable entertainment in Denver! My mom and a I went to see Dark Woods last weekend and really enjoyed ourselves. The acting was fantastic and this tiny theater company puts on plays by local and independent playwrights. They also live up to the "Dangerous" title by doing things you just don't typically see in Denver like cross dressing and nude plays. The best part is, tickets are only $10, so why would you go see some banal movie when you can come here instead? The owner puts out free snacks before the play and you can bring your own booze!!! Stumbled into the Dangerous Theatre back in '09. MY Dad was in town and our favorite sunday brunch place had closed down. A friend recommend "The Dangerous," so my Dad & I checked it out. I called the box office to make reservations and forgot to leave my name. The box office lady (whom I later learned was the owner), left me a voice mail confirming my reservations for "No Name, Party of 2." I laughed so hard I almost peed. It's a low-tech black box theater. Really didn't know what to expect when I saw that. I was quite delighted to see that the actors were fabulous at creating the scene for me. It was so clear in my mind what the set would have looked like. I had so much fun I've been back dozens of times. Never - ever have I seen anything boring or predictable on the stage. (My Dad has even come back several times -- he's kinda particular -- and has never left disappointed) I LOVE the fact that the owner, Winnie, has actually stopped the play in progress and told people to shut up or get out! More places should do that!! I have also learned that there is a glitch in the GoldStar ticketing system that reports many shows are sold out. Just call the Box Office and they will tell you for sure if there is still seating available. They can usually find a spot. The only negative thing I have ever witnessed here, and it is not the fault of the theater, are people OD'ing on edibles and falling out of their chairs. #Dumbasses read more

My five stars go almost solely towards the actual performance. Fantastic. Almost first rate. I especially enjoyed the format of the actors speaking to the audience. The seating was not too comfortable, standard chairs chained together - it was a bit cramped. Another reviewer here mentioned small tables with candles. Unfortunately we didn't get that experience. We brought a bottle of wine but had nowhere to put it or our glasses, so the bottle went on the floor. The room was a bit chilly, enough that I wanted my jacket. Snacks are small bags of Lays, peanuts, mints, etc. Coffee and I think I saw hot cocoa were available. Sodas as well. The "lobby" was a bit awkward as again, there were no tables to set your glass on. But it was intimate and I liked that. There were probably no more than 25 persons on a Friday evening. I wanted to use the Denver 9 two for one deal, but was told that reservations for that deal had sold out. I found that rather disappointing. Especially when I saw that the audience was only half full. I understand that the theater makes very little in profit, but I do think it'd make better business sense to honor the two for one deal. Because the experience was good and we will return. Hence they'd make money on future repeat business. I was told on the phone that if you show a student ID you pay $15. Not so. The young man at the counter refused to honor that. Overall a good time and I would return. read more

We found the theater through Denver 2 for 1 tickets and decided to check it out. It is a very small venue. There were only about 15 people at he Friday nigh Kama Sutra show. The chairs were linked together which made it a little close for my comfort and the only reason I didn't give a 5 rating (and it was a little chilly for my partner but I was comfortable). The show was hilarious and I do love supporting smaller theater companies. Light snacks and beverages are included in your ticket price and plenty of free parking. My favorite, you can bring your own beverages including alcoholic beverages. We will definitely be returning for one of the afternoon shows which include more food choices, grab some friends, and fill up a cooler. read more

Had a great time. This is a small theater. I called ahead to see if there was enough space for two and there was, maybe about 10 more seats available. You first walk in, there is a little kitchenette with a "living space" area with couches. There is coffee, tea and soda. Mugs and wine glasses are provided. There were also a few snacks if you wanted. We brought a bottle a wine, which was a great idea. Other people brought mini coolers with beer. The show, "An evening with Mr. Johnson, It's harder than you think to be a Dick," was very funny. All 3 performers were entertaining. There is a straight version and a gay version, we arrived for the straight version. The script was funny and the acting was well performed. Price is from $10-$15. We will definitely go again and bring your own booze, what's better than that?! read more

I'm already a long time patron of Denver's Dangerous Theater. I appreciate the productions this little theater brings to life. Productions that, due to their thought provoking themes, wouldn't be produced anywhere else. The Last Castrato is one such little gem. Franc Gaxiola stars in this one man show, and what a performance he delivers! He transforms his voice and his body in amazing ways as he delivers the lines from the other characters in this play. The story is so much MORE than being about a man born without genitals. It wrestles with the power of love and how it goes beyond physical limitations. It explores our narrow definition of relationship. It also deals with rage, rejection and regret. I was held to the edge of my seat as I watched this macabre tale. read more

"Hit and run, musical improv" was freakin' awesome! I haven't been to a show that has made me laugh like that in a very long. On a whim we decided to check this place out and we are definetly going to take our friends here. We were looking for something new to do, something that wasn't just a dinner and a movie sort of night. DDT offers you and your date the opportunity to see a great production that costs less that a movie ticket. Oh and they have included with the price of admission ice cream and refreshments. Yes, ice cream! When was the last time you went to a show and they said, 'oh yeah would you like free popcorn and a soda'? NEVER! Such a good deal to see a play and have soda and cookies for $10. The plays are a little sophomoric and we saw the takeoff on 50 shades of gray and some of it just wasn't that funny. But, thinking of bang for the buck, this place is well worth a visit. Very tiny venue with very intimate seating. It felt like there were those that were in the know and then there was us. Great small theatre company who has a very nice space. Heated show area, great intimate seating, some tables to put drinks or food that you can bring in to the show (including your own beer), and nice lighting and sound. Watched a show called Dark Wood there on 2/8/2013 and it was an amazing show. Well written by Peter McGarry and performed by Patrick Call, Ben Pelayo, and Brainard Starling. The actors performed in the nude but after the first couple minutes you didn't even notice as they transformed their characters into a drama played out in the cage with some humor and intensity. I look forward to seeing another show here and encourage everyone else to see Dark Wood which will be playing until April. read more

I went to see Who Killed Santa? last night. Great show! The cast was very talented and well rehearsed. The script was creative and "colorful." I didn't know about the BYOB until I read the first review. That's a bonus. Since the show is so balls out it's more fun to have a drink in your hand. The theater was small so we could sit in the front row. The parking was really easy since it's in this industrial park and there was a lot right in front of the theater. I went to see "Kentucky Claus and the Rebel Elves" First timer and had a great time. The place is not that large so make sure you make a reservation. My favorite comedy place in Denver! Such a hidden gem with no parking issue. Went there twice and laughed a lot each time. The actors are so talented and you can sit very close to them. My boyfriend and I attended #FirstWorldSanta last night which was a play written by the owner about Santa and his "first world problems" such as being gluten-free, PETA getting upset about the reindeer and elves unionizing etc. My boyfriend, not a typical play goer, absolutely 100% fell in love with everything about this venue and the play. Pros: Plenty of parking, easy to find, friendly staff, free soda, tea, coffee, hot cocoa, and snacks (mainly sweets like cookies/chocolate), and, best for last - it's BYOB and many people did exactly that. Had we not been running so late we would have brought wine and we will do that next time. The play was funny and enjoyable. Cons: None :) Neutral: The theater is very low budget and as such that should set your expectations for the evening. There is a very bare bones staff and the actors/owner do a lot of the work. I don't have a problem with that personally. The seating gave me pause at first - metal framed up right chairs you might find at the kid's thanksgiving table, more stable than your typical folding chair but about that size. However they were very padded and were comfortable. The tables were small which, I don't have a problem with, but they are so light that just one little kick off the foot (hard to avoid as it's a little cramped in the seating area) makes the table wobble all over and I spilled my drink on accident. Hey if that's the worst thing that happens all night it's not a big deal. Just if it were my theater I'd weight the table legs or something :) All in all we were very pleased and will certainly return. read more

I attended I Want to Be Craig Ferguson at Denver's Dangerous Theater last night with a group of girlfriends for a girls night out. I didn't know what to expect, but I was looking forward to a fun evening of comedy and improv. What I got instead was an evening that I am still trying to put into words and erase from my mind. I knew we were in trouble when Winnie opened her act and said she had not prepared anything for the evening because she was taking her other play to Orlando and was leaving the next day or so. Our group had about 10 women in it and the rest of the crowd (by crowd I mean maybe 5 people) seemed like close friends and family members. I felt like I was at a party where no one had invited us and really didn't want us to be at the party. She threw a lot of Fbombs and sex at us and then brought a local comedian up on stage, interviewed her for a bit and then let her do a set. Her set was not any better. If you are looking for a play that references blowjobs, anal sex and a clitorial erection that lasts more than 4 hours due to taking Viagra then this place is for you. If you are looking for a fun evening out with your girlfriends, I would recommend something else. As far as the other reviews for the show saying it was fantastic....I wish I was at that show, because there was nothing fantastic about the show I saw. read more

Wow, wow, wow! I found this place through Denver 2 for 1 Tix. I got two tickets for 15 dollars. The place is in a little warehouse in the industrial section off of Alameda. It is super unique and cool, and don't worry it feels very safe. We get inside and it is so cozy! The walls are painted dark colors, and the furniture is comfy, and there is a fridge full of free drinks, a counter full of free snacks, and free coffee. You can bring your own booze and they even supply the corkscrew and glasses. We sat out in the waiting room and relaxed while we waited to be seated. Once we were seated we were so excited because the seats were two chairs around a little table with a candle. There were only about 12 of these set up for our play....very intimate and sweet. The play was outstanding (we saw The Vagrant). The actors were superb. What a great experience!!! I can't wait to return for summer shows with ice cream and a banana split bar. read more
