The play Who's holiday was great, the wonderful actress was able to make every sentence rhyme.

Santa Clausmopolitans before and during the show-so yummy!!

Came here with a friend on Sunday to see Mary Louise Lee in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill by Lanie Robertson and Directed by Betty Hart. It's 1959 at Emerson's Bar and Grill in Philadelphia - where the audience is about to witness one of Billie Holiday's last performances, given just four months before her death. Holiday's hit songs are interlaced with humorous and heartbreaking memories to create a riveting portrait of a legend and her music. We were spellbound by the performance both of Mary Louise Lee as Lady Day and Trent Hines as Jimmy Powers, her piano player. The set was fantastic and it felt like we were actually at Emerson's. Mary Louise Lee did a phenomenal portrayal of Billie Holiday and man can she sing--left me with goosebumps! Trent Hines was absolutely superb at the piano and as Jimmy. This is definitely a must see production where it transfers you to around 1959 when music was so alive! Absolutely fabulous and so well worth enjoying and experiencing! The entire staff of Vintage Theater is top-notch. Kudos go out to the Director, Betty Hart on this great production. Lady Day will be playing through 18 February 2018 and you can get tickets at vintagetheatre.com. You can purchase drinks/snacks at the bar and bring them into the theatre! Update: The Denver Post provided a Theater Review in the Life & Culture Section of 25 Jan 2018. Although the review was pretty good, I disagree with the reviewer when she stated this wasn't the best example of dramatic theater in town and that the storytelling didn't mention certain issues from the Tony-winning version on Broadway (dealing with her addiction). Well, after seeing this exceptional performance, it was spot on and we got enough information about addiction but it didn't need to be the focus of it. Not all productions need to address or mirror other performances. For this mid-size venue, it was dramatic, intense, touching and it transported us to that time in history where we felt we were actually seeing Billie Holiday singing at Emerson's Bar and Grill!

This theater would get five stars if the temperature were better controlled. As far as I could tell, there is no A/C in the theater, only in the lobby. The lobby bar is great, and there is plenty of room to enjoy a drink before or between acts.

Seating is great, and the performances are reasonably priced. Talent is top notch! Parking could be better, but it's an older part of town.

Came on a Sunday late morning for the AYCE dim sum. I'll start off by saying for $18.99 AYCE dim…read moresum, you can definitely get your monies worth. I came with a few friends and it was a fun experience to try. You start off by ordering with the waitress and then the subsequent rounds, you order off the QR code that's at the table. The restaurant was pretty busy so we had to wait longer than we wanted to place an order. As far as the food, it felt more like baos and dumplings, not so much the classic dim sum styled foods. Another con was that the menu had so many non available items-items that would have completed the dim sum experience a little better. If you want actual dim sum, go somewhere else. It was fun for the experience and value, so I was glad we came once.

Only to find almost HALF the…read moremenu was not available to order or out of stock, yet we arrived before 11:30 am, only two tables and they open at 11. Table next to us says they only come for lunch and feel like they only serve the more wanted items for dinner and just say they are "out" because they've NEVER had it. If that is true, it is highly disappointing. AYCE is 18.99 per person. Here is what we were able to order: 1. Scallion Pancake- good crisp! I liked how light and delicious this bite was 2. Crab Cheese Wonton- these were HOT in terms of temp, but 99% cream cheese so it was okay. 3. Chili Oil Wonton: loved the flavor, however skin was a bit tough, didnt steam long enough. 4. Chicken Wing- very very dry, comes without any sauce or seasoning so its on the side. 5. Pork Bun- a bit dry, but it had a savory flavor too it, not as sweet. 5. Chasu Bun- loved this one more than the 6. Pork Dumpling (did not have Beef)- it was okay, filling was decent, but again the wrapper had a weird bite to it. 7. Soup Dumplings: definitely better than the other dimpling, however they all stuck to the bottom so the wrapper ripped and I never tried the soup. 8. Chicken Feet: i normally love chicken feet but the braised sauce was underwhelming and not very...good? flavorful? 9. House Noodles: the noodles tasted a bit off. Green beans tasted and looked can to me. It just wasn't a favorite. Desserts: 1. Mango was very artificial. 2. Mocha was good, nice chocolatey taste Overall...I dont know if I would be back. I had such high hopes to try the spareribs, taro buns, golden lava buns, beef dumplings, lotus bun, sticky rice, etc. But they were all "out". Again...for an AYCE place at lunch it was $42 before tip and it would've been nice to have the full menu array. The ambiance is very bright and large screens, so it can definitely capture your attention. There was only one main server and she was doing her best.

I purchased 2 tickets ($105 total) to RR to/from the Origin Hotel, only to then have a friend offer to join us and be our DD a day later. I tried to cancel over 48 hours in advance, and they wouldn't budge. My purchase didn't prevent anyone else from booking (I checked, it wasn't sold out), they're just a bunch of greedy a-holes who refuse to give cancellations. Congrats, you got $105 out of me for a service you never provided. Never again.

Not knowing Denver, I randomly picked the Illegal Pete's - Colfax location. Let me just say, that location is in a part of town that is BEYOND SKETCHY! And what made it worse, Illegal Pete's was closed that day. Not knowing that, we arrived early (via Uber) to have dinner there. When I asked the CID rep about food he glanced up and said "plenty of places around here". NOT TRUE!! Across the street was Pete's Diner which was really the only safe option to walk to. While we eat we watched numerous drug deals happening in the 7-11 parking lot across the street. We were also promised drink specials at Illegal Pete's but that was the least of our concerns. The shuttle bus itself is very nice and the drop off/pick up at Red Rocks worked out great. So I'm taking away 2 stars for having folks go to such a bad part of town. Especially for out of town folks who don't know any better.
