Buell Theater

My daughter and I attended The Music Man at the Buell Theater yesterday. It was just terrific. The cast was perfect and the music & dancing were unbelievable! The theater is a great venue and has concessions in the lobby and cup holders at each seat. It was a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon in Denver!

The Buell is always a great venue. This time we were seeing Moulin Rouge. Security was a breeze. The staff is always welcoming and eager to help you find where you need to be. We were up at the top so we took the elevator. Be patient, it takes a bit. Found our seats and enjoyed a great show. At intermission we did have to scoot down to the second floor for a bathroom break. We were back in time before things go going again. At the end, we listened to the pit orchestra play until they finished and we had much less crowd to get through to leave. Overall a great evening.

This was our first experience getting tickets picked up at Will Call. The representatives were very helpful and gave top notch service! The Buell theatre is a great facility!

Wow! Who does not like theatre?! I love it! Definitely so glad Denver has an Arts Complex to come enjoy shows. The Buell is one of my favorites. I've seen quite a few shows here. This night was the Lion King. Excellent performance. The theatre was clean and staff was nice. I love coming here!

First time going and the theatre was great, not a bad seat in the place from what it appeared to me. The parking on the other hand was a nightmare. Getting into the garage wasn't bad but getting out was a relentless nightmare, but that is hardly the theatre's fault but it did impact the experience. I highly recommend but strongly recommend using a car service.

Great shows featured here, but too bad we could only see half the stage. The seat positions are a bit deceiving on the website. We bought orchestra seats, and Ticketmaster shows you have full view of the stage. Come to find out that the edges of the stage are completely blocked from view when sitting in seats 1-7 near the stage. Our entire side was missing, probably because people knew not to get these seats? Oddly enough the show was "sold out" and there was nothing else available on the website, but there were talks of double booking some seats? Don't appreciate how the website is deceptive to "max out" ticket purchases. Orchestra seats are the most expensive- i think partial view should at the very least be indicated if not fully discounted.

Wonderful venue, convenient location close to restaurants to visit before a show. Parking garage is reasonably priced and right across from the theater. Very clean venue, staff was great. Multiple spots to get to get a beverage as well. We sat in the balcony and could see well.

We were in the very last row of the balcony and still had an incredible view of the concert. They had many staff members available to help direct you to your comfortable seats! We were here for the Avatar: The Last Airbender concert. I also found it very convenient that you can order food and drinks ahead of time. This helps avoid the long lines during intermission. This theatre is located amongst a cluster of theaters all next to each other in downtown! I'll be checking out future shows here! Check out what productions and performance are happening on their website.

Beautiful theater. Drinks were a little pricey- but I appreciated the lid for wine. Dasani water: $6 Bathrooms were quick!

Very nice! We had a great theater experience here. We landed, checked out the events for the day and saw WICKED was at the Buell. So we ran down to see if there was an in person lottery...there wasn't. Only on LuckySeats.com PRO TIP: an hour before any show, the remaining tix are half off. We got amazing tickets in the orchestra, 7 rows back! $104.50 each. Balcony was $69.50, mezzanine was $89.50, so we sprung for the Orchestra seats! Wonderful theater experience, and we have been changed "for good!" ‍

Went to see the Phantom of the Opera. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Of course, the show itself was superb! The parking garage also made it very easy to exit too, which was a bonus for me!

Looking for fun and entertainment look no further. The DCPA complex is a amazing place to go. They offer reasonable pricing, the shows are always good, it hard to find a bad show. the are3as is always clean inside and out. It is accessible for all abilities.

Saw the show "And Juliet" on a Friday night. Parked in the garage. Tremendous theatrical experience with a very appreciable and raucous audience. Loved it. Great ushers and seating! Will definitely go again.

Ask the Community - The Buell Theatre

Name of restaurants across the walk at Buell theater?

There is only 1 restaurant directly opposite the Buell Theatre: Prelude + Post. The Corner Office Restaurant & Martini bar is across 14th St.

How long have you waited to get in with new security restrictions?

Not long at all! I just went on Feb. 27th for the opening night of Hamilton and it took maybe 1-2 minutes to get in. It didn't feel any slower than for previous shows. They have a lot of lines and efficiently get people through the metal detectors…

Any suggestion for a nice restaurant near the Buell theatre that is also child (7 yrs old) friendly?

Sam's No. 3 is a great place and not a very far walk. Definitely kid oriented atmosphere and good option with kids. Menu is huge and food is good. Not spectacular, but definitely better than Applebees and Denny's let's just say. Reasonable prices…

They have a large projector screen hooked up to a Nintendo switch with Mario and Zelda games. I actually really enjoyed coloring in the many coloring books they had. They have retro, funky furniture, fun decorations, and merch for sale. The light show itself is a fun time! No videography or photography during, but they do a basic show at the end so people can take photos and videos. You can lay on the floor or back in a pew on one of the many fluffy stuffed pillows and watch and meditate. They have great stoner music too (think Pink Floyd). And of course, the chapel itself is beautiful. No partaking in cannabis while in the building. They keep it family friendly (there were toddlers there when I went, but they were well behaved). The gnome scavenger hunt is a MUST! It made it just a bit more exciting as you stroll through the museum. My boys enjoyed finding the gnomes. Some are easier to spot than others, but the different levels of difficulty makes it more challenging and fun! I like that there are several interactive stations to enhance the learning experience. It also makes it more interesting for younger kids. I appreciate that most of the exhibits had concise information. I do enjoy science, but it's nice to read the main point and move on. For many of the displays, they have small "I Spy" activities and the little ledges make it easy for small children to lean on or stand on for better visualization. Wildlife Halls had beautifully constructed dioramas. The Dinosaur Exhibit is always fun for my boys. Expedition Health was my favorite exhibit. There were some areas under construction/out of order, but that didn't take away from the experience since there was so much to see in general. Did you know that there's a scavenger hunt for gnomes, I think they look more like elves though lol the list of where to find the gnomes can be found on the museums website. This was really fun because it kept me guessing on where to look next, and when we came up to exhibit that supposedly had the gnome, I got to look really close at all the details of that exhibit. There are three levels to the museum, the ground floor, the second level and the third floor. Each one is broken up into different categories. They also have a laser show going on with different songs or movies for the theme. You do need to reserve a spot online so make sure you check out the showtimes, each week is different. I went with a friend and we blocked out three hours for this. The laser show we chose was roughly 30 minutes so we ended the day with the laser show. So the museum itself only took 2 1/2 hours.

According to the park's website, some of the sculptures are 23-foot tall (such as the cherry blossom gate.) It's currently open from Wednesday through Sunday until October 5th. And last night's was one of the adult-only nights where you must be 21+ to enter (I believe the next and last such night is Sept 17th. And this writing is as of late August of 2025.) I am already curious as to what the next year's theme is going to be. There is a centralized bar, some food vendors, a stage where a performer performs, and a DJ booth. Great for family time, girls' night or date night. Helpful staff were working tirelessly to assist all visitors. Although about 1,300 tickets were sold last night, it was never super jammed packed. There is still time to visit this enchanting light show. Not only for the locals but definitely one of the must-visit attractions for out-of-staters as well.

I've seen some amazing acts here over the years. And I very much appreciate how much they help develop up-and-coming local comedians. Yeah, there is a two drink and/or item minimum. This doesn't bother me. I'm not someone who really goes out to see comedy and NOT drink. Honestly, my biggest complaint would be the chairs being bolted down. It can get a little tight down there for larger folks. I totally get it, they don't have to keep moving them around back to position, and they can definitely maximize the space. I went for an earlier show so we ended up waiting outside in line before they let us in. You do have to pay for your tickets in advance online and then you pick them up at will call. The problem is the person who bought the ticket needs to physically go and show your ID so make sure that you're committed. It's first come first serve so if you want a good seat upfront, make sure you show up early. They also partnered with a restaurant next-door so if you eat at the restaurant, then you're guaranteed a front row spot. The Comedy show has a two item minimum. I really enjoy this because I don't drink so being able to get two items instead of having to get two drinks is a great option. This time around, I got the chicken basket that comes with fries as my first item and then a cookie sundae as my second item. Both were definitely overpriced for what they were, but besides that it was fine. Definitely order your food as soon as you sit down because the longer you wait the longer it's gonna take to get your order and when they start piling everybody in the orders tend to back up. They also take your phone when you first go in so make sure you have it on do not disturb and they'll also take your smart watch. They put them in the secured bags and then you take the bag with you so your phone is always with you. You just can't access it until the end of the show. Overall, I like this Comedy location because of the two item minimum. I just wish the prices were a little more fair. If they drop the prices, I would definitely order more than two items and probably still pay the same amount that I did for the two items that I had to pay for.
