My First Ear, Nose, and Throat Visit…read more I've been suffering with a runny nose forever now. Finally bit the bullet and decided to see a specialist. I found Dr. Terkonda on my provider website. My primary focus was finding an in-network provider. I was pleasantly surprised by how personable everyone was, and the office is super nice - upscale! Dr. Terkonda is supremely skilled and thoughtful. It was a great first experience!

Well, lo and behold at 1am I had this issue. Went to the ER, they could not find the source of the bleeding. I was passing large blood clots, the blood was steady, bright red, and filling my gauze in less than 10 minutes. I even started coughing up blood because there was so much. I was in the ER for FIVE HOURS. And called this office FIVE TIMES for emergency help. They never called back. Just kept telling me to call again in 30 minutes if no one got in touch with me. It took me 4 and a half hours to stop the bleeding enough to try and go home to rest with NO help. I am terrified to actually rinse my nose out again because I am worried it will kickstart the bleeding and I won't be able to get it to stop a second time by rinsing out the clots that formed during this whole ordeal. This is a medical emergency according to their paperwork and instructions and they NEVER called us back. Not to help the ER doc. Not to evaluate. I had to handle this nightmare with nothing but a nose clamp (2 and a half hours wearing it at the ER) and my husband's love and support. This treatment is dangerous and absolutely ABYSMAL. When instructions are given and promptly followed and you don't even care enough to reach out and help your patients when they are going through what you labeled as a SERIOUS ISSUE, then the practice is bordering on malpractice. DO NOT GO HERE. They will not help you, or the docs who are trying to help you.

It's so surreal. Dr Shah is so supportive and even more excited to see my own progress than I was able to actualized once I got my stints out and can feel the surgery actualized. I arrived for a hearing test and to investigate hearing loss and pressure in my left ear. My hearing was in-fact worse in my left ear according to the hearing test results. After the test and waiting half an hour in the examination room for Dr. Reichman to come in, I decided to open the door and see if they had forgotten about me. A couple minutes later, Dr. Reichman comes in, spends tops 3 minutes looking in my ears and mouth, and tells me I'm fine then walks out of the room and said I could leave. It was clear he didn't care to understand the problem and just wanted to move on with his day. Overall it was a pretty big waste of time and money (aside from getting the hearing test results). Now I'm on my own again to find out what's actually happening with my ear. Save yourself some time and frustration and see a different ENT doctor other than Dr. Reichman.

No diagnosis.., just irrigate and come back if I still can't breath though my nose and they will do a procedure that his not approved by insurance. Ugh, So found another ENT who ordered a CT scan and diagnosed polyps and chronic sinisitus. Prescribed meds and finally feeling better. Also said the procedure "recommended" as a next step by MHO was counter indicated based on the CT scan findings. Ugh. Interesting aside is that that the doc didn't read the intake paperwork before we met. Didn't know my age nor why I was there. Also did a hearing test, found a high frequency hearing loss and recommended hearing aids. Ordered and fitted. Ten minute appointment to adjust. Horrible fit, noisy, clicks and the software didn't work. Eventually the charger melted and ruined the hearing aids. They charged me $250 to return them. I am not making that up. They also lectured me for causing the melting of charger because I "should have known" not to use a generic USB-C cable. Seriously. Went to another audiologist and was tested for free, recommended aids that were $1200 cheaper than Mile High and they spent an hour calibrating them via some sophisticated equipment and software to ensure perfect sound. Incredible experience. The software is better, the warranty is better, the sound is much better and experience was exceptional in comparison. A quick aside is the reception and lead nurse are lovey humans. Funny and nice. My recommendation is to think twice before scheduling with MHO

I shared my insecurities about my nose, it was crooked, too large and had a hump. I was told a combined septo-rhinoplasty would help both function and appearance. I asked for a very natural result and stressed that breathing was my top priority. Ginger reassured me I was in the best hands, emphasizing that he would revise until I was happy. Which should've been a red flag. Recovery was manageable and not too painful. When the cast came off, I was in shock. As the swelling went down, my nose looked more asymmetrical, scarred, and unnatural. And most disappointingly, my breathing hadn't improved, if anything, it was worse. Six months later, I underwent a revision septoplasty with Dr Menachof which made no significant difference. I'm now over two years post surgery, breathing has not improved. My cosmetic concerns have been brushed off and they have referred me to a cosmetic surgeon who can do filler in the nose. I refuse to do any filler and can't believe this is my result. Only recently did I discover that during the original surgery, Dr. Menachof had performed radiofrequency coblation turbinate reduction, something I wasn't clearly informed about or given the chance to fully understand the risk of Empty Nose Syndrome, and I now live with symptoms that match it, my right nostril feels painfully dry and obstructed despite it being wide open. My left nostril is constantly leaking and it seems to have only gotten worse over time, and all efforts to remedy it do not help. It's exacerbated I do any type of exercise, eating, talking, etc. It is humiliating, frustrating and a constant reminder of this mistake I made. Despite multiple follow-ups, Dr. Menachof continued to dismiss my concerns, saying everything "looks great" and that I'm just one of the unlucky ones. I wish I could undo the decision to trust him. I look back at old photos and realize I never needed this surgery and certainly not with this provider. I am beyond devastated and frustrated with my results and functional issues I now experience. I've become depressed and no longer can enjoy the things I used to in this life. If you're considering rhinoplasty, I strongly urge you to reconsider. I wish someone had warned me. Just know it is possible to have worse nasal function and appearance than what you have now, don't take it for granted like I did. I will not post photos here but there are some on other platforms.

A year ago, my primary care doc sent me to Dr. Nicolette Picerno (ENT) at Associates of Otolaryngology after a series of ear infections. (Yes, you can get them as an adult! And yes, I agree with the crying babies and kids out there--ear infections hurt!). This year, I had another run with chronic ear aches. My ENT then suggested that I get an allergy test to pinpoint the cause of my sinus/ear congestion. It turns out that The Associates of Otolaryngology group is associated with Allergy Consultants--very convenient. In fact, they share a lobby. The staff at Allergy Consultants have a challenging job. They're giving allergy shots to dozens of patients each day. Let's face it--most people don't like needles and shots. And the thing about allergy shots is that it's a therapy with a long life cycle--there's no instant gratification here. Really, I think the staff is the best! I've only known them for about a month, but I trust them as experts in their field. A 90-minute allergy consultation plus 20-minute bi-weekly visits for shots will do that, build rapport. It's a bonus that they're not only good at what they do, but they're also good company. After all, I'll be seeing them weekly for the next three to five years for my allergy shots. (I've suffered from spring and fall allergies my entire life and I'm so glad that I've committed to a solution that will benefit me for a lifetime.) The staff has taken the opportunity to get to know me as an individual, and I'm learning more about them with each visit, too. I trust them with more than just my shots, though. First, I lent them my ER DVDs. (For a girl that's addicted to medical dramas, that shows how much I really like them.) And in honor of Halloween coming up, I lent my Twilight series DVDs. (Those are dear to me, as well. The Twilight books rock, too, BTW!) So in summary, I'm saying this is a 5-star operation! (Now, if I could only remember to check-in every time I visit them.... We're always chatting, so the time I spend there flies.)
