Ended our day talking to Denver PD about harassment from this woman: I hired Donni to do a behavior consult because he pulls towards dogs on walks. She had a hippie-looking website where she referenced Cesar Millan, whose books I've read, and reasonable rate (I thought) for a dog who does not have extensive problems. We told her that we use a Herm Sprenger prong collar and she said "great!" When I gave it to her to put on, she said it was way too tight and she needed to add links. I've paid for a leash reactivity course from a trainer where an entire episode is about fitting the HS specifically. It is supposed to be high on the neck, behind the ears, and stay in place so that the trachea protector *protects the trachea.* She added three links so it was hanging, and put it on backwards. The rest of the session was okay. We went outside, practiced some structured walking and met a couple dogs on leash. I told her sometimes we use enrichment/mental games like a snuffle mat for food or his Kong, other food puzzles and she told me that was not helpful to him at all. No pushback, that's her 'professional' opinion. About 2 hours in, she asked why we even needed her help, because our dog was "perfect" (her words). It was fine, my partner and I agreed that night it was a 4/10 experience but we paid her and had already agreed to the dog park the next day. It was fine. We left after about an hour, because it was 10:45am on a workday. She wished us well and told us to keep her updated. AT 2:30 PM THE SAME DAY, she started texting me. The messages were barely English. The "expert" berated me every 2-10 minutes with a new text. I did not respond, but screenshots are attached. Saying she was my dog's "emissary," that she was going to call Animal Control - which I now see is a common threat she throws out, that our dog is very unhappy, and that I don't give a s*** about my dog and I'm arsenic for him. Six texts in, we tried to call her to peaceably figure out why she was saying all these vile things. My partner texted her, asking to get on the phone to talk about what was going on and find a solution and "Blocked" was her answer to him. She would not pick up so after !!! 13 texts !!! we contacted the non-emergency line. So unprofessional, invasive, and frankly slanderous. I hired and paid a trainer because I love my dog and wanted to fine-tune our walk, not because I am a neglectful owner who doesn't care. To anyone still reading: Learn from my mistake. Spend a little more money. Do a little more digging. Hire someone who will not harass you. This lady is nuts I had her come to work with my dog's for leash training and work with my older females agressive behavior she did the leash training and some training in the home but needed to do work with both dogs on socializing so the next day I met her by herself with 5 other dogs when I was told other clients would be there, I did the training with no issues but a comment about me talking to others at the dog park and not paying attention to my dog ( I was asked what kind of dog he was that's it) and then the crazy started that night with inappropriate text to the point the police were involved to get her to stop texting!

I adopted a rescue rez dog and as sweet and gentle as he his I really had my hands full after our first week. He had separation anxiety and was kind of pushy, and this being my first dog I didn't know much about how to communicate with him. My cats were terrified even though he was merely curious and we had baby gates all over the house trying to keep things under control. He would whine every time I left his sight and jumped all over me. As cute as it was, I learned in this session that behavior is not affection, it's dominance, which actually stresses the dog out. In a 2 hour session at my home the Denver Dog Whisperer showed us everything we needed to know. The body language and subtle sounds she taught us (instead of words and clickers I read about online) helped turn my pup into a calm, happy creature who now sleeps peacefully at the foot of my bed. Now I can garden, hike, and road trip with him! I feel like I can handle him in almost any situation and he is absolutely the perfect pup for me.

Very rude for not having met me or my dog. What an odd way to gain a new client.

I reached out to get some help leash training my new dog, and when we couldn't decide on a time this person got very rude towards me.

The final conversation had between the "whisperer" and myself.

I used bark.com as a third party service to find a trainer to help with my pup's newfound dog aggression. I clicked on a few profiles, one of them being the Denver Dog Whisperer. The website sent me an automated notification stating that they were interested in taking me on as a client. I recieved a text an hour or so later from the "dog whisperer" stating they would be happy to work with me. I then recieved another, less professional text, after which they attempted to call me. This then culminated into the conversation I have attached. It was the most rude, unprofessional conversation I have ever had with someone claiming to run an upstanding business.

Our service with Donni started out fine, she was fine on the phone, okay in person. We did the 3 hour home consult with her where we learned her tactics. While we were unsure about some of them and found many of them odd, we were open and asking questions so that we could understand everything. After meeting with her again for a play date at the dog park she began texting and accusing us of making our dog anxious, not listening to her (I literally took notes when she was at our home), and saying we wouldn't be able to help our dog. They way she texts is hard to decipher and if you don't understand the way she trains to a T you are doing everything wrong. Our dog was a rescue who was extremely fearful when we got her and she had come a super long way before we ever decided to reach out for training. She demanded she take care of her which left us feeling very uncomfortable. Our dog is anxious and nervous but not to a level where she should be this concerned. She was harassing us via text and calling. Extremely rude and unprofessional. After reading other reviews I was shocked and so thankful we decided not to move forward with any other service. I am absolutely dumbfounded as to how this woman is still in business, I would not recommend her to anyone under any circumstances. See photos for texts.

So we got two puppies- I know, this is not the best idea- but we did it, and it's been a very rewarding experience so far largely in part because of the Denver Dog Whisperer- our three hour session started promptly on time and was enjoyed by our whole family! Jonni was informative supportive and encouraging and left us feeling more confident about our puppy raising skills. She reminded us that our puppies need structure and routines and that we are in charge of dictating that for our pups. She taught us how to work through changing unwanted behaviors and building up these pups. Today- one week after her visit we walked the puppies in leashes for almost a mile! They loved it and did great! I never would have thought to put a leash on them at 10 weeks but after one week if practice we have overcome that hurdle! Denver Sig Whisperer was able to teach us about each puppies temperament and give us personalized suggestions to help them thrive! The price was a way better value than others around and excellent service! Thank you!

We've really benefited from one-on-one training, and within just a few sessions, we are seeing a difference. Be ready to do the work with your dog! If you take the tools and techniques Jose teaches and implement them, it'll work, and you'll be happy and have a well-behaved dog! Additionally, his prices are some of the fairest I found after interviewing several dog trainers. He takes the approach of letting me lead in what I think my dog needs, but also offers his opinions. Thanks, Jose!

Car rides were awful, we had to cover our windows so he would not react to people or dogs walking by, and he even reacted to cartoon dogs on TV. He also started showing aggression toward our other dog. We had tried multiple training classes before and things were only getting worse. After Jose's 16 day program Otis came home like a completely different dog. Even after the first few days we could see his confidence growing and every group class showed more progress. Other dog owners even commented on how much he had changed. I truly never thought I would see Otis running around playing with other dogs but now he is a normal, happy dog. Jose fixed him and completely changed his life and ours. This is the best money we have ever spent and I will always be grateful. I cannot recommend him enough!

She did a great job not only training Nash and Parker, but also teaching us how to maintain and build on what they learned once they came home. The follow‑up sessions were incredibly helpful and showed how much she cares about long‑term results, not just quick fixes. We saw noticeable improvements in behavior, responsiveness, and overall confidence in both dogs. It's clear Quinn is passionate about what she does, and we felt comfortable knowing our dogs were in great hands. I would highly recommend Quinn to anyone looking for a skilled and dedicated dog trainer

She brings such a calm, knowledgeable, and thoughtful approach to training, and it's clear how much she genuinely cares about the dogs she works with. We saw real progress with our dog, Kendrick, in a relatively short amount of time. What truly set this experience apart, though, was how Quinn handled a scary and unexpected situation. During Kendrick's initial board-and-train, he had a seizure. Quinn stepped in immediately, took great care of him, and kept us informed while we rushed home. Knowing he was with someone so attentive and compassionate made an incredibly stressful moment much easier. On top of that, Pavlov honored the remaining portion of his training, and Quinn welcomed him back once he was ready to complete the program. That level of flexibility and integrity speaks volumes. We're so grateful for Quinn -- not just for the training, but for the trust and care she showed when it mattered most. Highly recommend.

Now at 9 months old, after 6 lessons and weeks of practice, practice, practice, he is a different dog. I never thought there could be such a difference in a dog in such a short time. Jesse was afraid of so much. He had to learn how to go up and down stairs and be comfortable riding in a car. Every noise on a walk startled him -- birds, cars, loud noises, other dogs, people, everything. Walking with him was a horrible experience. He pulled and sniffed constantly, lunged at people and other dogs. Nothing I did was helping because I had no idea of what to do. He wasn't much better in the house. He had no boundaries. He would not stay in one place for any length of time. He couldn't be in the backyard because he constantly ate the mulch and chewed holes in the grass. Thank goodness I found Jack! All of that has changed - in 3 months! Because of what Jack has taught me, I now am able to successfully communicate with my dog and help him gain the confidence he needs to be his best self. His energy has mellowed since he no longer has the need to take control of everyone and everything. His walks are enjoyable - even off leash. Yes, Jesse can be off leash and we hike the trails in Boulder. He comes when called and he will walk beside me with no leash if I ask him to. It's really unbelievable. There are so many things I could tell you about my amazing dog and what he can do. But you can experience it yourself if any of this sounds familiar. If you are willing to put in the time to work with you dog and do what Jack or Alex tells you, I have every reason to believe you will have great results. My daughter worked with Alex and followed her advice. She was certain her dog would never stop chasing rabbits and squirrels or be trusted off leash as well as numerous other problems. After 3 months, she too has had amazing results and now a well-behaved dog. We hike together -- with our dogs off leash. I continue to use the foundation, techniques, and education Jack provided as I continue training with Jesse. There is always room for improvement and new things for both of us to learn. I really could not have managed Jesse without Jack's help. I will always be grateful.

Everything from Pomeranians to Labrador and Golden Retrievers and every breed, temperament and personality in between. It's easy to find trainers but it can be really hard to find a GOOD trainer! Over the years, we've spent thousands on dog behavior veterinarians, breed specific trainers, and your basic pet store group classes. All of these can work for some dogs, but not all. We lost our two black Labrador brothers this past summer to age related health problems. We were completely devestated. We didn't know if we could do it again until Jack decided for us. Jack is a male Bichon mix rescue, but who rescued who? Jack rescued us - literally ! When we got Jack home we wanted to start out on the right foot immediately. We used two online trainings - waste of money and time. We asked, searched and found several self-proclaimed and "guaranteed results" trainers. You had a time limited training. From past training experiences, if your dog didn't learn everything in that timeframe you were left feeling frustrated and confused as to what to do next. Then we found Adrienne at Bark Busters. They aren't inexpensive, but when we found out they would be partners for the life of our dog, we were hooked. In over 40 years of our dogs and training, Adrienne is the ONLY trainer who actually knows what she's doing. Jack began training as a timid puppy who then developed into a defiant teenager with an attitude. Adrienne has given us the tools and behavioral changes we needed to make to consistently provide Jack with age appropriate expectations. We now understand how to think like a dog and speak "dog". Jack is becoming calm and confident that we are the leaders and he can enjoy being a puppy. Thank you Adrienne!

About a year ago, our dog Maddie (who was 5 at the time) went through ACA's one-month immersion training program. Going into it, she was quite reactive - especially toward other dogs, and occasionally toward people as well. We were hopeful the program would help curb her aggressiveness and make her a better overall canine citizen. The results truly exceeded our expectations. Maddie's temperament noticeably softened, and she became far less reactive in situations that used to trigger her. In addition to that transformation, ACA did an excellent job reinforcing all the foundational commands - "here," "place," "heel," "sit," "stay," etc. Just as importantly, they didn't just train Maddie - they equipped us with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to continue building on that foundation at home. One of the most impressive aspects of ACA is their ongoing support. Their commitment doesn't end when the program does - they stay with you for the life of your dog. They offer weekly group training sessions for all program graduates, (free of charge!), which have been incredibly valuable. These sessions are run by their trainers, who are always available to provide real-time guidance on any challenges you are facing. The group setting itself is a huge benefit. It gives both dogs and owners the opportunity to practice skills in a controlled environment, with distractions, which is essential for real-world success. As an owner, I've learned a tremendous amount from these sessions and rarely miss a week. If you are looking for a training program that delivers real results and long-term support, I highly recommend American Canine Academy.
