UPDATE: After seeing my previous review they reached out to me and offered to do my cleaning and that any dental work that I needed after that would be on the house. After my cleaning, I did not need any fillings or anything that had a cost. A they credited my account $200 towards anything in the future. They also explained that there billing was done off site, but because of the amount of complaints they were receiving they decided to do it in house instead. Glad to see the change and that they seemed to have a genuine desire to make the situation right. I have since referred my sons mother to the practice. read more

The only thing that made this place great was Dr. Kayvan Shahrzad. He is awesome and a professional and truly care for his clients. I thoroughly enjoyed getting work done with him despite my hesitation of going to the dentist. Unfortunately I was informed that he no longer works there. Very sad. One gripe is, the receptionist Tiffany she is curt and rude. I thought it was only me that thought so but upon looking through reviews, I am not alone. There is always been an etiquette that a receptionist should process, and that customer service to a business where you are the first thing that establish meets the customer to keep coming back or invite others for recommendations. She does not represent the brand of this business. She hounded me down for 90 dollars after me paying thousands of dollars. Threatened to send the invoice into Collections. I've read a few reviews in here with similar interactions with Tiffany, and I'm glad to know it's not just me. I called in today to make an appointment, but before I could, she made sure to remind me of my 90 dollars I need to pay. In which I said I will pay once I come in. Before I could make an appointment she hung seems frustrated and hung up the phone one me. HR needs to talk to her about her behavior. read more

If you're a professional person that value your life's accomplishments this is not the dentist office for you. I visited this practice twice and provided both primary and secondary insurances. They submitted charges to both and was left with a balance. Instead of contacting me the balance was sent to collections. When I called and asked why I wasn't contacted instead of a collection agency. She could not answer. I know this didn't effect my credit score but the thought is irritating and a poor professional practice. read more

I started going to Dental Serenity when Dr. Donaldson was still here and enjoyed the experience. I stayed on when the new dentist took over the practice and it was still pretty good. However, in the last year I've seen changes in the practice that have made me decide to find a new dentist. I'm beginning to feel nickel and dimed for everything. For example: if you don't reschedule in 48 hours you are charged $75. This is utterly ridiculous considering that emergencies happen. The cost of fluoride has gone from $25 to $40. The last blow which made me finally decide to never come back is the 3% credit card charge if you don't use a debit card. As we all know dental charges can get costly depending on your needs. While I like Dr. Shahrzad as a dentist, I've always felt like the goose that lays the golden egg when I come here. It's one big procedure after another. The last straw was when I got a cleaning and the technician said I have 8 cavities behind my upper front teeth. When Dr. Shahrzad did the checkup, he looked in another part of my mouth and said "ooohhh." It felt likea long con. Fast forward 8 months. I just visited a new dentist who after a mouth full of x rays said I was fine. I didn't need any work but do schedule a cleaning. I asked about the back of my front upper teeth and he said one filled cavity was discolored but no action was needed. read more

I came here only because I wanted to see if I could find a closer dentist to my house and because I seen an article in a magazine for a black female dentist....which I never even saw even when I requested her! I should have known something was up! Big mistake! First visit last year I was told I had a cavity which I never had in over 37-years..ok I'm no dentist fix it my insurance covers it! Come to find out they didn't properly smooth out the filling which my regular dentist found! And let me tell you it was painful as hell for him to do it right! Listen, I dont like going to the dentist! I woke up in PAIN and this place was open on a Saturday. This was the Best decision I made this year. Dental Serenity has been my safe place as it pertains to finding a dentist that makes me feel comfortable. I have a serious phobia of the dentist after my last dentist office and I came to Dental Serenity and they made me feel extremely comfortable and after over a year I confidentially walk into Dental Serenity without any concerns or worries. If I do have questions or concerns they assure me that I am in great hands. I walk out knowing that at any moment if I feel as if something is wrong with my teeth I can call them and they get me in the same day or the day after and fix my issue. No matter how big or small. I would like everyone to please beware of dental serenity! Watch your bill! My review/ experience: These people are a bunch of crooks! The lady came out telling me I need to bring the entire family with how good my insurance is! Mind you this is a huge turn off to me and they recommended services that were cosmetic and not needed! On top of that they billed the insurance for nutritional counseling which we never received unless you count telling me not to give my four year old juice or milk which I rolled my eyes at and told her that we prefer to leave those matters to his pediatricians! She never said two words to me about my 12 or 16 year olds diet yet billed $80 dollars each for it and when the insurance refused to pay it they billed me! They also billed me for a few other services we did not get. We went in for the kids to have their teeth cleaned and ended up with a $550 bill! When I called the office to complain I was told the owner would call me and still have not gotten that call 3 months later! Instead they removed my name from the bill and put it in the name of my husband who is the insurance policy holder and is not even the biological parent to two of the children and is in no way responsible for the bill! Monday I will be reporting them to the insurance commission for insurance fraud! Beware of these scammers!! read more

Think twice before if you want your treatment done here. They're not trustworthy and very pricey. At first we're agreed with the package they offered which around 6k for one implant included everything until it done. But no it turned out more than this. We came back today for the check-up and they said her tooth needs more boning but I have to pay another 2k to get it done. Total cost for one implant is 8k. I felt like I just got robbed but couldn't do anything about it. Maybe 8k it not alot for them but it's a lot of money for us cause we have to finance for it. So do not coming here if you don't want to be robbed like me. read more

Update: My dental journey with Dental Serenity began around January 22nd of this year. This review was initially done 3 months ago. All of it feels like a lifetime ago. It has been a very long & costly journey. I think it all would have been a bit less rocky if the communication had been clearer. I have spent a lot of time waiting on poorly communicated timelines. All this being said, it's my fault. I should have asked more questions, and insisted on more defined timelines. Perhaps even gotten a second opinion. They took care of everything that I needed to have done and went above and beyond to help me. April was amazing. She was caring and made sure that I was completely comfortable. I spent $2000 here for them to do some fillings on my teeth and they did a very poor and sloppy job. After the fillings, I walkways felt like there was something stuck between my teeth. A few weeks after I got the fillings, I was flossing and one of my teeth chipped off. A month after that another tooth chipped and then soon after that a third tooth chipped. I've never had that happen before in my life and after I spend all that money here and they drill my teeth, my teeth literally start falling apart. They don't stand behind their work. They didn't fix anything and on top of that they said I owe them another $250 when I was supposed to have paid for everything up front. They also said the amount I owed was $160 at first and then they changed it and said they made a mistake and I owe $250 more. Terrible experience here and they do very sloppy work. They have TVs in every station which is very relaxing to help you take your mind off of the work. The also have soft music playing which again helps you relax in a what can be a very stressful experience. They are very professional quick and clean. Dr Morris is very gentle and concerned about how you feel during your procedure constantly checking to ensure things are going well for you. If it's a little uncomfortable she will change her approach to your procedure making sure to get the best results with the least amount of discomfort to you. The staff was very attentive and was able to complete several procedures in one visit which is great when you have a busy schedule It was a great experience for someone who hates going to the dentist and I am not hesitate about my next visit !!! read more

My first time going to Dental Serenity, I was supposed to just get a cleaning. Obviously I've been to the dentist before so I know what a cleaning feels like. They did NOT clean my teeth. They just scraped my teeth and pretty much told me I needed to get my wisdom teeth out. I came out of their office thinking it would have been more effective to just brush my teeth than have them "clean" my teeth. Since moving to Prince William County, this has been my third dentist and my last. The dental staff are are also friendly and professional. This dental office has truly been the best dental office I've ever been to! They offer services from children to adults and even offer a insurance plan that is affordable and dependable. The office is relaxed and once you get to you seat they even offer you a comfort menu filled with things that could make your visit even more pleasant. Today I had the pleasure of having Amy S. and Carrie! While my sister was in the seat and they took X-rays they made it fun despite her horrible gag reflex she wasn't in any pain and thought that the entire experience was funny and the lengths that they went through to make sure she was comfortable was extraordinary. Amy S. went over our options as far as treatment sand spoke with us each step of the way. I use to have a fear of the dentist because of a past experience with a dental office in Woodbridge, but I'm already making an appointment for the near future and I'm excited to finish my sisters treatment plan and begin my own. I love, love, love this place. Everyone is so nice. I'm big on customer service and I found no issues here. They really care about your teeth here. I felt a big emphasis on education. They even show how to properly brush your teeth. I know your thinking how hard can it be but I guess hard tooth brushes are a no no and I was brushing my teeth at the wrong angle. My first visit to Dental Serenity and I love it! From the moment I walked in the door I felt comfortable. Dr. Sarah, Nikita, Pam, Hiwot, and Ashley were all professional and friendly. Dr. Sarah gave me treatment options in clear detail. In addition to xrays, they take photos of your teeth. My family and I received care at Dental Serenity for 3 years before we fired them. Here's why. First, we were receiving too many "unexpected" bills in the mail for services we thought were already paid for. I always asked how much the insurance cover and the amount we had to pay and before leaving each visit, I ALWAYS settled any fees or bills that I owe from the care provided. Second, they were billing us for missed appointments that THEY scheduled. Again, I didn't schedule these appointments...THEY did, and charged me for missing them!? I was very upset behind this and told them to NEVER schedule me for an appointment. If I need an appointment, I will call them! Finally, and this was definitely the breaking point for me, a filling they provided was done so poorly that the tooth broke off weeks later after the filling was completed. I probably could have gone back to have them repair the tooth but at that point, I was done with Dental Serenity. I initially chose Dental Serenity because they were so conveniently located to where we live in the Southbridge community. Sadly, the service was so poor I will gladly drive further to receive quality dental care. read more

Location is 5 stars. Facility is 5 stars in area for treatments. Lobby is 3 stars due to very small for the amount of people that are treated. Needs to be at minimum twice the size it currently is. Currently it seats 7 people comfortably. 1 star for those who do billing and treatment plans. Too long of story to list which includes 3 separate appointments but with each one there were inconsistent billing and what is charged to me. Dental Hygienist is 3 stars. They work very quickly but do not do a thorough and gentle job. 50-50 chance of leaving you with injured gums even with kids who do not have gingivitis or cavities. Customer service is 5 stars. They are ALWAYS friendly and let you know if people cancel so you can take that appointment. Dentists are friendly and so far efficient in the procedures that we have had completed. Mostly cleanings, exams, and fillings. So 5 stars for the Dentists. They do expect you to pay BEFORE they complete any procedures so 1 star for that. First dental office that I had to do this. Saturday appointments available but only for cleanings so I give that 4 stars. Latest appointment during the week is 6 pm so 4 stars for that. read more

I googled and found this dental office which is only 5 minutes from my house which is extremely convenient. When I first got there, they were prompt in checking me and even gave me and my two children a tour of the office. I thought that was a nice touch! They were gentle and friendly with my children ages 12 & 5 who seemed to like being there unlike other places we've been before. There is a TV going on the waiting area which played helpful info about caring for your teeth. I ended up buying the Oral B toothbrush with Bluetooth and 5 brush heads for $125 (but only 4 came in the box). I've been back twice for my deep cleaning and both experiences were amazing. I love my dental hygienist who encourages me to take care of my teeth and helps me plan out my dental care plan. I'm happy to say this is my new dental home. The staff is caring, down to earth, and professional. If you're looking for a new dentist to take care of you and make you a priority...this is the place! read more

Absolutely wonderful experience!!! The staff was incredibly thorough, and incredibly sweet! Very luxurious feeling the moment you walk through the door! I actually understood what was going on with my teeth and the staff walked me through my options and were just so helpful! Extra points for the flat screens and gourmet coffee!! There was never a moment when I felt unsure of what was going on and the staff really make sure you have a firm grasp on everything before any work is done as well as while the work is being done!
