The dental office on post lost my trust after the dentist there and his assistant (who are super nice BTW) dropped instruments during my appointment to get a temporary crown. Not only that, but after 3 days the temporary crown fell out when I was eating a sandwich (not something that was even that hard)!! Additionally, when I called the Fort Leavenworth clinic about it, they said that having a temporary crown fall out after 3 days was normal! I just don't see that as being the case. All these shenanigans was after getting referred for a root-canal that should've been followed within 3-6 weeks with the temporary crown. Fort Leavenworth forced me into the above appointment 7-8 weeks after the root-canal and basically told me "tough" at their front desk and to "just be careful" with the tooth that just received the root-canal. Needless to say, that's when I started wondering if I could go somewhere else. The on post dental clinic is severely lacking in customer service at their front desk and a level of competence that I'm comfortable with. After calling TRICARE (insurance) for my procedures, they gave me a list that I whittled down to a couple places. I eventually chose Olathe Smiles Dentistry because they could do all of the procedures I needed AND do them all in one day with NO follow-up appointments (pending any unanticipated complications). The dental clinic (Ebony) on post very begrudgingly set up the referral for me. No one likes confrontation, but I am SO glad I put an end to my suffering at their hands. Olathe Smiles Dentistry was great from when I checked in (Ebony screwed up the insurance referral paperwork that Olathe Smiles front desk ladies fixed PROACTIVELY), to the assistants and the doctors. First, I saw Trish who works with the periodontist Dr. McKenzie. She got me x-rays and helped out during my root lengthening. "Root lengthening" really should be called something else because it's when they cut out gums from around your tooth and sometimes grind down bone. I was nervous going in. However, both Trish and Dr. McKenzie were hilarious and their conversations REALLY set me at ease and took my mind off of the procedure. Immediately following that appointment (same day) I moved from one room to another for the permanent crown to be put in. Dr. Rawalt and Benita (I think) were the ones helping with that. They were both great as well! I can't express how thankful I am to go to one place for fixing the shenanigans related to that one tooth. Even with a sore jaw right now, I am extremely relieved to have gotten the procedures done by a staff that was not only VERY customer service oriented, they showed empathy through distracting and hilarious conversation (anthropology, Star Wars, toddler hyjinx...), and they were competent as well as efficient. In response to some of the previous reviews regarding payment of dental services, I would like to say that several times when I was given an estimnated cost of service, the actual fees were less than originally stated. I was not asked to pay the original amount and then wait for a refund. I was asked to pay the adjusted amount (which was a nice surpirse to pay less than anticipated.) As a senior citizen, I would recommend Dr. Moore and Dr. Tayhlor Sutherland to anyone who needs a little extra patience when having dental work performed.

I was sitting in an exam room waiting for the dentist and overheard a conversation amongst staff/drs talking poorly about a patient in a very innapropriate and rude manner. It made me pretty uncomfortable but I have really bad dental anxiety and getting there in the first place was a big step so I wanted to follow through. That day I needed a root canal and two crowns so it was a very long appointment. I felt left in the dark throughout the way and Wendy was not super friendly. Not rude but not comforting either. After that I had to make two appointments for cleanings and a cavity. They messed up my appointments and the hygienist almost numbed me on the wrong side, I explained that I had a cavity needing filled and it needed to be the correct side for the numbing. She switched sides and finished. She was also not very attentive or kind, super rough and not gentle while working in my mouth. Today I went back for my third and final appointment. At reception, I reminded them about the cavity and they said it was on the other side, and I said so should that have been done last week? They completely missed it. I was upset and flustered; I have a lot of anxiety around this, and was informed I could get it all done today but that my entire mouth would have to be numbed. It was so traumatizing last week when she gave me the shots that I was shaking after. I decided to suck it up and just get it done and be done with it. The same hygienist from the week prior, Anastasia, came to take me back and asked how I was doing, I was honest and told her not good, and told her why, she decided instead of just apologizing and understanding, that she'd rather argue with me about what happened. I've been so uncomfortable every single time I've been in this office and I finally decided that was enough. I'll find somewhere else. To be honest I'd rather drive an hour to my old dentist in my old town than ever go to this office again. All of this to also say that the way they price things and charge you for things feels pretty scammy, or maybe they're just way overpriced. Another reason I should have trusted my gut on the first day. STAY AWAY, Find someone who will be nice to you while they drill holes in your teeth. Find someone who won't talk shit about you in front of other patients. Find someone who will numb you in the correct location. Please.

He didn't want to oversee my care because of the possibility that there would be complications and, basically, he didn't want to deal with those complications down the line. Also, they billed me under the Delta Dental code 9310 so they could charge the full rate, rather than D0140, under which I could have gotten the discounted DD rate. I'm sure he's a skilled surgeon, but he prioritizes $$ over patient's well-being.

When I reached out for clarification, Christy Loudermill, who I was told was the "billing manager" (which already confused me, considering her title is practice administrator), handled the situation in a way that was honestly shocking to me. Her response came off cold, dismissive, and completely uninterested in the fact that their mistake had real consequences for me. Instead of taking ownership or offering real help, the explanation was basically a quick brush-off labeled as "human error," as if that magically excused everything. What made it worse was the tone -- like I was the inconvenience for asking why I was suddenly expected to pay far more than what Christy herself had confirmed. There was no sense of accountability, no recognition of the office's own miscommunication, and absolutely zero acknowledgment of the impact this caused. The entire situation left me feeling like accuracy and transparency simply weren't priorities for her. And the fact that someone in the office even referred to her as the "billing manager" just added to the mess. When the people working there can't even get titles straight, it says a lot about how disorganized things are behind the scenes. My opinion? Son had wisdom teeth extraction. They did not supply a quote until 2 days prior to procedure, even…read morethough I requested one twice, several weeks in advance. Any time I needed to call them, had to call multiple times due to no one answering phone. On day of procedure before starting, discussed an impacted tooth and that they could expose and move said tooth since they were already in his mouth. They never said it would have an additional charge until after the procedure was done then said they would advise of amount after sending to insurance. 1.5 weeks later I get a bill for nearly $1,300.00 which was more than I paid for the 4 wisdom teeth to be removed. They refused to discount the additional charges, which were not covered by insurance. They only supplied a little gauze for after care. Other surgeon offices provide enough gauze for full aftercare as well as ice packs. I was treated as if this place only wants your money, they do not care about the patient or treating people like human beings. They also switched the location from where I made the appointment, but no one told me this until the day before when they called to go over what to do before coming in.
