General dentistry seems fine and the staff is kind at the front desk. However, they call when you say you're not available. Then proceed to never answer when you call back, no matter how many times. If you need a oral surgeon, they will schedule you. But be prepared to wait the whole day. They tell you a couple hours, so you take a half day from work. People from 8 am are waiting when you walk in at your 10 am appointment and they don't get called back until 10:45. They do not respect your time. Get a referral for a different surgeon. read more

Finally able to get to see the dentist. Been waiting for a long time to be able to get some work done since my crown was broken last year. I was sent to Macon by the Dublin VAMC Community Care department. Exterior appearance of the facility was good. Parking decent. Interior was welcoming ...if a little too busy for my taste, but welcoming nevertheless. Receptionist Erica (sp?), who was sitting on the right as you come into the office, gets 5 five stars. Minimal paperwork, brilliant smile (even from under the mask:-), temperature taken, concise instructions brilliant multi-tasker, and great listening skills. Wait time was about 15 minutes from the time I sat down, completed paperwork and was called by the dental assistant/ technician, Emily. She took me back to x-ray and once that was completed back to start the cleaning. Emily was Awesome and gets 5 stars. But 3.5 stars due to the fact that she used foam as opposed to the varnish for the fluoride treatment. Here's why: On average, studies have found that foam only reduces caries by about 25% in adults and adolescents and around 40% for children. In comparison, varnishes reduce dental caries by anywhere from 50% to 70% across the board. For individuals who are moderate to high-risk for dental caries, this additional 45% can make a massive difference in long-term dental care. Beyond the benefit of enhanced remineralization with varnish, it is also ten times as effective at lessening the amount of cariogenic bacteria, S. mutans. Fluoride foam, on the other hand, is less effective at fighting S. mutans than a simple chlorhexidine mouthwash. My dentist, Dr. M, was...let's just say wasn't prepared for a pedantic individual such as myself. The exam/assessment itself lasted about 5 maybe 10 minutes. I strive daily with PTSD and anxiety, y'know, due to previous military experiences/bad hair day/life and the millions of other issues that we all keep bottled up. However...I don't expect to have to ASK my health care provider to provide the details of my treatment plan after discussing with my hygienist/tech behind my head or have them not offer me a written plan either within a reasonable amount of time after the appointment or upon request. When I commit to medical treatment I assume, since I'm the subject to be willingly consulted/included throughout. I expect to NOT be told "you're not paying for it anyway" as the punctuation to said treatment plan either. Ummmm, what does that have to do with the price of tea in China? Excuse me? I paid over 30 years ago. Y'know, when I signed on the dotted line. This is not welfare or charity. This is owed. Hence the two stars. To sum up. When you get a crown, you expect it to stay in. However, this is not always the case. Crowns are not cheap, with or without insurance. One would expect it to stay in place. Problem is after you have a crown fall out and need it put back in. I'm not a dentist or in the dental field; therefore, I exp to go back and have the dental office re glue the falling out crown. The problem comes in when you have to start PAYING CASH just to have a crown re glued. Insurance does not cover this fee which is high. Make sure you thoroughly check your dental benefits and do not believe what the office staff tell you in reference to payment. I received a $380.00 bill after they told me I would only pay $79. They will give you an up front price and you will pay them and then will receive a bill from them for much more on top of what you already paid. They bill with high-end/pricey procedure codes to make it look like they did some fancy work on you and then will send you a bill for the difference the insurance company did not pay. I went in for a cleaning yesterday and had a great experience. My temperature was checked before going into the waiting area and I was asked a series of questions, which was expected(due to COVID). I went in and was checked in, filled out the remaining paperwork(majority was online). I waited for about 15 mins before I was called back. Robin called me to the back and did x-rays and she did my cleaning. She did an excellent job. And Dr. Williams came in and checked my teeth and the X-rays and everything was good. I went here quite a bit one year. Regardless of the fact that these were the most uncomfortable dental chairs I'd ever been in. To his credit Dr M worked hard and managed to fill some teeth that were obviously difficult to fill. However, He has been known to not get the tooth numbed up enough. Thus causing unbearable pain. He also messed up and fused 2 of my teeth together and was unable to get them separated enough that I could get floss in there. Though I've seen another dentist and can now floss there is excruciating pain every time, where previously there was no pain. Alot of times I'd go in there and get stuck with a tech instead of the dentist. Lori, the tech decided I needed a crown on a tooth simply because it wasn't thick enough for her liking. She said it needs a build up but should be fine without one. I was unable to talk with all the equipment in my mouth to question what she meant. She ground the tooth down at an irregular angle so that when the crown was applied it did not fit my bite correctly. While trying the new crown on me and repeatedly removing it she was prying so hard she slipped and accidentally stabbed and deeply gouged my gum as well as breaking the old crown beside the one she was working on. She started to panic because it wouldn't stop bleeding. And I could see all that blood being sucked up in the hose. She and I were both shaking at this point! Therefore I had to come in several times and she had to grind down the new crown (top tooth) and the bottom matching tooth that was perfectly fine beforehand. She never managed to get it right. So now I am stuck with a crown that is down in my gum and is flush with my gumline in places!! This crown is still on with temporary glue. Then I went in again and saw Dr M. He had trouble getting me numb and from repeatedly trying to work and discovering I wasn't numb, he and I were both a bit shaken up. I admit he hurt me so bad at one point that I almost jumped out of the chair. Once he'd finally gotten me numb enough and all had calmed down, things seemed to be going smoothly when he slipped and cut my lip with one of his tools. When I emerged from the back after a grueling 3 hours with blood pouring from my lip, my husband said "Never again!!"I certainly do not recommend this establishment! read more

My daughter also had her wisdom teeth pulled here. The office staff is wonderful at helping you figure out your insurance benefits. I made an appointment and was given the price for a cleaning and X-rays. They ended up charging me more and not cleaning my teeth. They told me I would have to pay more for cleaning even though I was there for cleaning and had previously confirmed it would be done in one appointment. It seemed unethical and shady. Place is very clean, young ladies at the front desk were extremely nice even though they were really busy. Their website is nice and they have a feature where u can fill out all the "new patient" paperwork and submit securely online. This made it easy as pie. The dentist assistant was a beautiful young lady with the touch of an angel. She took her time explained everything and was so gentle but firm when she needed to be. Her name was Sherrie I think ... she was so Awesome!!!! Definitely the star of the show! The dentist was a female and she was good. Very courteous and pleasant and had a very nice personality made me feel right at home. I had two molars (actually just fragments of each) extracted and it hurt like hell but that was mainly my fault for waiting till last minute to get that done. They explained that It's hard to get anesthesia to penetrate an infected area. The place is awesome and very comfortable they even have televisions in the ceiling so u can watch tv while on the chair and they even give u headphones so you can listen to it! This place took me on a Friday with very very little notice when nobody else would. My regular dentist turned me away even though he saw how swollen my face was... These folks are my heroes! Ok... I had it with rude people. Why is it so bloody hard to be courteous and nice to patients. The dentist is not a dream destination for anyone. I knocked down another star ,because of two separate incidents in addition to previous ones I wrote reviews on. The first one was when I went in for a follow up extraction to get rid of some leftover tooth fragments left in my mouth. They did applied the numbing stuff before hand, but it wasn't enough when the doc hit a nerve while doing the procedure. It was a pain like none that I felt before, i screamed out of straight pain and agony, my eyes teared up out of control and my heart jump to a very high raising speed. I could not control none of this, mind you. When a nerve is struck hell breaks loose in your pain receptors. But the lady assisting the dentist still had the nerve to tell me to be quite, because of the other patients. "Excuse me??? Is not like screaming out of pain and agony when a nerve is struck is something I plan or can control".I thought I couldn't really talk with all the stuff in my mouth . That request of her when my heart is racing and tears of pain are flowing uncontrollably was kind of uncalled for. Also the receptionist over the phone wasn't very pleasant when I was trying to reschedule a cleaning, because of a work schedule conflict. I will be looking for a new dentist now. read more

I was with Dr. Katz (Jr) for many years. Don't ask me to review him, please. In 2009, I went to Dental Care Center and was surrounded by a clean, modern experience. The TV in the ceiling was nice (you can't hear, but it has closed captioning), and they let you choose any channel. The everyone working there is A++. I specifically asked to verify how much I would pay out of pocket with insurance. Verified my insurance would be accepted and how much I would pay on the day of the procedure (around $300). We did wait longer than I thought we would considering we had an appointment but the procedure was quick. I was concerned because we had not laid eyes on the doc so we asked to meet him before my son's procedure. The doc was not friendly but not unfriendly, all the techs were pleasant. I was taken aback that no one called to check on him the next day which has always been been the case with our pediatric dentists or doctors. Procedure was Oct 23, I received a bill around Thanksgiving to pay another $188. When I called to speak to billing, the person I spoke with had zero customer service and was rude!!! She proceeded to tell me my issue was with my insurance company and not them. Apparently a predetermination had not been sent to my insurance company; according to the billing department I had to request a predetermination it was not automatically sent to the insurance company. If the news had been delivered with a better attitude this review wouldn't be so bad, but the lady was simply nasty. Employees are a reflection of the company which makes the Dental Care Center look horrible!! I had to hang up on her before I really told her how I felt.
