We called to ask for a refund for the crown and office visit and they told us to pound sand. Dr. Hayslip botched a root canal and it had to be corrected at another practice. The faulty equipment the Dr. was using had the battery die while the probe was inside the tooth and he yanked it out with force causing trauma to the tooth. After the root canal, crown and months of pain the tooth now has to be extracted. Dr. hayslips practice has cost us A LOT of money, missed time at work and lots of stress with nothing to show for it. I had a sudden onset of severe jaw pain that lasted a week with no improvement. Two oral surgeons were recommended by a local dentist. The first one did not have an opening for about 10 weeks. The second surgeon was Dr. Carey who was able to see me within one day of contacting him. He, his staff, and the entire office experience inspired confidence. After his very thorough exam he showed me the x-ray, explained what the problem was, and the treatment he could provide. He did not press like a salesman, just waited for me to process the information and tell him how I would like him to proceed. The next day he performed the surgery which had some above average challenges. Every aspect of my encounter with Dr. Carey and his staff was first class. When I called Dr. Halls office, the receptionist, April was really pleasant and informative. She called me back soon as she had some information for me to make decision on whether or not I wanted to come in on the same day. I took the earliest available appointment. Soon as I got there, they had me in right away. The new patient paper work was simple. The doctor saw me right away and listened to my problem and asked questions after I was done. He then presented me with a solution to my problem, gave me different options and explained all the advantages and disadvantages. He also had them configure cost for each one and gave me time to think about my options. They also offered finical assistance, like care credit. Fortunately I didn't need and was able to pay up front because the prices were reasonable. The doctor started right away and offered numbing if I requested. I don't like how the numbing last for a long time, so I opted out. He was really gentle and took the appropriate time to finish the job. Afterwards he asked me if I liked it. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place.

just now New Long…read moreread- I'm an adult woman who is absolutely terrified of the dentist yet it became necessary to have a tooth extracted and I reached out to Oglethorpe Dental and made an appointment because my husband had used them in the past and they were the only dentist office that I was aware of other than an oral surgeon that would do an extraction. When making my appointment because of my anxiety I was offered to be medicated and advised I would arrive- be provided a medication for anxiety and then have to wait one hour - fine. My appointment was at 9 so I arrived a few minutes early-c-rays were done and I paid for the medication which was a separate cost and then waited. About an hour later I was taken to a room and a numbing agent was placed on my gums and I waited for some time before the dr came in and he did several injections which I did not feel and he left me for the numbing to take affect. 40 plus minutes later he was back, all minutes where I laid there thinking about was about to happen and scared beyond measure. The dentist then puts the metal instrument in my mouth and I can still feel it. Be mindful that I am aware of pain Va pressure, I could feel it! The dentist then shoots additional numbing agent into my mouth without speaking t me- he gets my lip and the palate of my mouth and this time I can very much feel the needle "and" much of the medicine in the syringe shoots directly in my mouth and I have to spit it out. I'm again left to wait and in a few moments a nurse walks in ask me if I'm numb and then ask if I need to be referred to an oral surgeon and my response because I'm shocked is absolutley if that is what the dentist thinks- then another nurse comes in and tells me that she is not trying to change my mind but if I'd just stay very still he would get it and I would feel so much better - so I agree and then I again wait , and wait all while I hear friendly conversations going on down the hall- then finally he comes back and says ok I'm going to test it - again I can still feel the metal on what seems like a nerve. Dentist puts tools on counter, never speaks to me and walks out at which point I was referred to an oral surgeon. I was there from 9a til almost 1. I was treated in my opinion horribly and left in additional pain not knowing what I was going to do because they made it a point to let me know the oral surgeon was likely booked 3 months out. This morning I sit here in much better spirits because I was fortunate to get an appointment with Dr. Wright for whom I saw yesterday - I was able to be fit in within a week and survived on my antibiotic and some pain medication which luckily I had available because nothing was prescribed to me. I arrived at Dr Wrights office a few minutes before my 9a appt. I was immediately taken to a room where a nurse stayed with me 100% of the time . I was administered gas for my anxiety , Dr Wright came in and we talked, he numbed me up, we waited a few minutes and we numbed me up some more and before 10a I was out and headed to pick up a prescription for the discomfort I was going to feel these next few days and my tooth was extracted. If you have made it this far I would never recommend Oglethorpe Dental it wasn't even about affordability for me but you def get what you pay - walking away from a patient and no compassion not to mention he liked the use of the word retard for people who couldn't sit still and show fear

Fortunately, I was able to get in to see Dr. Scott for a second opinion. He quickly identified that my x-ray showed some infection and explained that an infected tooth should never be crowned. He explained my treatment options (root canal vs extraction), answered my questions, and saved me from making a dangerous mistake! I highly recommend Dr. Scott, he is honest and knowledgable.
