When I first bought my house, I had Erik install safety outlets in the kitchen and new light switches in the laundry room and hallway. He also looked at the wire gauge for the outlet where I was plugging in my washer and dryer and suggested updating it as modern appliances need to pull much more power. All of his work was done quickly and everything works great. Today, I called him again because a different outlet in the laundry room had stopped working. He talked me through re-setting the breaker (I had done it, but not correctly) and the power to that outlet came back on. No charge for his time. I used Eric of Dent Electric on short notice. I was changing electric outlets from old to new. I accidently cut my hand and had to go to Emergency. My wife said we needed to get an electrician and found Eric of Dent Electric. He came of on short noticed and knew immediately why the kitchen electric sockets were not getting electricity. It was the Ground Fault Interceptor was wired wrong. The house is 24 years old and was over wired and wrongly wired. He knew immediately what was wrong and corrected it. Eric is friendly and polite and is an asset to his Trade. Intelligent and quick to know what the problem is and made the repair. He keeps a clean workspace and cleans up after the job. I recently purchased an electric car and needed to have a 240V outlet installed in my garage so I could charge the vehicle. I am relatively new to the area and live in a new house so I have not needed an electrician before now. I found Erik by searching on Yelp and he had a very high rating so I figured I would give him a shot. I called his number, which was promptly answered by his answering service who took down my information. I received a call back from Erik within 30 minutes. I explained exactly what I needed and he gave me an estimate over the phone and we set up an appointment for the following Friday. The morning of the appointment I received a text message from him confirming the appointment, which was very much appreciated since you hear stories of all types on contractors never showing up for scheduled appointments. We had scheduled our appointment for between 12-3. I received a text from Erik letting me know that the job he was working on was running a little long and wanted to know if it was okay that he would be late. No problem at all since it was appreciated that he let me know. When he arrived he got right to work installing the outlet. He was very careful as he worked to ensure that the end product looked good. He treated my project as if he was working on his own home even though it was late on Friday afternoon - I never sensed that he was trying to rush through the job. The final product was installed perfectly and I have been enjoying a nicely charged vehicle in my garage all weekend. I should also add that his final invoice was $25 less than his quote! Thank you, Erik! I am very picky when it comes to the quality of the workmanship I have done on my house. I highly recommend Erik to anybody that is seeking a quality and trustworthy electrician. Sad to see how many 5 stars they received. They were terrible! Blew me off 3 times. Never showed up when they were suppose to. I had to call and every time they said "oh we were just about to call you" ..... When I explained my situation they said they would have someone to help me in the next 2 hours, but 3 hours went by with a no call/no show. Out of good faith they should have recommended me to another company. The knew I was on a time crunch with work and other furniture being delivered. Then they said they would call me back.... no one did. When I called back the second time she basically told me he wasn't going to home to my house that night! But never called me to let me know, reschedule or call another company! So being that I had to work and had no light in my room I scheduled an appointment for the next day and my mother was kind enough and cancelled all her plans. She went and sat at my house and waited for them....Once again the hour window they gave us passed with another no call/no show. My mom called irate because now her day was wasted and it was another excuse. The two guys showed up and I was told one smelled like alcohol. They said my electric was not to code and that they didn't have the mounting brackets to place the fan. Then they both looked at the fan I purchased told my mom they would NOT put it together because it would take over 6 hours and that it would cost me way more then I was initially quoted to even install it! They told her to return it. I bought the fan bc it's unique and I don't want to return it! I was also told that they knew how to install it and it would be easy, as I explained it in detail to the receptionist/scheduler on the phone. My friend who is also an electrician told me we were lied to. Bummed about the whole experience and still no light in my house. read more

I contacted Eric Dent for an estimate for my workplace. He showed up and seemed legit. I also checked the reviews on yelp. He provided an estimate, we agreed on a date to do the work and he asked for half down ($450) which we provided. The day he was to do the work - came and went and now we are out over 3 weeks. I called, emailed, and another co-worker called and he hung up on him, all with no response. NO SHOW and HE SCAMMED US OUT OF OUR DEPOSIT. read more

We ordered a new range hood and needed it installed for us. Erik Dent installed it for us. We told him when it would arrive and he was here the same day to install it. He was very easy to work with regarding scheduling. He came on time and worked fast and efficiently. He quoted a reasonable price on the phone and stuck to it, even though he did a few extra things because the wiring was old and needed updating. Couldn't be more please. I was to have 2-4' fluorescent lights removed and replaced with a 12" x 12" LED fixture, install a dimmer switch for it and replace a ceiling single bulb fixture with a duplex plug. I supplied the dimmer switch and light. Erik and Tim arrived not aware of the scope because they fired the estimator for embezzlement and did not ask him or call me to clarify. They tried to directly attach the 20 lb light directly into the drywall ceiling. No outlet box or support. Of course it ripped out of the ceiling. Their estimator, another company estimator and they themselves said they would use a light/fan bracket with an attached outlet box. They ended up not installing it and said they would get back to me that night to reschedule. No call back ever, although I called 3 times. Erik told me it was the wrong switch as it did not work on his own test light. I verified with Lutron that it was the correct switch. I installed the light myself. I found the switch did not work because 1 of the 3 wires was not attached to anything. I fixed it. Erik also used a wood screw to attach the switch to the outlet box stripping the threads in the process. The duplex plug in the ceiling is not attached and is held in place by the face plate. They have charged my credit card for the light installation (which they did not do), attaching the dimmer switch, that was installed incorrectly and did not work, and the plug that was not installed correctly, safely or to code. I have spoken to them 3 times and sent a letter to them, the BBB, the ROC and the credit card co. No word or any contact from them, over 2 weeks ago. Unacceptable and poor workmanship, problem solving, and customer relations. Stay away!!! read more

Eric came to my house when half of our power went out. He tightened up a few wires, walked around the house and said he didn't know what caused it but he didn't make any attempt to check any outlets or troubleshoot anything. Later that day the power went off again. Called him back and once again he said he didn't know what the problem was so he replaced the breaker. Later that day power went out again! Called him again and left him a message. He then sent me a text saying he would call and make arrangements to get it fixed and never heard from him again! What terrible service! Called a different electrician and they found the problem in 10 minutes! Don't call these guys if you want work done! read more
