My HOA had Tap out to replace several light fixtures and change the manual timers to automatic. The light fixtures were 2x4" white fixtures (warm light) that were replaced by 6x8" black fixtures (cool light). Tap did replace the fixtures with the proper ones 3-4 later. We had 2 interior wall outlets that worked independently from the exterior light until Tap changed the timers. After 5 weeks they still have not corrected the issue. read more

Had a positive experience with them several years ago (we needed some outlets to be changed out due to old age). Remembered them when we needed the same type of work done for a few outlets. Chris (the tech) came on time and was quick, professional, and polite. One outlet broke soon after he replaced it (not his fault; the underlying structure was a bit weak to begin with), and he fixed it right away after (at no extra charge, which I appreciated). We had a pedestrian light out and were told that we had to trench and replace the existing light all for $2,500. We called a second contractor who spent 10 minutes to replace a component for $100.00. Trey came to my house on time, I walked him through the scope of the work. He explained the process in great detail, respected my home with boot covers and placed plastic down to protect may belongings and carpet! I've used TAP on many of my past home electrical needs, most recently on my Rivian charger. They always give great insight into my projects, provide honest feedback and at reasonable prices. It's not often you find a company willing to admit to a customer, "you don't need that right now", that's integrity and a company I'd use every day. I've read some of the negative reviews on this company and feel many people get duped from unlicensed handyman and put themselves at risk to save a few bucks, and likely from company's not truly qualified to do the work in the first place. If you're looking for something cheap, hell message me, I'll come do it, even though I have no business touching electrical stuff. Do yourself a favor, if you're looking for a great family-owned business that provides excellent service at reasonable prices, my advice is stop looking and use these guys. I have used Tap and Sons Electric a few times over the years for my rental property. Recently, my tenant called because the outlets in two bathrooms weren't working. I wasn't able to get them working myself, and I crossed my fingers that we weren't looking at a costly repair. Tom, the owner, answered my call and assured me they would get to the property quickly (even if he had to visit himself). You immediately get the sense that excellent service is a part of their culture. In the end, they were able to reset the GFI's and there we no additional repair fees. I was glad to pay the service fee and they had everything up and running. I will not hesitate to call these guys the next time we have an electrical issue (and with two 1956 homes, it will happen). Called Tap and Sons late last night when 1/2 the power went out in my house. They were about 45 minutes from our home and said they would be here as soon as possible. Before the got here APS showed up to our house and said there was a bad transformer which would cause 1/2 the power to go out in my house. Called Tap and Sons back even though they had already drove 1/2 way to our house they did not charge us a service call. Cyrus came out to our home for an estimate on putting in a dedicated line for a fridge. He opened our panel box, pointed to some breakers and stated we had aluminum wiring. When questioned about what problem it posed he went on to describe fire risk and recommended it be replaced before summer. When asked to give an estimate of what cost we might be looking at he stated $30,000 to $40,000. Since it was a newly purchased house we went back to the home inspector who immediately came back out to the house and showed us the copper wiring and NO ALUMINUM wiring at all. He was outraged that we were told such a lie. Confirmed it further with 2 additional electricians. I made an effort to notify the owner who chose to act aggressively from the start. He talked over me, told me I was confused, threatened me that he would find out where I worked and also threatened he would try to get my warranty policy canceled and called me a racist. I am not confused as I reported this to my home warranty company right after it happened. Far to often females get bullied into silence by threats and rage. I'm choosing to not be intimidated by his threats. I did not nor would I ever use this company. read more

I called TAP for an estimate on hanging 3 pendant lights over a kitchen island, a chandelier, and install 2 timer switches. The price I was quoted for the pendants was $650 which at that point I told them I had another bid for the entire job at $200. I obviously didn't use them so while they might do great work I suggest you shop around first. I wouldn't have bothered reviewing if it was even close, but given how high they were I wanted to give new customers a heads up. Good luck. read more

We had an issue with a dining room light fixture. We had scheduled an appointment, but due to conflicts had to reschedule. They were very flexible and considerate. They called us about 15 minutes ahead of our rescheduled appointment time to let us know they were on the way. They were on time. They took care of it very quickly and was priced very very reasonably. They did recognize a couple of other things that could lead to bigger issues and made some recommendations to fix them. What a great company! The office staff was friendly and helpful. I believe the girls name was Nicole that I spoke to. She was polite and got me on the schedule right away. Even when I had to reschedule at the last minute, Thom (the owner) was accomodating to my needs. I was also pleased with the pricing...they didn't have a trip charge like the other electricians I checked out. Worst customer service. They were given the work order on Tuesday and never called to get an appointment arranged. I called to follow up saying it's now been two days and we still have not heard from them to set the appointment. They didn't seem too concerned. They read the phone number off to me, they had it correct. I let them know the urgency that the circuit breaker shorted causing there to not be hot water (it's winter and a tenant is in the home). Kelly said they maybe can look for appointments today, I said- since we've been waiting, now it's the third day it's more urgent, can it be this morning? Her reply was I'm going to cancel the work order. What?? So because of the mistake of not following through this company chooses to altogether back out and not make things right. Zero help, at all, so little that they made us start all over again now three days later. No offer to see what they could do to remedy the situation. Would suggest to never use this company. Also, calls are directed through a third party call center if you call after 3pm so they can't answer any questions nor do they have any information. Suggestion alternative: Phoenix Heating & Cooling. Within the hour of the work order this morning we had a technician scheduling an appointment for TODAY with the tenant. I signed up for yelp just to post this review. I would give 0 stars if I could. RUDE-IGNORANT-DID NOT SHOW UP: I met the owner Thom at a vendor expo at my condo and he seemed like a nice guy. I set up an appointment to have some work done. The appointment was set more than 2 weeks later. On the day of the appointment, the electrician never showed up. I called and was told that they had to reschedule for the next day between 7 and 10. The receptionist was ignorant and rude. I then spoke to a supervisor who said, "what do you want us to do?". The next day, the electrician calls and tells me he has a doctors appointment and can't make it until noon. By 2:00pm, he didn't show up so I called and Thom answered the phone. He offered to give me a $20 credit for wasting 8 hours of my life over 2 days. He could not have been any more rude. Turns out the electrician was electrocuted which is why he didn't show up. Thom accused me of not being understanding when I had no idea what happened to the guy. The larger point is that no one ever called me to let me know that no one was showing up. When I told him that I was going to post my experience online he threatened to slander me by posting negative remarks about me in business. I told him that I would promptly sue him if he did that. Unbelievable. Based on another review here, I called Top Choice Electric. The guy was professional and booked the appointment the next day. read more

They said they came by and left a card, but I never got a phone call, no knock on the door or doorbell ring! A quick update: business contacted me through BBB to say basically we should have charged you $530 so basically you saved $150... So Let's recap: We called for a free estimate and did not receive it. We ask the to fix the outdoor low voltage and they changed light bulbs only to come back and say "yep you have an electrical issue with some of your lights". We asked to rewire the electrical blinds to hide the wire inside the wall and he just drilled a whole next to the original one (just a bit more in the back) which did not solve the problem and drilled a nice big hole in our wall. To add salt to the wound when we explained the issue the CS rep started being insulting to my wife and her knowledge of the english language and threaten to put lien on our house. Some companies are just not able to deliver some time and that is OK but this is just a bad company period and they know what they are doing. read more

Their staff is rude and unproffessional and does not take your information to schedule appointments. They may do good work, but I wouldn't know. No one showed up. I was quoted a price and was told that Cyrus would be coming out and would call prior to his arrival. I was also told that I would receive $20 since I found TAP & Sons Electric via a referral. Yesterday evening I did not receive a call, so I called their office at 530pm. I spoke to someone who took my information and John called me back. He was very apologetic at the fact that NONE of my information was taken down and my appointment never made it on the books. He said that either Breanna or Jasmine would call back the following day. I received a call this morning from Breanna the following morning to reschedule my appointment. Breanna was nothing but rude and unprofessional when I stated that I was unable to have a tech come out today, the day after my original appointment was schedule due to my schedule being unable to accommodate their tech. She stated that she was only trying to assist me and barely got out an apology when I asked if they had any of my information in their system. She only said that she was trying to assist me and that they write everything down. I had more written down about the conversation that took place than Breanna did. I did not want to risk that again and choose a different company (Top Choice Electric) who was very professional and willing to work with my schedule and honor any discounts that TAP & Sons had. Found this business on Yelp, and gave them a call. I decided not to have them come out on an emergency basis, so I called the next morning and was given an afternoon appointment, with Nick.
