service and ambiance WAS TOP NOTCH TRASH completely garbage. i don't expect too much and does not complain too much. but this place is completely horrible from the beginning. we asked for a favor to cut the steak a little smaller cause of my braces. I understand when they said it came that way, that's cool, less work for them. We asked specifically for hard fried hash browns joking about it to the waitress how no one likes it soggy, of course it came just how we didn't want it to be. picture how much time they cut for not cooking it to our preference and yet we waited for an hour for our food that was served with no utensils or napkins. And when we needed help, the waitress act like she doesn't hear us. My boyfriend said, it's 4am, what do you expect? ahh SERVICE . If time was the case, don't open 24 hrs. COMPLETELY DISAPPOINTING, next time I go to a denny's i'll have to re evaluate bec the emotions i felt jumping off of my bed to know im going to denny's was not the same as it was when I was eating the food. My husnand and I came in around 2:30 in the afternoon to get something to eat. The place was almost empty except 2 tables that were occupied. I'm standing there waiting for someone to say "we'll be right with you" but no, instead they're all standing there chatting to each other. And then they glanced at me, but still didn't say anything. So, I picked up the menu and started going through it, then the cashier came up and said Hi, my response to her was, I have been standing here for a while now, but nobody acknowledged me that I'm here. She said, oh we thougt your ordering for take out because your looking at the menu. Then i said, you mean to tell me, that if the customer looks at the menu you asume it's a take out order? If the customer looks at the menu before they are seated, they should at least acknowledged. Now for the specifics: Service was bad. Food was okay. Ketchup bottle was almost empty, salt shaker not working, coffee barely warm. We have been loyal Denny's customers for years ... we are now reevaluating our casual dining options. read more

It was really busy when we went, so it did take a little while to get our food. And it was loud inside. I ordered the nachos appetizer which was really good and way bigger than expected. The pot roast was good, as was the cold-brew coffee. read more

Once again this place disappoints. The wait staff took too long to come back to our table to check on us. The cook at the time (3/25 @5:45pm) got a few of our orders wrong as fire as how we wanted it... Or maybe the waitress relayed our order to them wrong. Fun to have a local Dennys. Sometime I just feel like I want to have Denny's. So we got here, ordered our regular, and enjoyed a good brunch as I did so many times in the past. Service was good (Most Dennys staff are professionals), and food was good. Wish they could make the eggs with some more care, and chop the tomato and onion in a better way. Absolutely ridiculous. We had a large party and had already ordered drinks and received appetizers. The server dropped them off but no plates or utensils, and disappeared without a word. 5 minutes later, we asked for them so we could eat... and the server disappeared again. ANOTHER 5 minutes passed, appetizers getting cold, and the server dropped off some new drinks... but no plates or utensils. Then they disappeared again, nowhere to be seen. This was ridiculous as the place was half empty and there were plenty of staff. When we got up to leave, never touching a piece of food, the server suddenly showed up and had the nerve to act surprised we were leaving. Worse, she had the nerve to ask if she should bring the check for the uneaten appetizers! We said, "for what?!" and walked out on them. Sunday morning (10/13/2019) I was traveling with my church and we made a stop to eat at Denny's located in Stony Creek VA off of I-95 Exit 33. I wasn't that hungry so I ordered a Tropical Green smoothie. It was the BEST smoothie I ever tasted in my life! REALLY good! I decided once I got back home to Waldorf MD, I would go to the local Denny's and get that same smoothie because it was just that good! I went into this Denny's and ordered the smoothie. The gentleman that took my order also made the smoothie for me and he was very nice. The smoothie on the other hand was absolutely disgusting! I probably should have tasted it before I left but I didn't because I had one earlier at another location so I figured it would be the same thing right? WRONG! I don't think he followed the recipe correctly because all I could taste was spinach, chunks of apple and ice. It was just all bad. I don't seem to have any good luck with food places in Waldorf MD and although I didn't have any of their food items, I would NOT recommend the Tropical Green smoothie from this location. ** I actually do plan to visit that other location in the near future just so I can order a smoothie from them. Have Never Been To Dennys Before. Was Hoping To Experience It On A Beautiful Saturday. Pulled Up Around 12 And It Was Busy As Expected. Put My Name On The List With Number Included Because It Was Packed Inside With Nowhere To Sit And Was Told It Would Be A 30 Min Wait But Probably Sooner Because Most People Were Already Done Eating. When I First Pulled In I Watched 4 Guys Head In And Put Their Names On The Waiting List And Come Back Out To Their Car. So As Im Waiting In My Car I See Those Same 4 Guys Get Out To Head Inside To Eat. Fast Forward 45 Minutes And I Watch The Same 4 Guys Come Out. I Ask Them If They Already Ate And They Say Yes. Denny's has improved a lot over the years since their renovation. The food is always good and hot. The trouble ends up trying to go when they aren't crazy busy which doesn't seem that often. We recently took a friend there to celebrate his birthday. It was around 3:30 on a Thursday. The restaurant was clean and not too busy. We were seated promptly. Our waitress, Lia, was the best part. She was so kind, prompt, and accommodating to small changes or additions we asked for our dishes. We didn't have to wait too long to be served our food. It was hot and delicious. Before we left, Lia offered us drinks to take with us which was very thoughtful. We asked what days she works so we can have her as our server next time. This is the worst service I have ever endured at an Denny's restaurant franchise. I had to have the manager track down my waitress just so I could put my order in, he took my order and she brought it out. My waitress acted as she had attitude when I asked for a refill on my coffee and a glass of water. She also disappeared a few times - and it was not busy in there, so I have no idea what she was doing. The food was at the Denny's expectation. The worst experience at a Denny's ever! IHOP down the road had a ridiculous wait and was looking for another breakfast place, hence Denny's. Like Mike D., the worst possible service. There was one other family in there, that should've been a tip-off, and two waitresses and what looked to be the manager. It should've been a formula for quick service. Not the case. Our waitress was a space cadet to say the least. She took our drink orders and brought them out two at a time (part of 5). Instead of taking our meal orders, she disappeared again. Showed up 10 minutes later. Took a while for her to take the order because it was apparently too complicated. Food came another 15 minutes later and again one to two orders at a time. And then the order was not complete. Did I mention the food was not worth the wait? Oh and the whole atmosphere of the place. It felt completely run down and neglected. The star rating is only because we got some kind of compensation for the lousy service and the lousy food. Horrible! Go wait the 20 minutes at IHOP down the road or find another breakfast place. read more

Went here this morning around 5:00am after work.Custom service was good. Food , negative. When i order and pay the cost I expect to get a plate that the C.E.O. of the establishment would get. The food should look attractive an inviting. My grilled BBQ chicken sandwich was tossed together with no effort. Asked for a side of bbq sauce, came out cold. Worst Place Ever!! Went in there once for breakfast, on a Wed. Not very busy, took 15 mins just to get coffee, and I had to get up and go to the counter for it!! 10 Mins later the waiter asks me what I would like, I said the check. He says "there is no check, you didn't order anything" and I'm sitting there with a cup of coffee...I said fine and left. Ok, it could have been a bad day or something. Tried one more time. Got seated rather quickly, even had my soda within a few minutes, and that was it. Never saw the waitress again. I left $1. on the table for my drink and left. Truly a horrible place, avoid it. My server was awful. I asked for crayons multiple times and no this is not a joke. She hasn't done anything we've asked, hasn't checked in on us and everything takes her entirely too long. We asked multiple times for refills and she still didn't listen. Worst experience I've ever had. The server is Sherri from New York. She was the worst server. We were seated and waited 25 minutes before a server came up to ask what we wanted to drink, after watching two other customers get seated and handed drinks before us. Not only did we watch them get served, she was cheerful, had a friendly conversation with them too. So we decided to leave. Denny's. What can one say about this place that hasn't already been said? The Waldorf location stays pretty busy considering the service usually sucks and after 5pm, the place generally is filthy. (tables full of dirty dishes, crumbs and such on the floor) We generally avoid this place in the evening. (but sometimes you're hungry and McDonald's and Wendys have long lines) Employees are either in short supply or they hate their job so much they don't want to be bothered waiting on customers. (Although we did have Ursula as our waitress the other evening and she was friendly and quick - we ordered dessert only) Early mornings are the best times to come in. Ashley, Rhonda and Diane do a good job and are friendly. You can't beat the prices or the amount of food you get per meal. Location is just off Rt 301, the main road through Waldorf. read more

Horrible! My food was over cooked and the service was terribly slow. We got there at 6am on a Sunday Morning, literally there was 2 other tables with customers in the restaurant, and 1 was not being served by our waiter. We had to ask for coffee multiple times. There was ONE person cooking so there for we didn't get our food until 6:45am. We asked for more coffee because ours was cold after WAITING for the food, and we never received it. Once we finally got our food it was burnt and overcooked (shrimp, chicken fingers and mozzarella sticks). I never received a refill on my WATER after asking! There wasn't enough customers in the freaking restaurant for such poor service. It wasn't like our waiter was soooooo busy with a bunch of customers. I went here one Sunday afternoon with my kids. My daughter had a spider on her strawberry. I notified the server and she simply says "oh they probably didn't notice it when they put them in the cup". No apology, just an excuse. A disgusting excuse. And it was a LIVE, MOVING SPIDER. Manager gave us a discount, but that's it. This is the only Denny's in the area and i have to say I prefer it to the Waldorf IHOP. The have DirecTV and open at 5AM. I personally like coming to this location after I work nights because it's open and fresh. Can't really say I'll come here for lunch or dinner only because I prefer their breakfasts. read more

I came in last night to have dinner with my friends. It was very busy and the workers were great. We had Laurie as our server and she was beyond amazing she had about 6 tables 3 of the tables being parties and she still did great. With that being said she has a table with about 13/14 people it is not my place to say this but it needs to be brought to attention. There was an issue with one of the ladies meals the plate was sent back 5/6 times. After the last time of it being sent back the waitress (Laurie) told the lady I'm so very sorry for everything she then asked for the manager to come over to the table this is where things escalated. The lady explained to the manager (Brandi) that her food was messed up and it has been sent back 5/6 times now. Brandi proceeded to snatch the ladies plate off the table and walk towards the kitchen while Laurie stood there apologizing profusely for everything including the way the manager acted towards her. The lady told the waitress that she no longer wanted the meal and to have it removed from her check so the waitress said okay this is where things got beyond worse the manager stopped in her tracks and screamed at the waitress (Laurie) and said I am the god damn manager not you you can not tell her that a meal can be removed from her check out not that's not your job. The lady at the table told Brandi if she would have came over when I asked the first time it wouldn't be this bad. Brandi told her if she didn't like the way things were she could just leave. Also not to mention the manager was sick coughing runny nose everywhere all while serving plates. With the way the pandemic is now she should not have even been there. Like I said it's not my place to do this but it needs to be recognized this is not the way to handle things maybe a little more training on the managers part will do her some good. I love coming into Denny's but after this situation I think it will be awhile before I return. The waitress's did amazing last night including the new one who was shadowing my waitress (Laurie) who might I add did amazing at handling the situation. Please look into this and get back to me. We ate here on Saturday October 26, 2015. I think this was our last time at a Denny's. After sitting at a table in the middle in front of the area the servers walk thru in an empty restaurant, we waited for a server. And waited. And waited finally she took our drink order and walked away. When we ordered she kept talking over us and asked us to repeat what we told her. We asked for salads and they cane only a few minutes before the entree. So we had the table full of food that got cold. And missing some things we ordered. My steak was over cooked, mashed potatoes dry and cold, and french fries child and soggy. Our appetizers didn't come until long after we were done eating. Just really really bad. read more

I'm unsure why this place is still open.. they have the absolute worst service but delicious food.. I'm so torn by that! I went tonight to pickup a to go order. A grand value slam and an order of turkey bacon, hash browns and two of the $2 pancakes... I get home, both $2 pancakes aren't there.. have you ever tried to tell a child they're not getting pancakes AFTER telling them they were?! Do not eat at Denny's Waldorf! We were sitting there waiting for our food and a giant cockroach crawled across the table. The waitress came over and killed it. She said she would let the manager know. He never came over so I got his attention and asked him is this a problem here and is it in the kitchen too.
